A.Maybe not the best location - right by Main Rd, BUT one of a very few places where stuff understands what you mean asking for very hot / extra hot coffee!! It was great today! Cheese scones are lovely, too.

G.Tiny little cafe in the southern end of Tawa. I have been wanting to visit for a long time. I finally did. Beautiful coffee, they are famous for their cheese scones. They didn't disappoint. Beautiful fresh delicious. Fantastic service.

A.Absolutely loved this place. I went here very early in the morning as there was nothing much open in the vicinity at 7am. The guys at the till had a big smile and was so welcoming. I had a gourmet panini and coffee with an Argentinian slice. It was super cheap, quality ingredients and lightning fast service. 10/10 for these guys!

J.Always a great time at El Porteno. Great coffee with a good amount of options. I recommend the filter. Food is always excellent with the cheese scones and lemon and poppy seed muffins being my go to. Staff are friendly and make for a great atmosphere.
N.I took my son for a treat scone, after his swimming lesson. Delicious! They have a great reputation and our visit (my second) did not disappoint 😆. They have toys and books for children, so even as the cafe was quite busy we tucked ourselves into the corner and had a lovely time.

A.Scones are Fantastic, coffee is good also - it's not sophisticated in flavour but a solid safe and consistent coffee. I like the addition of a Jersey Caramel on top of my Coffees also. Nice touch!

t.Delicious coffee. It was so smooth! Both the silky milk and the well bodied shot. The décor was clean, light and open with personality in keeping with the name of the cafe including an Argentinian flag in the window. There's a toy basket and an easy to clean, well looked after and adaptable high chair.
M.Walking down on a Saturday morning to have a coffee at cafe El Porteno is simply a great way to start the weekend and a ritual I hate to miss. It has a cool vibe, the staff are friendly and welcoming, the food fresh out of oven and particularly love the orange and chocolate muffins and cheese scones; also appreciate they offer a small muffin option for days when not so hungry or i take my young grandchildren down for a hot chocolate. A quality coffee is essential to this experience and they haven't let me down yet.
