First time here and it was wonderful. It was very nice to drive out here, enjoying the scenery along the way. We were lucky we got a table after "just" 15 minutes (I heard they can get extremely busy). Friendly staff. I love, love the decor. It brought out the kid in me. Video games, comic book covers, figurines, posters.. Even the menu is pun-tastic! Oh.. And amazing food! Big breakfast done right. And oh boy we also had a nice treat with the boozy milkshakes. Cool place, will definitely come again!

We went to the local beach for a fun day out. My blood sugar dropped very low. I asked my son to go to this cafe and explain what's going on and get them to help buy him something sweet for me. The owner didn't hesitate to put a few sweet treats free in charge in a bag for me. I cant explain to kindness of the cafe. We will definitely be back for a paid meal. The slices was amazing. Thank you so much for helping out.

Love the interior, any comic book geek would go bananas. Make sure to check out the shelf at the counter. Pretty awesome collection there. Even the batmobiles over the years!

Food took ~30 mins on a sunny Saturday day so it was understandable and totally worth it. Ordered the vegetarian version of the nachos. The only 'bad' thing is that nachos get soggy after a while and it's not pleasant to eat. Overall, would go again.

We stopped here for a late brunch on our motorbike ride. First impression of the store is that it's run by people who love lego, comics and futuristic space travel! The store is full of gimmicky paraphernalia from time travel, space and spaceships. Order was a simple flat white, mocha and 2x nachos. Food arrived in a timely manner and the coffee was warm. Would have preferred it to be hotter as it was a cold day outside and I like my coffee hot! Toilet was in an acceptable state and looked reasonably clean. The local friendly cat enjoyed our company while we ate food. Not 100% sure if this cat is an employee.. When I am in welly again I will stop by for another coffee, weather permitting.

Great spot for lunch/brunch! Indoor /outdoor seating with resident cat who comes for a mooch. Nice sunny covered conservatory seating area to keep out of the wind if necessary. Friendly efficient staff happily accommodated our gluten free and dairy free needs. Our waiter was great suggesting the gf/df hashbrowns as a tastier option from the gluten free bread with our salad. It was definitely a winner! The amazing knowledgeable service will ensure we return. Thanks team 🙂

Have been here a handful of times and food is always delicious, really great relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff who provide a great experience. Easily one of the best places in Wellington to eat whether it’s in winter or summer. Reasonably priced aswell for what you get.

Funky brunch place, comic-rich decor and the option to sit outside. Good for kids, big groups, brunch and pet friendly. Be prepared for a long wait on tables if you have not booked. Service is a bit hit and miss - when we were outside the server was not helpful, we had to get our own menus, she did not take orders for a long time and did not bring table water despite the brunch rush subsiding and only a few tables left in her area. Another time when we were sitting inside the server was on point and very attentive. The portions are generous and well seasoned. Coffee is good. Selection of food is also wide and varied - perfect options for a hang over. Punny descriptions in the menu. Food comes out quickly and is delicious. The view is to die for and worth the wait.

Across the road from the scorching bay beach this is a perfect spot to kick back for brunch or coffee with friends. Menu is fun, innovative and informative. Food is worth every penny... and combined with the laid back beach side urban culture ambience it has to be a winner. I am a frequent flyer and it’s invariably busy with waiting queue for tables. I think that says it all. My recommendation has to be the fish... the salty air and fresh juice... this is welly at its finest.

Lots of heart and aroha in a great little Cafe. The fantastic staff here will get you started in either an outside or inside table. Fantastic menu, definitely recommend the Bare Beni with perfectly poached eggs with bacon and hollandaise. The kids had cheese burgers and chips. They must have been good because both of them ate them with astonishing speed. Possibly because of the amazing toys they can play with. Coffee is an important factor in Wellington, and this place does not disappoint. The staff are expert baristas and will supply you with a coffee fix to remember. Decor is a trip in pop culture, with a lego Death Star, an impressive collection of Funko Pop characters, and the Marvel comic feature wall. People young and old will enjoy these nice touches and more. Overall it's a fantastic oasis from when you need a break from the lovely beach outside.

Warmed, packed full of fruit and flavour, crunchy on the outside, and soft and fluffy on the inside. Btw - Covid protocols handled superbly by the staff. Well done team. One of the best places to have breakfast in Wellington if you want to be close to the sea. If the weather is fine, you can sit outside and watch the waves, lovely! Not only the view is good, also the breakfast is delicious. Good service and friendly staff. Plenty of parking in the area.

To be fair, this place is always lush. What's not to like, laid back place looking out over the sea at one of Welly's best little beaches, great menu that has a great light hearted touch with options to suit most dietary requirements. I've been here lots of times and it is very almost a five star, but more often than not, the table service can be slow or inattentive, although this was not the case on my most recent visit.

Great food service etc etc. Visited mid 2019 and not the same place, with indifferent service, luke warm coffee, and felt kinda off the mark. Gave it another try on a gorgeous sunny Sunday November 2020, albeit for a soft drink, but I just got the vibe it's not returned to any former glory. Tell me I'm wrong.....

My partner and I visited for a Wednesday brunch! It was a super sunny day and this restaurant is perfect for enjoying the weather. Our food was fantastic, however the wait for said food was pretty horrendous. I'm usually not one to complain but this aspect was very disappointing. Tomato juice and coffee was delivered pretty quickly, followed by a wait of around an hour for our food. The frustrating part was that customers arriving around us, after having ordered our food, were receiving their food within a matter of minutes. I would like to say the waiter was wonderful and helpful with the situation. I seem to remember something similar happening a few weeks ago when I visited with my parents. Not sure where the problem is but unfortunately a bittersweet breaky. I don't like to complain, but feel the need to write up my experience in this instance. I hope the issue can be addressed if it is a common occurrence - mistakes do happen though!

Not only is the food top notch the service is fast as a pod-racer! The cafe is decorated with merchandise from popular titles such as Marvel, Star-Wars, Pixar, Star-Trek and Lego. Quirky cafe in Scorching Bay with a fantastic sea-front location and views, small, hobbiton-style, bright tables and benches in the sun room, and awesome table service. The quirkiness is part of its enduring charm; even the eyeballing-gulls love it, especially when you vacate your outdoor tables... when a mobster takeover of your leftovers will begin in earnest. Very popular with the locals, near and far.

I was so happy we found this place. Tucked away in a beautiful setting overlooking the sea. Walked in and was seated immediately by a very friendly guy. We laughed at the funny titles in the menu and the clever descriptions of the food. Busy but not too noisy. Coffee was perfect. The food was excellent no complaints at all. This should be Wellington's top cafe. I strongly suggest a visit if you're in the area. We will definitely be back.

Father's Day lunch time-ish, Scorch O Rama was packed and jumping. The staff were fantastic - calm, friendly, efficient, no request - no matter how big or small - was a problem. And the coffee was great and as asked it come when the food was served rather than 30 minutes before. The food was good and the location is terrific. I'd recommend Scorch O Rama highly but that will just mean lots more people will rock up to experience, in my view, the best cafe I have experienced in NZ. This cafe rocks!

This is a great little place for a drink and a meal. There were 4 of us in our party and each of us ordered something different and we all agreed that the food quality was excellent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful in helping us decide on our food and drink. While you are waiting for your food you can either watch the beach or the channel into Wellington Harbour or shop for art posted on the walls. The day we were there was pretty quiet but I'm sure that on a nice day the channel is busy with sailers and wind surfers, etc.

Fabulous day in Wellington today, so Scorch O Rama was a great place for lunch today. It is one of favourite places on the Penninsular. It was very busy today so there was a delay in the food arriving, but who cares when there is a great view out of the window. We had crumbed fish with chips and cold slaw. Couldn't fault it and it was value for money.
