Great location, old style interior from 60's, overall vibe is awesome, friendly staff, prompt service. Fine coffee from humming bird and delicious cheesecakes Very much recommended if you are into the dark side and the ghetto atmosphere with lots of graffiti and chipped away paint.

Enigma has been a favourite of mine since moving to Wellington in 2018. Been here more times than I can remember, but have always had lovely service and great coffee, chai lattes, and cabinet food. One of the best things about this cafe is their opening hours - when everywhere else is closed you can still count on being able to get your coffee from here!

Very cool little spot in the city. They serve an awesome breakfast with great coffee options, and they had loads of desserts, pastries, and even gelato. Their french toast was nice and fluffy. The Eggs Benedict were very good, but they did have just a slightly overwhelming hint of vinegar. It's understandable since they're eggs came out so perfect, and it wasn't a bad flavor, just slightly noticeable. Both the salmon and the bacon options were tasty. Definitely recommend!

I like Enigma Cafe, very nice staff, very nice food, pretty prompt service when when they're pretty busy. Expensive but no more so than any other cafe in this day and age. Capitalism am I right?

Please package deliveries better. Drinks never turn up, my guy literally said that he wasn't given the drink and the packaging was in his rear footwell. Pritty sure you guys give more than five wedges aswell.

Beautiful place to have a a great coffee and lunch. The staff members are friendly and helpful and are willing to help you make decisions about their products. Good place to visit in the city centre of Wellington. It's also easy to find and relax for a while. The interior is street art and classic. So if you are in the area I really recommend this place to visit and enjoy.

I can not lie here, the vege BIG breakfast tasted absolutely amazing and was a huge feed!!! Super chill vibe and great music. Will definitely return when back in wellington in the future

I've only ever been here for the desserts and all of them are just amazing, especially the caramel slice, that gets a 10/10 except the milkshakes, those are terrible. However the every single time I go there the staff are just really cold and act like they can't be bothered serving you, makes you feel like your presence is unwanted.

Cool underground style cafe. Great vibe and friendly staff (nice enough...don't expect lots of smiles though). We ordered a chicken avo panini for $12 which was ok. Coffee is nice. They have icecream and beverage too.

Good options. But please check the price on the display and what is actually charged. The server here doesn't know the prices displayed on the counter and argued that what she charged was right and not the one that is displayed to the public. Other than that coffee was good and so was the food item we bought.

I went with my grandparents and partner, the majority of us had the beer battered fish with fries and salad. I can say this meal was superb, the fish tasted fresh and crispy and tartar sauce was a delicious accompaniment. Great service and atmosphere.

My mum and I loved this place so much that we visited twice in one day! First for brunch, and then for dinner after we explored the city. The food is delicious with a huge menu (both food and drinks) and choice of cabinet foods, and I loved the fact they were playing retrowave in the evening. If I lived in Wellington I would come here all the time!

Usually one of my favourite places. Best hot chocolates and great food, unfortunately when I was there the other day they played only Justin Bieber the entire time - we were there for over an hour. Why. I'm not the biggest fan of his but I don't mind if the occasional song comes on but after a few of them I wanted to leave. I was on a work thing so unfortunately couldn't.

I had the delicious $15 waffles, which were belgian style, hot, and came with plenty of berry compote and mascarpone, and my partner had a chickpea and kumara roll from the cabinet which was tasty and went well with the salad (although they definitely could add more to the salad). They accidentally missed my order at first but apologised profusely and had it out very quickly afterwards. The service was very friendly and polite. I greatly enjoyed my time and appreciated that they were open during Good Friday! I definitely recommend this cafe as a place to go on a date, catch up with friends, or treat yourself!

Loved the outside where the table and chairs are under shelter found it to be alot more nicer, quiet, sheltered & relaxing than inside (especially in summer) the food portion size was very generous and the taste of the food had flavour it wasnt boring - a big thankyou and high five to the chefs. The food didnt take long to come either by the time we sat down had a few sips of our drink and chatted the food was infront of us and it was a busy time too! My partner had the steak and said it was one of the best steaks hes ever had they cooked it how he wanted it. I had the salad and it was very yummy! They are open til late which we found was great we didnt have to rush We scored 9/10 (9 because we felt the drink selection was abit stink eg - no cans or medium sized of coke zero, sprite, fanta, L&P etc all those popular kiwi drinks) it was mostly all small fancy glass bottled drinks the mls inside the glass bottles just wasnt enough! We had to keep sipping away on the water we wernt prepared to pay $4.50 for a glass bottle of small coke 3-4 small mouth fulls and it was gone (especially in summer where we get thristy) put that aside we walked away happy, belly was full...we will be back!

This is a great cafe in Central Wellington open. Open till late so a great choice if you need some. Caffeine in the later hours of the evening. A big outdoor seating out the back. Always disappointing food. This place looks great. I love the ambience and the seating, even the pinball machine. The staff are always happy to help, though they often look tired. Coffee is OK, well made. But I'm yet to get food from here that I've really enjoyed. Always stodgy or bland. Slightly old or rather, not fresh. Varied in the love that's gone into it. I've stopped going because I'm always left disappointed by the food.

The fact that their staff is so amazing, they gained the 3 stars. Otherwise I wouldn't have given them more than 2 stars. The gelato was nice but the cheesecake wasn't good at all. It was very hard and the taste was off. I wish I went somewhere else for the cheesecake because I went to have only cheesecake there and well, that experience was spoiled. The cafe has a good lively vibe but they should try and fix their cheesecake.

This place has let me down the last time I went. I was there for brunch with my friends and the food wait was 1 hour which we didn't mind we Intended to be there a while, and it was a crazy buzy morning. Got the food it was decent but before I could finish it someone took the plate away while I was still eating, despite me repeating I'm still eating that. They also tried to take away my half drunk milkshake which I was just taking my time enjoying. Massive upside though is the gelato milkshakes loved them and you can change the base from milk to juice to make it more like a slushy almost.

Honestly, I love this place. Great staff, great food, and even better with good company. Unless extremely packed the wait for food is almost nothing in comparison to some other places. The quality of the food is also as good as the amount of variety they offer. I recommend this place to everyone. From a short quick coffee or a large meal, it's definitely worth visiting.

Enigma has always been one of our favourite places in Welly for coffee and DESSERT! OMG, the chocolate cake is divine! Though you can't really mess up no matter what dessert you have! This time, for the first time, we went for dinner. Wow! Pleasantly surprised! Good size portions, great price and the taste was wonderful. Fish n' chips, burgers and salads filled us up...though we couldn't pass on the dessert.

They probably mate there, hipsters seem to be guarding their young at all times of the day. They are progressed and take turns looking after the future generation. I don't think any of them know who their parents are. The number of hipsters is rapidly increasing.

My wife likes I here, I can't say why I'm not a fan. It feels dark and dirty, but it isn't. It's actually very clean and well lit. Maybe it's just my perception of it. Food is pretty good and coffee is good. It's cafe, and does what it does pretty well.

Fantastic place for breakfast - they have a great selection of cooked meals and cabinet food (although the tiramisu cake wasn't great). Went in a large groups and everyone was impressed with their breakfasts, from pancakes to eggs benedict and full cooked breakfasts. Nice atmosphere with lots of art/tasteful graffiti - highly recommend eating in the back courtyard area. The large drink size is served in repurposed flowerpots which is pretty cute.

An iconic Cafe on Courtenay Place in Wellington, Enigma is one of those spots to meet people and discuss business. The decor is urban and a bit street, which appeals hugely do a lot of the clientele. My last visit there was just for a business meeting and the mochachino was delicious!

Very large and impressive menu with lots of options for dietary requirements. The price of meals is very reasonable with good portions. Can get a bit noisy when very busy and sometimes you do have to wait a little while for your meal if busy...but is still worth the wait as the food is very nice
