To be honest, I only went there as I liked the coffee shop style and didn’t expect to get a really fine coffee! A place like that in a small town and still serving an epic coffee that I will remember for long ! And sitting on the pavement is a joy it self. Thank you for providing such a quality coffee..
B.The Coffee Shack is part of an interesting little food truck scene on Brownston Street in the town centre of Wanaka. It is situated just next to the Charlie Brown Crepes at the Dungarvon Street intersection. Opening hours are 6.30am to 2pm on Monday to Friday (closed on weekends).
I stopped here early one morning recently and enjoyed a Long Black (NZ$3.5). The drink was well made and tasted fine - what I expected of a Long Black coffee.
I liked the shack arrangement and decor. It was a nice atmosphere to stop and enjoy a coffee. Otherwise, just take-away to have while browsing shops in the Town Centre or to perhaps enjoy by the lake.
In the end, this seemed like a good local business worth supporting during visits to Wanaka.
C.Fantastic. I am Barista, so finding a place where coffee is the priority is refreshing. A small place, the whole experience is very intimate! She stretched the milk properly and had decent extraction through the Lamarzocco. The cold brew was exceptionally delicious. I cannot wait to return!
H.Great Latte!! Such a nice and lovely small shop that has the best coffee in the town. Want to get a second cup in the afternoon but didn’t make it!!

A.Without a doubt the best coffee I've had EVER! This coming from a self proclaimed coffee snob. Such a rich, flavoursome taste it's beyond words. Have to experience it!

A.Unfortunately there is no six-star rating :) This beautiful little coffee shack serves delicious coffee for take away and to enjoy there. There are so many little details in the shack that just highlight the love they put into this place. They managed to put a smile on my face every single morning I went there. After just two days they remembered my name, which just shows how focused they are on their customers. I enjoyed the friendly conversations, and will certainly miss this place (similar to Wanaka overall :)).
M.Hands down the Best coffee in Wanaka. This place doesn’t look like much but the coffee is outstanding. Barista came 4th in the NZ barista competition this year. Added bonus is there are Polaroid photos of all the dog regulars to browse whilst you wait.
m.Wow ! The reviews were so right . Coffee was superb and the almond croissant was by far the best one I have had anywhere in the world ! Friendly staff , quirky venue , going back tomorrow !! A must visit in Wanaka !!

H.After reading the reviews we thought we have to taste it to believe it, and it was absolutely worth it! We not only had a delicious coffee, but also an amazing hot chocolate. Definitely try the ginger loaf as well. To top it all off; friendly staff too. You won't regret it :)

J.Excellent flat white. Well extracted with a good coffee flavour and the milk wasn't piping scalding hot as what I had tasted for the past 8 days in South Island. Easily the best I got in South Island.. Closes at 3pm though. Will be back!
update my review. i was there the next day and order another flat white but this time a large cup as i was pleased with the regular cup i ordered the previous day. This time round i am not sure is it because there were more milk added without compensating for more amount of espresso, the coffee feels weak and i could not really get the same flavours like the previous day. I was in a hurry and there was a crowd, hence i did not ask for my drink to be done again. not a biggie. i will be BACK!

P.The best coffee in town if you appreciate professionally made coffee. Their single origin is the best taste I had so far in the South Island. If you come early you can grab some delicious bakery items.

J.Nice little coffee place which serve nice coffee. I was a little surprised the filter coffee was prepared off hand but it still tasted fresh and hot. The servers at hand were very kind and gave us some advice on where to eat. There is only space for 2 people to sit so be prepared to have your coffee take away!
T.Lovely little hole-in-the-wall coffee joint that is well worth it! Easily the best coffee in Wanaka (and we tried a lot). However it is pretty much takeaway only, so bring your keep-cups! (they do have mugs, but only like 5 seats for people to sit and enjoy at)
The staff are super friendly and a laugh too!

D.I haven't found a coffee place in NZ with better variety or quality. The Latte w/ macadamia milk was good. The americano had good notes of the beans in it. They even have cold brew which is pretty hard to find here.
S.We traveled all over both islands over the course of a month, and we are convinced this is one of the best (if not THE best) cups of coffee we had. Can't recommend this place enough!

We used the Coffee Shack while on a recent holiday in Wanaka -its great for those early morning on the go caffeine fixes, and the staff are super friendly. Not to mention talented - check out the Indian skull painting behind the counter - its awesome! ( really would like this on my wall at home )
Look forward to revisiting the Shack in the future......

On a 2 night stay in Wanaka we stumbled upon the coffee shack after a long hard hike up Roys Peak.
The coffee was great & the staff were even nicer!

A.My father.. and his father before him, often voiced their concern that the perfect flat white didn't exist.. Well here it is. Just bloody perfect - from the service to the all important.. and sacred microfoam :)
E.Had my tie for best coffee in New Zealand here! Who would've thought? But the flat white was excellent. The only problem is I shouldve gotten more!
S.Hip little place who do good coffee but against my interpretation of what a shack is used for, I was not allowed to stay the night here and play board games while sipping beer. Had to get an airbnb instead. If they do start offering accommodation it probably will only sleep 3-4
