Excellent food and service. You can clearly see the owener's efforts in customer satisfaction. The interior is very homely and clean, though it can be abit cramped. I love the art for sale on the walls, good quality and not expensive. The food, of course is great. All the usual brunch favorites, with some wonderful new ideas. Slices, cakes, pastries and savouries available if you want something smaller. Great coffee and hot chocolate, all sorts of drink options. Water was supplied to the table, smiles all round. You can book, but it looks like they do keep some tables spare for the walk in traffic like us. We'll be back.

Excellent. From the minute we walked in with our dog, tables were arranged on the lawn to accommodate us. Dog was provided with water. Food and service was excellent. We were asked for our vaccine passes and staff and customers were masked. Perfect experience. Amazing! :-)

I wanted to give my sister and her husband a gift voucher as a Christmas gift,as the Relish Cafe is their favourite cafe. I rang from Australia and spoke to the owner who was remarkable and just so helpful as he promised to get the voucher delivered by Christmas. My daughter had raved about this place before so we went this morning for her breakfast brunch. Clean tables, friendly efficient staff, delish food well worth the price. A little wait but they were busy. Made the birthday girls day by bringing out her waffles with a candle & singing happy birthday to her. Will definately be going back

Ordered two meals off the menu and two coffees. The coffee was good enough, but the food was too heavy, greasy and salty and wasn't presented well. I've given an extra star for excellent service from the friendly, professional staff.

Called in at Relish after visit to Nga Manu (also worthwhile). Light lunch and all 4 adults very happy with their food and coffee. Sat in the old fashioned garden on the verandah then over the road to a playground set in trees and gardens.

We found this to be a pretty little cafe. Comfortable seating with indoor or outdoor options. The service was friendly with a cheerful thank you from behind the counter as we left. The coffee was very nice and the food was tasty. I had the corn fritters which were very tasty but there wasnt enough sour cream and relish with them. My husband had the relish big breakfast which he said was just average..meaning it was acceptable but it didnt make him go "wow". Overall tho it was a nice place to have lunch:)

If you liked eating at cafes in the 90's you might like this cafe. Certainly seemed popular with the older generation. I had supermarket toast under my eggs bene. Someone with me had mock cream out of a can on their waffles. They even still serve bowl lattes! Our coffees were all extremely flat. One got spilt and no apology or replacement. The one redeeming factor was that the staff were very nice, other than the spilt coffee the service was great!!

Saturday lunch at Relish Cafe was excellent. Service was very good too, and we were made to feel welcome on arrival and through lunch. The black pudding was great, being sourced from the local Waikanae Butcher. The gluten-free options, salmon+asparagus quiche and warm bacon+avocado salad, were also delish. We would definitely come back again, and soon!

Lovely small cafe in an old cottage. We've been here twice and it was good both times. Very nice coffee and very handy to the Waikanae railway station. Nice selection of food and seems popular with the locals which is always a good sign.

Myself, my son and a friend of mine went here for brunch on a busy Sunday. We'd never been here before so we weren't sure if we needed to book ahead (we'll know for next time that we definitely should) however they managed to seat us. The staff here are so amazing, the atmosphere is great and the food was delicious 😋. I highly recommend Relish Cafe but I'd also recommend that you book a table first. Will definitely be returning 😁

We turned up and they were SUPER busy, we didn't have a reservation, but were kind enough to give us a table for an hour. The food was amazing and hot, and the customer service was ON POINT. We went to the park across the road as we had a bubba with us (which was SO well kept and picturesque) and would definitely recommend this to anyone.

The food was lovely, the ambience wonderful, but after ordering our meal had to well over 1/2 hr and a waitress came to us and asked if we had ordered any food. We told her we had and within 5 minutes we had our drinks and another 5 or so our meal with apologies. We knew the cafe was busy but we did see a couple of people who came in after us get there meal. We will go back.

Can't believe we didn't know about this little gem. We ordered eggs benny and hot chocolate. The food was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The hot chocolate was decadent and yummy. The service was beyond amazing and has probably ruined any other dining experience at other cafe's/restaurants for us(the bar has been set impossibly high now). We loved everything about Relish Café which is why it has now become our go to place for lunch and breakfast.

Not a great experience here today. There was some confusion with our order when we had our wine order come out incorrectly. The manager came out and explained the staff member who took the order was new - no worries! All sorted. Then when the food came out we got a prawn salad instead of the corn fritters we ordered. The staff member then said there were not enough corn fritters left to make one and asked if it was ok it we had the prawn salad... Um no?! He checked with the chef again and came back and said "they would make a new batch". They came out after everyone had finished.

Great wee cafe in Waikanae. Went here for brunch, great food, very warm and quite popular. Only critique would be the furniture and colour palette of the place. A lick of paint (maybe not maroon) and some nice chairs and tables would really lift the overall ambience of the cafe. The old fireplace is a beautiful centrepiece in the cafe.

The staff are friendly and inviting just as the cosy cottage this cafe is set in. There is seating outside in the well maintained cottage garden. Local artwork adorns the walls all for sale. All the baking and cabinet food is made on the premises with love. Their Eccles cake is very good , crispy on outside with sweet filling. I have been told their vanilla slice is best on Kapiti coast and very popular. The coffee was hot and so is the Barista 😜 I will be back for the vanilla slice next time.

A wonderful little "locals haunt" cafe just off the old SH1 across the railway line away from the Waikanae town centre. Frequented regularly in the past by my mother, and still by my sister.
