This place made my heart so happy. The gentleman that served us was so friendly and welcoming. The environment felt like home. Best part was the menu was exactly what was served, my eggs bene came as the menu said and no surprise disappointing wilted spinach. And for once a decent serving of sauce! The food was delicious and all home made. And my hot chocolate was foamy as per my request!

Normally our usual stop when travelling from Auckland to Rotorua for a rest and ice cream scoops all around. But abit disappointed to know that they don’t do the ice cream scoops anymore. However they were very patient while we were looking for my fathers vaccine pass and were very friendly.

WOW what a difference new owners make, what a very pleasant Cafe to walk into, the boys were welcoming, friendly and the food was great, we had a ham and cheese toastie, it was full amd most enjoyable as was the.lolly cake that followed. I've travelled through Fitgerald Glade since the 1970's. The cafe has experienced a lot of ups and downs during it's existence. We make a point of of stopping here. The chicken and salad sandwich, blueberry muffin, savory and afghan biscuit were very good. Let's keep supporting these hardworking folks. They are worth it.

I will stop here everytime now. Best customer experience I've had in a long time. The lady behind the counter was amazingly friendly, they had sold out of sandwiches so she happily offered to make me a fresh one. They even have farm animals to pat. Can't rave about this place enough. November 2019

After reading the bad reviews - I was rather impressed with both the quality of the food and the price of everything. I almost gave it 4 stars because I hate when the make you ask for a code for the bathroom, but because 4 1/2 is not an option going with 5.

Stopped here on our way back from the Blue Spring to Rotorua for a spot of lunch. Ended up eating from their all day breakfast menu. THE MOST DELICIOUS brunch I've had in a long time. Staff are so friendly! Great customer service!

12 degrees outside. Cold. Staff wearing feather warm jackets. Fireplace with no fire. Gas heater turned on for table underneath. One small heater wont heat up this room. Surely this could be a warm cafe stop. My car was warmer. Don't think it's going to be my next trip stop over during winter Easy stop with boat. Good food. Very friendly.

Always a good stop, coffee is very good and so is the food. Busy road at 100k/h speed limit, take care crossing the road if heading to Rotorua. Toilets are only for customers, why would anyone expect anything different, they're not public toilets.

Really nice little place for a stop. Cafe sells great coffee and a good selection of food. We got cakes to go 😊 It also has a shop selling the essentials as well as a range of locally made craft items. My wife was very happy with her patchwork Teddy Bear 😊 Staff were very friendly and helpful - plus you can buy food to feed the chickens, goats and - of course - Barney the Donkey 😊👍❤

For many years I have wanted to stop at this place, more so growing up. As a young person whenever we drove past, I would always see the Road Service Buses parked outside; That was its heyday. Now, travelling down from Auckland, I missed a parking space at Tirau; continued on till the Glades knowing the Restaurant was still here. The decore leaves much to be desired; however the friendliness of the staff, and the spacious lounge with colourful chairs and a place for young children to play was kool. I ordered a Berry smoothie and was very pleasantly surprised; ordering another one to consume on the rest of the trip to Rotorua. On the way back, I stopped in to pick up another Berry smoothie while heading South. Main thing to bear in mind is their hours open and closed. Check this if planning to stop in

This quaint Cafe is a great pit stop to stretch your legs and have a bite of delicious food and coffee. You can also pat the friendly donkey any buy some feed for him as well. You can also feed chickens, goats and pigs. If you running low on supply's you can also stock.

The perfect road stop on our journey from Auckland to Rotorua. After the gorgeous piece of road thru the tree canopy of The Glade itself comes this homely cafe. Food and coffee is good but not flashy or overpriced. Top marks for the banana bread. Staff always friendly and efficient. The five star win comes though due to their wonderful animals - friendly goats and an awesome donkey and very sweet old pigs. You can buy appropriate food on the cafe for $1 bag to hand feed them all. A must for anyone travelling with kids - but we stop to enjoy the animals and we are just adults!
