It's a great cafe but on 10 Jan it was shut for holidays. Perfectly reasonable but the Google entry said that they were open for business. Bit annoying. Three stars because I have to star them to provide the feedback.

A local treat. We popped in this week for a work meeting. Coffee was great and the staff were welcoming. The cafe was full - obviously popular. I'm excited to come back and sample some of the counter food.

Reasonable selection of food but being in the suburbs and not accepting paywave was very annoying and then so was sutcharging a credit card.

Excellent service, great atmosphere, coffee great. Try and pop in when in the area. Believe they do catering?

There are not many places to go in Karori, but this one is definitely one not to miss out. Not only the take away food from the display is very nice but also the dine in meals are.

Cannot go past the simplicity and consistency of Gipps St. Regular menu items are winners, the lemon risotto cake being just one fave, and an array of old fashioned sweet treats which are highly sort after. This cafe is one of Karori's open secrets. Very popular but amazingly easy to get a seat considering how small it is.....Sam and his team look after the elderly customers very well, access is good and free parking, so don't hesitate to bring elderly relatives here, they'll love it !

One of my favourite breakfast spots. I love the French toast and their big breakfast is decent too. Always had good coffees here too. Probably the best place in Karori for breakfast.

A hidden gem. I had the big breakfast. Still the best scrambled eggs ever served on ciabatta with bacon, 2 small specialty sausages, creamy mushrooms, 2 home made hash brown balls I got buttery tomatoes as an extra. Hot homemade lemon honey ginger was nice too. Lovely owners and some nice staff. Still an A+ after all these years.

Easily the best spot in karori for coffee and a treat - the food is delicious, and there’s a great community atmosphere.

Great little deli hidden in Karori. I visited for the first time at 8am on a Saturday morning. Counter staff were warm and informative, and the food offerings were impressive. I ordered a chai and poached eggs on sourdough, and was told the chai was their own blend. Not sweet or spicy. Regardless I tried it. I wouldn't call it chai, but I took that risk. Needed sugar and more flavour in my opinion. The eggs however - perfect! I'm fussy about poached eggs. The white must be completely cooked and the yoke runny. I'd given up on cafes making them that way would ask for well done. This chef knew exactly what I meant and I had to celebrate with an internal happy dance. Cooked to perfection! Just a pinch of salt and pepper and I was in my foodie heaven. Thank you GSD for a fantastic foodie experience. There is no doubt I'll be back!

Great staff & delicious food. Feta & spinach quiche is really good, fish pie is famously good but it's usually only available on Fridays. Food is chilled but can be heated on request. They also sell homemade sauces (eg sweet chilli or fiery chilli) which look good but I haven't tried them.

Smaller cakes& pies and bigger prices to purchase.

Amazing baked goods, fresh tasty and ok sort of pricing ,their lemon shortbread decadent and sticky ,lovely

A cosy little suburban gem. Wonderfully delicious slices, fudges, cakes, quiches, salads, rolls, pastries and light lunches - which all seem to be cooked on site. Just the one room and an outdoor porch, but child friendly and the porch is dog friendly - nice, pleasant staff. There is a little deli with a good selection of very nice tidbits- I especially like the Christmas cake ( seasonal). If you’re in Karori, give yourself a treat and visit.

Very busy during the day with local groups getting together in a small space. Have to wait on occasions but coffee and food worthwhile. Great team.

Great cafe with real home made food for takeaway at the small takeout part. Excellent coffee too.

Good coffee. The muffin arrived heated which spoilt the texture and taste.

Fantastic takeaway quiche. Was delicious and had the perfect texture. Whoever said it wasn't good was talking out their arse.

It was my childhood after school spot and i recently went back. Even though it is under new management the feel and food of the place has been kept to high standard
