G.J's Cafe in Westport, NZ is awesome for breakfast, lunch, a snack, coffee etc.
Open from 7.30 am until 4pm.
Went there again this morning at 8am for breakfast, before coming back home to Christchurch and that man there is so helpful, even with me wanting just part of the big breakfast, bacon and tomatoes on toasted bread. So accommodating for my small appetite, so early in the morning.
My granddaughter went to Westport in March with me and after eating at a lot of cafes in Westport over the years, I have decided this is the cafe I will continue to eat at. Give it a try people.

S.It was such a cold day today, and after a tough week, I decided it was time for my regular comfort treat. I thought I'd ask the staff if I could order a takeaway to take home and reheat. Sitting outside at a table in the cold wasn't a pleasant option. The lady on the counter said I could have a takeaway but why, when I could sit inside with my canine baby. I was surprised and delighted with the offer, but concerned I would be abused (as I had been by a man a few weeks ago for taking Zahra inside to place my order) he said some really disgusting things to me which the staff heard. She assured me I wouldn't be abused and explained that another lady brought her dog into their cafe as well. We sat in a booth and here are the images...For those who might complain I don't mind admitting that Zahra is probably cleaner than I am, and I am not dirty. I can't speak more highly of the staff who have always been so kind, caring, and welcoming, in a town that is not always so friendly.

T.First coffee back in level 2. Was worth the wait. Great scones, lovely staff. Was going to return for lunch but the trip to Karamea took longer than anticipated. Breakfast on the menu today 😋

P.Visited J's today for a coffee while the rain decided to dump down on Westport. The coffee was great. The cherry and almond slice was to die for! The toughest thing today was devoting what to order as the cabinet was packed with so many options I wanted to try them all. The service was brilliant with a super friendly waitress who was also quick to serve. I lived the feel of the little cafe with large art pieces all around. The menu looked good but alas that must be for another time. Can't wait to come back and try more.

P.We went there for lunch and tried four different dishes. Given the public rating we had some expectations but they were probably too high - and that was maybe not their best day there.
Waiting time was unexpectedly high (little crowdy). Food was correct for most of it but the fish of the day was too much cooked and didn't taste like it was fresh of the day (and was breaded/fried - that we didn't expect at all). The creamy seafood chowder was OK but the (2) mussels in it were very chewy, like the shrimps.
Otherwise, people were nice!

T.(Translated) A very stylishly furnished café in whose ambience a good cappuccino tastes even better. The burger with fries and the piece of cake tasted very good and clearly saturated.
Most of the seating is cushioned benches on the walls, which I personally find very convenient. The prices are the usual means and the staff were feuendlich.
The entrance is also barrier-free and equipped with an automatic sliding door.

Ein sehr stilvoll eingerichtetes Café in dessen Ambiente ein guter Cappucino noch besser schmeckt. Der Burger mit Pommes sowie das Stück Kuchen haben sehr gut geschmeckt und deutlich gesättigt.
Die meisten Sitzgelegenheiten sind gepolsterte Bänke an den Wänden, was ich persönlich sehr bequem finde. Die Preise sind das übliche Mittel und die Mitarbeiterinnen waren feuendlich.
Der Eingang ist zudem barrierefrei und mit einer automatischen Schiebetür versehen.
