Reviews of The Hangar
B.
A beautiful dynamic restaurant with amazing breakfast. The food was truly cooked to perfection, the coffee was out of this world, the customer service was world class with staff very accommodating and happy to be flexible, and best of all open on New Year's Day! Highly recommended!
L.
Amazing ambience, great coffee and food and a super plus for being open on New year's day! Highly recommend. The friendly service tops it all. A total gem in central Wellington and only a 10 minute walk from our hotel!
P.
Awesome selection of coffee.
Recommend a flight, you get to taste a bit of everything. And of course you gotta get a cheese scone.
K.
Great coffee and pleasant service!
The bennys look delightful and taste it too. We tried the white coffee tasting paddle. Those are double shot coffees guys, don’t do it alone! Each one had a different flavor. nice.
M.
OMG, this coffee shop is sooo good!!!! Thanks to the team were working on Labour's public holiday, you made my day with that amazing flat white.
As a skilled barista I can guarantee the coffee you will get from this place is 10/10 😍 Tina
A.
Lovey atmosphere with friendly staff ! The 4C mocha was chocolatey and packed with beautifully roasted coffee💗 it was absolutely delightful! Came with a friend who had flight of flat white which the barista explained the different tastes of each one and wow she was so amazed !! Highly recommend
M.
Love the coffee as its very aromatic and taste slightly different from usuals. Food taste great and the price is reasonable. The environment looks great to chill and hang out.
C.
Really good! Baristas have won NZ champs. They have a coffee menu and tastings. Coffee was excellent and the sausage role was awesome.
J.
Great place to experience coffee and good food. Coffee 3 ways, or a flight of 3 coffees is definitely something to try. Top tip: go early, as The Hangar is very popular. Highly recommended!
L.
The best coffee experience ever. I had a long black which was so good I went back for seconds. Great relaxed atmosphere with wonderfully helpful and friendly staff.
S.
Always enjoy coming here. Friendly, quick service. Great menu that changes seasonally to keep things interesting. Love the French Toast, and some of the best single origin filter coffee in Wellington.
P.
A cool place, that looks like an airport hangar. Great coffee and brunch menu. In the heart of Wellington. I really liked this place it had a good vibe and you can tell people there came for the coffee and stayed for the atmosphere.
Y.
We went there for Flat White fight, and that was amazing! I did coffee cupping many times, but here I had great experiences with flat white. Coffee in 3 different ways was also good, now we know what types of coffee is our favorite. Food was amazing and all stuff were friendly.
R.
Went for brunch, we ordered Salmon Florentine and Fried Chicken Bao. Both dishes were delicious. Coffee was nice too. Would love to go there again.
J.
must try place if you are a coffee lover. friendly staff.
A.
We were made to feel so welcome on arrival (with 2 small children in tow). Service was super friendly and efficient, and they were more than happy to cater to our needs. Food and coffee were fantastic. Overall it was a really enjoyable experience.
P.
10/5 for amazing and friendly service from every staff member that served us this morning. Great vibes, busy place.
Smoked salmon was a bit dry for my liking, but spinach and eggs were 👌
Great place to do coffee tastings with friends as they come in full sizes. Look forward to the day when they serve smaller tasting portions for one 😊
K.
Surprisingly disappointed on my most recent visit here, used to be a favourite when I was living nearby but just doesn’t have the same vibe or nearly as nice coffee anymore. Service was clinical & cold. Over-extracted & gritty texture of my espresso & my flat white was all milk, could barely taste the coffee itself.
K.
It is impossible to say enough good about this place. We were in town for two days and it was so good the first day that we came back a second time.
To start, in a country with great coffee this stands out as having great coffee. They offer flights and tasting menus. The drip was outstanding and intensely flavourful. The espresso was some of the best I have ever had.
Food is all rich and fresh and full of flavour. It’s a tough call to recommend more, as everything we ate was exceptional.
But the standout was the spicy fried chicken on french toast. Incredible.
Go here. Maybe twice!
K.
Great place to have different arrays of coffee, got their 'flight of the flat whites' (I think) and it was such a unique experience. Great latte art, temperature and milk texture too! (@nzcafereviews on insta)
P.
Wonderful space. Superb coffee. Great place for breakfast. Sparkling water on the table is a lovely touch.
S.
Visited here for the first time last month. The food not only looked great but tasted fantastic. I also can't compliment the barista more. His coffee was fantastic....I just wish I lived in Wellington so I could visit more often
B.
A nice little sit down cafe for catch ups. Some nice sweets to enjoy with their decent coffee. Good service too.
T.
Was the first coffee place we went to on our arrival in Wellington and we did not regret it at all. Great coffee, great food which was really tasty. And our waitresses were super nice. Recommend without a doubt 😊
C.
Scone was excellent. The aged cheddar gave it a nice kick. Less on the flakey side but light nonetheless.
M.
Great service, friendly staff and amazing food. Tumeric latte was spot on too. Highly recommended
A.
One of the Best coffee i visited ! Many options for coffee lovers, various tastes and the food are awesome. Great atmosphere a'd lovely service from the staff. I recommend the Friend Chicken Bacon French Toast, you'll love it !
S.
Wonderful place for great coffee and breakfast. The idea to do flight tastings of the current single origin beans is great, haven't seen that one before
D.
Great coffee great sunday brunch that runs all day. We had the eggs benedict with slow cooked duck leg and it was great the only detail was one of the eggs was over cooked so instead of poached it came out soft boiled but the dish was still delicious, the fresh peppercorns over the hollandaise where an amazing touch. We also ordered the fried sriracha chicken burguer and the bacon fries, both where good too but I think the best was the benedicts and offcourse the coffee. Had a short black of the colombian single origin and was superb. Best coffee we've tried in Wellington so far.
R.
Cheese Scone Review : A sizable scone, but surprisingly light. Room temperature butter, much appreciated. Nice light touch on the herbs and spices. Delicate flavour, nice finish. A bit floppy and soft, I'd prefer a bit more crispness, and the size is quite a meal. Overall though a very good scone. 76/100.
The coffee is of course excellent. Overwhelming array of coffees and styles on offer. Excellent staff who take the time to understand what you really like, and help you make a good selection.
I'll be back.
R.
Great food and service. Can get busy so get there early to avoid missing a table. Pictured are the crumpet and the breakfast burrito. Thanks!
K.
Coffee roasted by Flight Coffee with the full range available here, including tasting flights. Food is also nice and service is warm.
i.
Wonderful coffee shop, well placed in the CBD and the staff are very friendly. The coffee is incredible - we didn't have time but the tasting flight for $15 looked great!
L.
The place has a really interesting vibe. Very industrial and hip. The food menu looks like someone with a lot of knowledge experimented a little. Took me a long time to decide between all the fantastic descriptions. You should try the hot chocolate. Best I have ever had...and I drink a lot of it ☺️
V.
The staffs are doing extremely great! Very friendly and helpful.. the coffee and ambience are very good too.. had flight coffee before but not as good as what they served.. thank you!
S.
My favourite café when I'm visiting Wellington. Great vibe and friendly staff.
J.
A pretty nice piece of art before eating and drinking it. Love it!
Taste was average for me.
Place deco was nice but it can be quite noisy during the peak.
L.
Stopped by this morning as I had heard great things, and I was not disappointed!! The flight of flat white was such a cool experience and the service was stellar. Can't wait to head back!
J.
Great service with a huge selection of coffees. The menu had excellent choice and the food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. We were there for a couple of hours and were looked after really well.
J.
If you are looking for a place with great tasting coffee and food, then head to The Hangar. We visited during the busiest hour and day but the service was still perfect. For the coffee connoisseurs out there, we recommend that you try the flat white trio (from memory, it might have been called flight of flat white). And for the food lovers, make sure you give the pancakes a go!
P.
I found this café in one of the in-flight magazines. I reached here just 20 mins before its closing time. The staff here knew so much about their coffees. I went ahead with their recommendation & I am glad I did it. Go for their specials. I loved the ambiance here.
O.
Veeeery good coffee and nice selection for brunch, but a bit pricy. The eggs on toast would need an extras to be added; even though they are tasty like that too.
C.
Some of the best coffee and food I have EVER had...and I have been to a lot of cafes!
An absolute gem, can't wait to visit again
D.
Friendly, attentive staff, excellent coffee and delicious food. Airy space, but still cosy on a cool morning. Some comfy seats. This place has it all.
J.
A fantastic cafe to grab some lunch and coffee. And if you are in the mood, their latte or coffee trio is an unique and enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.
S.
Awesome place! Delicious coffee and food, super friendly and helpful stuff, nice vibe and atmosphere.
A.
WOW! Awesome place! If you like good coffee - you definitely should check this place; if you are after good food check this place. 👍👍👍👍👍
We went there for breakfast. The food was yum 😋😋😋 and my coffee fix was divine 👌👌👌. The service was outstanding!
Thank you guys!
N.
Great coffee shop in Wellington. Ordered the Flat White flight, which was a selection of three flat whites using different beans. Absolutely delicious and learnt something new about coffee which is always a bonus.
A.
Amazing coffee and lovely helpful staff. The Hangar team take great pride in serving the best blends and I love their tasting paddles of filter coffee. Excellent value and the service and ambience is great.
L.
Very cozy atmosphere, good service and nice environment. Mocha are good, croissant and muffin perfect.
M.
Had the most amazing breakfast and mocha at The Hangar! Completely blown away by how good it was and will definitely come back! Highly recommend!
J.
So delicious, I could go back so many times for those scrambled eggs and toast. I would probably ask for the eggs to be a bit runner though, but that's just my preference. The coffee was truely amazing too. Could really taste and even smell the difference over other cafe's beans.
P.
What a beautiful place to have a break, good coffee, great breakfast, very nice employes and a 5 star service. Thank's guys!
P.
The best cinnamon roll ever!! Amazing service and coffee!!!! Thanks Flight coffee
S.
Best fish sandwich ever! Lovely cafe with great ambience, delicious food and friendly service. Came with a group of 5 and got a table pretty easily. Will definitely be back.
T.
Quintessential kiwi coffee shop with good food options. Had the flight of flat whites which was perfect after the ferry journey and before a drive further north.
D.
Breakfast was really good. Coffee was amazing. Can't wait to go back!
L.
Friendly-as staff that remember your name and your coffee order. And speaking of coffee, it's top-notch.
K.
Cons: weird order system. After 15mints waiting, we, a couple, were led to the seat and ordered food immediately. Then a staff told me that our order would not be processed until the other people who sat earlier than us made an order. It does not make sense in terms of efficiency.
Food was ok. Both chicken burger and Halloumi salad were $22. I think it’s pricy. 味道馬馬虎虎而有一點貴。服務員說我們要等別的客人訂好因為他們比我們早一點來坐位子。我不了解他們的做法。
D.
I don’t drink coffee, but I do here.
Brilliant
R.
Great coffee! Love the varieties to choose from. Busy place with a great vibe. Food was good too.
W.
Coffee is good (not the best!) But vibe is GREAT. Friendly service as well.
D.
One of my favourite cafes in New Zealand! Great food, amazing coffee and cool fit out. A must check out for anyone in Wellington.
N.
Haven’t been here for over a year but it is still just as good . We really appreciated the server walking us through the different coffee flavours and types and giving us help in ordering .
Someone in our group got the coffee tasting plate and I think we were all a bit jealous , it looked amazing .
We loved the food , lots of vegetarian options and the Mediterranean benny was delicious . The lemon meringue French toast also went down a treat at our table
l.
Absolutely loved it here! The flight board is great to have your own coffee tasting, trying 3 different blends of filtered coffee and paired it with a tasty vegan cake.
A.
L.
The Americana coffee was warm and a bit bitter. The latte was much nicer
L.
The staff at this cafe are super friendly and helpful. I always feel like I get a warm welcome when I come here. I really like that they have a range of drinks that are a little bit different. I've had a ginger lemonade that was homemade, and a pink smoothie which was delicious. So it's great to go there if you don't drink coffee. Right at the top of Dixon Street, and well worth the walk
N.
A cozy place to hangout with friends, good food and coffee. Staff are super friendly.
D.
Great taster of coffees but waited an hour and didn't get served for food so left
S.
The best cafe in Wellington for coffee, tea, food and super friendly but professional service.
The Hangar is a prime example of a cafe filled with very knowledgeable and super professional staff members who all love the art & craft of coffee making and who really value customers from the moment they walk through the door to the moment they leave.
If you are after a world class speciality coffee experience this is the place to go in Wellington. No other cafe in Wellington offers the experience, ambience and knowledgable/passionate staff as the Hangar does.
This place is always buzzing. Which is the best sign and makes for an even better experience as you get to see masters at there craft in full swing. Even when the cafe is at full capacity the service, coffee and food is top level.
If you are a budding coffee nerd/professional/hospo worker and want to gain inspiration from highly professional people in the industry make sure you visit and talk to the super friendly staff.
I hear that Nico (the one that shouts 'Hi guys welcome') who is one of the world class baristas there is a latte art master and if asked he will draw you a camel with milk in your flat white. A CAMEL WITH MILK!!!
My top coffee shop in Wellington.
Big love team. Thank you!
M.
Used The Hangar some years back. It was good then. Thought I'd revisit and check it out. Mmm....not so great on this occasion. Great welcome, good vibe, but the skinny flat white had a peculiar froth on top that didn't look so creamy, more like some oil or grease had got into the mix? OK so perhaps 'skinny really does mean no cream. Decided to hang around a bit (no pun intended), do some catch up on calls etc, so ordered scrambled eggs on toast. Great service, nice n hot, but there was that greasy kind of feel n taste again. I'm not tasting butter, oh and another flat white confirmed the oily froth. Not sure what's happening here guys, love the vibe and service, but younger to be using real skinny milk and button the bread would help the old taste buds. Ciao for now!
H.
Great food. Great coffee. Great service. Highly recommended. 👍
D.
Great coffee but low quality food. The menu changed last year to variations of the same dish., such as a bacon butty etc. Go for coffee, go elsewhere for food.
J.
Great coffee and decent good too
A.
The food was nice but the coffee was a let down.
V.
Really good coffee here, but there are no sugar suchets, it is very disappointing when you take coffee to go.
M.
Amazing, friendly service and the food was delicious. Coffee there is spot on. Highly recommended if you wanted to try out different types of Coffee beans.
H.
I love The Hangar! One of my fav places to eat in Welly - they have the best cheese and pesto scones and the workers are just delightful! Went in today for an iced choc and a chicken burger and we weren't disappointed
I.
Loved the atmosphere, even if there are massive construction work outside, and the cafe feels warm and sociable with some great flavors for breakfast
D.
The food is good, size is average for what you pay. Lots of selection for coffee
S.
The best goddamn muesli I've ever had! Coffee flights are a genius idea and the staff are super friendly!
A.
Simple and nice interiors. Coffee flat white was not up to the mark but the food scramble eggs on toast & the muffin was perfect. Definitely recommend .
N.
Decent! Great coffee but could perhaps do with more vegan food options is all I would say. What I did have was good though
L.
I’ve heard so many great things about this place and how amazing the coffee is. I even witnessed some shiny awards when I entered the cafe. Unfortunately the place seems to have lost its good reputation because the coffee we received wasn’t amazing. I ordered a soy mocha and when made exceptionally well, the consistency should still be quite creamy but instead it was watery and the coffee was burnt. It wasn’t all bad when the food came out though. That’s one thing they have going strong is there delicious brunch meals.
A.
Got the flight of long blacks and I honestly think it was some of the best coffee I've ever had. This place hands down beats a lot of melbourne cafes. The guy that served us was very knowledgable and passionate about the coffee and a pleasure to deal with. The food was really good too... had a Christmas ham dish and loved it. Just the one toilet though... believe me, if you get the flight of coffees you're gonna need it 🤭
B.
One of the best cafes in town! I love the friendly service, how quick the coffees come out, the fact they have coconut milk, that the atmosphere is so cozy, and that they have a great menu. My only criticism is that there aren’t many gluten free options available on the menu. Otherwise, would recommend to whomever is in the area looking for a cuppa.
J.
Absolutely recommended. Great coffee options. Good all day menu with some more unusual offerings rather than the usual breakfast/lunch fare. Excellent smoothie of the day. Tea was good but pricey at $5 - they were happy to do a refill of the pot. Coffee sampling flight is a smart idea for 2 people.
A.
One of the best coffees I have ever had. Staff is super friendly and takes pride in their work. A must place if you are a coffee fan.
D.
Went for brunch on Sunday morning. Their staff are friendly, but not very efficient. We waited for 20 mins to be seated, which is fine as they were busy, but then the actual table service was slow and forgot our coffee orders.
Their Winter Benedict doesn't quite live up to expectations either
D.
Best consistent coffee in town 👌🏻 Somehow the baristas are able to produce the same quality every time. Amazing! Lovely staff will recognize you. Food is very good but the portions are a bit small if you're hungry.
Dez & Cap
S.
Excellent food & coffee, very nice & friendly staff, good atmosphere. Breakfast burrito is well worth a try!
A.
The Hanger is just a great place to head to. For specialty coffee, it's one of the best in Wellington. They have a great of coffee to have on site - from flat whites and long blacks, to soft brew/filter coffee on the fetco and some great cold brew options. Love what you try? Great - you can take home a baggy to brew at your leisure. Get there.
도.
Good coffee. Good food. Drop by if you are in Wellington :)
K.
Really good origin coffees. I've done a cupping of an espresso, flat white and cold brew; they kept me going all day
C.
Always friendly service, great vibe over all. The industrial feel is fitting to the name, but it still feels clean. Consistently good coffee too. I do wish there were more cabinet options, but the selection is understandable with the feel they seem to be going for.
v.
Lovely Staff , Nice Coffee and eggs menus are perfect.
R.
Great coffee, awesome food, super friendly staff.
A.
Food is Fantastic, Coffee is always top notch with something new to try regularly. Wait staff are quick and polite, they also do a good job of keeping the tables rotating. Have yet to have a bad experience here. Keep up the good work!
M.
Superb spot for breakfast in the capital of NZ. The staff are all great, the coffee and selection of coffee is amazing and I have yet to have anything but delicious food.
I.
Cool place with an interesting and unique coffee selection. The service we had was very good, however the food a little below expectations. This was our first time there and it was very busy, so I'd be keen to check it out again another time.
T.
Highly recommended 🥰
N.
A hip trendy place with probably the best flat white we have tried. The staff I very friendly and do of energy.
You should definitely try the coffee flights (a selection of different coffees that allow you to tell the differences between the different varieties.
Breakfast is also great with excellent plates and you can tell the produce is fresh.
Our is definitely worth a stop especially early in the morning.
D.
Gorgeous cafe at quite a secret location - I would've totally passed by The Hangar if I wasn't looking for it!
My family and I came for brunch and had a great time. I would recommend the blueberry french toast which was the standout. In contrast, the curry was nice but a little dry and something I wouldn't order again. All the best to the Hangar!
H.
Delicious coffee and food. However, had to wait a while (15ish mins) for a sausage roll to be heated up for takeaway, hence the three stars.
J.
Great cafe and food, and friendly staff. Only reason for four stars unfortunately is because there are zero options to order even takeaway if you’re with a dog,as there is nowhere outside suitable to safely tie dogs up while ordering, and they won’t let dogs inside at all. I wish they would add something simple at the doorway so I can whip in and get a coffee on our morning walk 🐕
C.
Delicious coffee, good food and lovely staff
S.
By far the best coffee experience in NZ so far. Sit at the bar and talk to the staff for the best experience as they want to tell you about coffee and the brewing of it. Food was insanely good. Great soundtrack too! Not sure if this is a place for work and laptop club but for a great coffee and food this is the best spot in welly for me
F.
Brisket Benny is the best Benedict you'll ever eat.
K.
Excellent service. Food wise, 6.50 out of 10 I can give. Not very impressive but acceptable. Nice coffee too but watch out of the turmeric latte because not everyone can accept the strong spice flavour.
L.
One of the best coffee in town!!!
It'd pretty cool that you can decide from some special coffees
S.
Expensive for what you get. Not much variety. Nice staff
S.
Fabulous place, hidden away but a must try. The coffee and food were delish! Service was inviting and attentive without being intrusive. Tried the Halloumi butty which was cooked prefectly, will return!
A.
It’s a nice space, surprises you with its openness considering it’s in the heart of the city. Good service. The usual fare since I had simple scrambled eggs. Nevertheless, the side order of bacon was tasty, but the toast was a little under done. Worth a visit, and the menu did have a couple of interesting dishes. Next time.
A.
the tea was also incredible, best quality and quantity
h.
Best coffee I have ever had!!! Make it nearly seem worth paying $6 for a medium cup worth. This place doesnt have your normal breakfasts- they are different but very delicious. Quite pricey but nice for a treat! Great music and friendly staff! :)
F.
Great cafe. One of Wellington's best and that's saying something. Coffee range is unsurpassed and the food is pretty decent. Black coffee is the specialty here, so look out for their amazing lighter roasts.
R.
Awesome spot to go for a coffee and something to eat. Both times the place was packed and I can see why. I am unsure whether they have quieter times during the day. The coffee is also top notch and the service was great.
J.
Great food. Staff are friendly and happy. Music is groovy and the location terrific. Decor funky and relaxed and the crowd sort of matches this place. It's almost magazine style perfect..
and then there's the suspended coffee/pay it forward that I totally loved. Go there for some great food and great groove.. a Wellington treasure!
M.
As a barista, I knew that I would not be likely to get a cafe quality coffee out of my home espresso machine, but I knew that finding the right coffee bean would be vital. This was proving challenging, until now. I tried 'Bomber' this morning and it was the best coffee I have had out of my machine. As good as the best cafe coffee. Rich crema and a smooth taste. Thanks Richard and Co, and my taste buds thank you as well.
J.
Great hippy place for coffee!
M.
Excellent tuned coffee flavours, their own roasted coffee contained in individual metal containers for the freshest of flavours cultivated by their talented and friendly team
B.
Great food, really great coffee. Definitely try the haloumi fries, and the Greek donut dish was exceptional. No wifi here if you're travelling. Also, the flat white flight would have been better to arrive 5-10 minutes apart, third one was cold by the time I got to it. Great spot!
M.
Amazing coffee with a lot of options, and they can also tell you about all the details. Delicious eggs Benedict (we had Christmas version). Great service, people are very friendly.
B.
The best scrambled eggs of my life. I had the pumpkin dukkah toast with a side of eggs. The ingredients were fresh and well worth a second or third trip to try the rest of the menu. Ambience was also trendy and hip - absolutely loved it. Coffee wasn't bad too - like the flight concept.
J.
Another good experience at The Hangar today. Staff are geat, and coffee is always on point. Wasn't super convinced at the special (Sausage Chu) for breakfast but not bad by any means.
I always try stop by here when I'm in Wellington and will continue to do so 👍🏼
L.
Never disappointed when at The Hanger. Still our favourite food and coffee in Wellington by far.
C.
Great selection of coffee. Not incredibly diverse menu options especially for anyone with dietary requirements. Wee bit more expensive than other places. Lots of seating but if you were with a large group might be difficult to accommodate you all. It's gets busy and noisy. Staff can be a bit hit or miss in how hospitable and friendly they are. Would recommend it though, like I said, really good coffee
E.
Emmmm... cold coffee at this place reminded me on milk bottles you get from supermarket. Please use another type of packaging. It reminded me of something made in the factory..
E.
Possibly my favourite coffee and brunch spot in Wellington. The food is incredible and changes throughout the year - not your average cafe food either, great twist on classic favourites as well as interesting original creations. The coffee here is, in my opinion, the best in Wellington. Try a Gino - a specialised filter coffee that tastes like nothing else. Flight Coffee's lighter roast is an awesome drop at any time but here in the Gino it really shines. Drop on by, it won't disappoint. Take note though, they don't take bookings and are very popular, so there can sometimes be a wait for a table bit it's a wait that's worth it in my opinion.
S.
Don't get confused, you can't hang your washing here! But I did discover they have the best coffee in Wellington with a lot of different beans to try, good luck if your trying to keep your coffee intake below 3 cups a day 😉
A.
Would say a hipster place. Usual cafe price. Avg of $50 for two.Fresh beans and coffee drip.
J.
Great coffee and good food options. Probably one of the best coffee options in Wellington and its evident by the long lines on a weekend morning. A short stroll from the center of the city, staff are friendly and helpful. One of my regular stops when Im in Wellington
R.
Called in for breakfast today. Straight away greeted by friendly staff who directed us to our table. I had the burrito which was flavoursome. Coffee was great!
P.
Without a doubt one of my favourite Cafe's in Wellington cbd. With such an awesome, ever changing variety of coffee it's hard to go wrong. On top of that they have multiple different extraction methods, meaning you can order the same coffee three times and it will be different each time! The food here also rocks, with the full Irish breakfast being a personal fave! Atmosphere is also always vibing, plenty of people and staff to keep you feeling welcome!
D.
Good coffee and food options in a hip atmosphere. Didn't want to wait for table service, so got take-away instead. Coffee took a bit longer than it should have, and one of our drinks got forgotten, but I'd be willing to give it another shot, as it seems like a nice place to sit back and breakfast/brunch.
D.
The best coffee so far in Wellington! And amazing food!
M.
FANTASTIC!! As a family we were introduced to the “Flight of flat white” and the “Flight of the filter” Amy was our waitress who was awesome, so friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you Amy for making our holiday special and giving us an intense Coffee Rush :)
C.
Enjoyed my coffee and chicken burger. Great staff and good place to work.

This place is deffo a top coffee connoisseur's place.
Loads of beans and Brew methods to try and take home. Food was good quality and a selection of omnivorous and vegan stuff (they even let me eat my cinnabun from SRCaT in there!) I bought chips and a Brew coffee (ChuChu?) and the staff were friendly, informative and service was swift.
The decor is pretty average but if you wanted to try a bunch of different coffees, this place would be a good regular haunt to keep your coffee knowledge expanding.
M.
This place is fantastic. We are from Brisbane Australia and we were in search of great coffee. This place doesn't disappoint. The meals also looked amazing. Extremely busy but worth the wait!!
F.
Clean, kind enough. Could be better with thicker espresso in their flat white.
K.
Let's get this out of the way first, The Hanger may be the roastery from whence some very fine coffee takes flight, but as a structure it is unavoidably shed like - concrete blocks and pleasingly pared back wooden fixtures - but let's not be pedantic, it's great, the coffee is the star turn here, there are even flights - pun intended - of coffees for initiates to explore different beans or preparations, the esoterica is presented in a manner that's both clear and fun. On my second trip in three days I took a friend and we tried a trinity of flat whites with a spritz of bubbly water in between to assist in the discrimination. I found myself waxing enthusiastic about a Rwandan bean grown at 2000 meters above sea level, washed and well you get the idea. If coffee's not your thing or the weather turns nasty there was a "slow roasted" Whittaker's 72% cocoa hot chocolate, oh my.
The staff are attentive and affable without overplaying it, happy to talk coffee should you wish, my first trip I was offered the choice of "complementary" sparkling or still water, on the second visit a bottle of still water was provided with no discussion, a minor quibble.
The food is a tight toothsome selection of cafe standards with a few more substantial offerings for the ravenous, classics you might say, executed with finesse, much to savour, the fries get a big mention on the menu, sadly I didn't try this time, so can't confirm but something else for make a third trip enticing.
P.
Some of Wellingtons best coffee. Always packed for brunch, can get a bit loud. The Laksa bowl is awesome, like all their meals it comes as a pretty big portion. Eggs Benedict with pulled pork is awesome as well.
M.
Good coffee for a good chat. I go there every two weeks and the coffee is made exactly the same. Thanks team
L.
Awesome fast service. Food is delicious!😘Love the decor, first time in Wellington from Dubai. Nice laid back atmosphere. Relaxed place. I will come again. Enjoyed my breakfast shukran! Service with a smile. Mashallah!!
I.
If you're looking for coffee options, you won't find more variety than at the Hangar. Always a 10/10 cup, amazing customer service, and super tasty food. Cozy Cafe vibe. Make sure to check this place out!
L.
We had the flight of filter - what an experience. Like a tasting flight of beer or wine, we were delivered a tray of 3 different filter coffees with palate cleansing sparkling water on the side.
The tasting notes were great. The person who delivered the flight gave a great explanation of how to enjoy the experience. And we did. They also anticipated that we were going to share the tasting flight and brought us two glasses of sparkling water.
We also shared the cheese scone with bacon jam. Yummy.
The waiter that seated us was in a bit of a mood, but that wasn't enough to sour our enjoyment.
M.
Hanger wake you up from Hangover!
Wonderful food, service so quick and ambience love it!
P.
Great coffee and nice people
L.
Best coffee in New Zealand. This place clearly focus on the quality of the cup rather than trying to serve you the chepeast beans in a record time. Always well done independently of whom is behind the machine. Love it.
T.
Wow... these guys are great!. I recently hosted a 21st Birthday and they provided a great venue, great food and a great service. They were super easy to deal with and nothing was too much trouble. Overall I would recommend these guys as a venue for up to 50-60 people. Thanks guys we had a blast!
N.
Delicious food, fantastic coffee, lovely service
S.
I come here regularly for coffee and the odd bite too when i have time, coffee here is consistant and the staff are always friendly with prompt serivce here. I have to admit though, i had some eggs on toast with some added bacon, eggs were cooked perfectly, toast was done to the point that it was crispy but not rock hard like most sourdough's you find at some cafes, but my disappointment came when i had the bacon :( i personally like it full crispy with that delicious bacon saltiness, however the texture wasn't what i was disappointed about, it was because it was bland bacon. I dont have a high salt tolerance, so for me to say it was bland means it was very bland. Will still try again and update!
L.
A variety of coffees to select. Staff know them too! Food delicious. Great for breakfast or a light lunch. Non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks served here. Wheelchair accessible bathroom and entry.
S.
Excellent! Take their coffee seriously and a brilliant menu to boot.
A.
Awesome coffee! Also, really friendly staff who are happy to explain the menu & help you decide what coffee you want. Will be back next time I’m in Wellington.
S.
Coffee is lovely and original, food is nice and there's good choice. I just wish you had more space! It's a small space with maybe too many tables squeezed in. My only complaint
M.
The hand-brew is excellent. They have some cool coffee options. If you are a coffee connosuier definitely give it a go. Some good food too.
D.
Super cool and hipster coffee bar in Wellington. I took the team there for a meeting. Lots of different ways to try coffee, it was a huge talking point. It was a little more expensive than other cafes, but worth it.
C.
Yum home made fries.
Great coffee
Staff were very friendly and attentive
Quick and efficient service
Great place to go when you only have a quick lunch break🙂
M.
Quite a quant lil cafe, feels like Melbourne.
S.
Friendly service, good coffee, and surprisingly some of the best fries in recent memory. Can tell the kitchen cares about their craft.
J.
A good place with excellent coffee, but almost a victim of its own success. The place is so busy that it's hard to sit down and enjoy a coffee without feeling pressured to move on. There is often a queue to get a seat during peak times.
M.
One of my top three coffee place in Wellington! Awesome selection of espresso, drip, filter, immersion coffee with many different changing beans! Good service to boot.
A.
Great service, wonderful coffee. Happy to support this place as a Wellington institution.
A.
Nice space, but the coffee could be better. We didn’t order food but it looked good, but pricey for what it was. Staff were nice and not fussed we only wanted to drink coffee during lunch peak hours.
P.
Great atmosphere. Had a filter coffee tasting panel. Stand out Ethiopian, real bergamot flavor. Bought the beans! Service was a little slow & disinterested - losing 1 star for this.
M.
Lovely big (Irish) brekkie, although soda bread is a bit moisture zapping :)
Wicked service, very friendly but not over the top - thanks
And of course, like many of the best Wellington cafes it looks funky, has a cool vibe.
Oh, it is also very popular, so expect to have to either wait for a few mins or just take the table you're given (which is all fine and dandy really)
N.
Giving this place a 3 because it almost could be great, but really fell short for me, especially considering the price. Bf ordered the Irish big breakfast and his potatoes were undercooked, fried egg was a little raw on top and the soda bread was plain bad tasting. I ordered the kumara potato cake with poached egg, which was really good! staff were friendly but a little forgetful with some things, the tumeric latte is tasty af. All in all was okay, but wouldn't hurry back there.
A.
Nice staff and atmosphere, the coffee blend is too light for me. Doesn’t have that much coffee taste. But I’m sure other people enjoy that kind of coffee.
J.
Great coffee wirh awesome staff
P.
As someone who seeks out eggs benedict wherever I go, I can say The Hanger's Brisket Bennie was truly the best ever. Truly. Long Machiato coffee was excessively milky (one star deducted) but very good coffee nonetheless.
E.
Great food, lovely hot chocolate and super friendly service. Unfortunately my partner who loves coffee doesn't like the coffee she gets here!
R.
I love The Hangar, can't rate it highly enough. The service is always outstanding, great food and always an interesting menu. They do a great selection of coffee too and the staff are always keen to talk with you about it
Z.
Best coffee in Wellington and staff are very friendly. I like how they have sparkling or still water. The decor is nice too.
T.
Elk burger for Wellington On A Plate.
Great environment and food. Burger a little Dry, but not enough to make it unpleasant and with the relish and chips with Aioli it was nearly perfect. 4.5 stars for the burger.
Hangar is always good value.
J.
Great to come here for a quick breakfast in the morning on a busy day; both food & coffee was promptly prepared and very satisfying. Service was good, but stood waiting for a table just a bit long - very friendly and prompt, otherwise.
C.
Good brunch OK cakes
S.
Good coffee! Spacious, a few solid vegan options.
P.
Everything was fantastic! Great coffee, had the eggs Benedict with spiced pork. Will come here again!
J.
They have their own coffee which is really good but we come here for the food which is super delicious. Sometimes hard to find a table though and parking in that area of town can be a pain.
N.
Was there on a Sunday and it was a little cramped. Food was good but pricey and the coffee did not taste so good to me, but partners was fine. They gave me a replacement no worries but just not me.
H.
Great place for coffee. Highly recommended! Very friendly staff. One of them loved talking to me about coffee!
Also, delicious musli!
C.
Excellent selection of coffee to choose from, couldn't fault the place.
N.
Definitely one of the most consistently quality coffee shops in Wellington. Offering a great range of different origin/blend coffees and a really interesting menu.
M.
Nice decor. Food menu looks good but a little on the expensive side for us. Coffee we tried was OK. You can also order a flight of coffee - what a great idea.
M.
The service here is amazing, the coffee options are awesome, as is the food. I had the brisket benedict - a surprisingly good combo.
K.
Always a great stop on a Welly trip!!
J.
Had a Columbian roast few weeks ago, 9 times out of 10 I drink black. The water of this long black was the perfect temperature, not boiling, I think it was from the group, as the coffee was espressoed it was the same temperature and didn't burn/turn bitter. Send me some coffee to the UK?
L.
Love the coffee and green tea...
Superb atmosphere...
G.
Excellent. Food and coffee great. Tried lots of breakfast places in NZ whilst on Lions Tour. They were all good but this was the best. Two visits.
R.
Great coffee, good veggie options, delicious cheese scones, good vibes, friendly staff
S.
Great coffee, service and food. Try the speciality coffee to compare how different beans or brewing methods affect the flavour!
A.
Some of the best coffee in Wellington, The Hangar uses Flight coffee.
A good range of cakes available, with some vegan options. Substantial coffee menu, including three options of tasting flights, each with three double shot coffees.
A.

h.
Best coffee I have ever had!!! Make it nearly seem worth paying $6 for a medium cup worth. This place doesnt have your normal breakfasts- they are different but very delicious. Quite pricey but nice for a treat! Great music and friendly staff! :)
E.
Possibly my favourite coffee and brunch spot in Wellington. The food is incredible and changes throughout the year - not your average cafe food either, great twist on classic favourites as well as interesting original creations. The coffee …
J.
Wonderful food and coffee!!
G.
Great coffee and desserts! Nice for a chat or date
K.
Flight Coffee is my favorite roaster in Wellington by a fair bit. Their cafe serves their great coffee alongside a great breakfast/lunch menu and does it spectacularly.

Great place to go for a lighter afternoon coffee.. as they aren't as strong, when compared to Mojo or Supreme.
C.

D.
Had to be one of the best Coffees I have tasted in New Zealand! I tried the Helena blend and it was perfect. Left a great aftertaste in my mouth!
T.
Flight Hangar was my favourite coffee spot in Wellington when I lived there. After visiting Wellington for a weekend and dropping by - nothing has changed. Still my favourite coffee spot . . . maybe in New Zealand?
D.
Great coffee - it's their specialty! Food service can be a little slow but that could be due to new staff and they can be busy.
C.
Coffee taste menu is the best!!!!!
R.
Just yes. Great service, food, vibe. And serious coffee. Barista = dedicated craftsperson of the highest order
C.
I stopped for a snack and had a delicious apple, feijoa and pear juice! The ambiance is really nice. Will come back for breakfast another day.

T.
Great coffee and good food selection. Another one of the top coffee options in Wellington - Flight Coffee's flagship.
A.
Food and coffee is nice enough, but some of the staff are a bit conceited and pretentious - especially if you're not a coffee purist short black drinker.
A.
The tastiest variation on eggs benny I've ever had. Rest of the menu is also filled with a truly tasty line-up.
