LOVEd it!!! All three dishes were delicious! Mince on toast with a poached egg "they must have my recipe from home"; seafood chowder "best outside of homemade"; chicken and mushroom fettuccine - was hardly any fettuccine!!! Smiles all around. Price wise very worthwhile. Really good sized portions, could easily share between two. No coffee for my crew BUT my fussy Auckland aunty likes it. The cabinet food all looked amazing too!!! We enjoyed the pineapple and coconut slice... was yummy as!!! Lovely service. Only thing was, my Uncle couldn't read the blackboard up the back without his glasses, a light on it be good.

Has a Vegan menu which is great (but no prices on it so you might get a surprise when paying). I had mushrooms on ciabatta and my wife had roasted veg salad. We shared a raw snickers slice. Food tasted great!

Absolutely delicious, we had the Pesto Stack and Egg Bene with Bacon Long blacks each day were smooth, velvety and sweet. Highly recommend Cafe 4u

Super friendly staff, the food was very unique and delicious. Loved the Moroccan chicken. They even offered us extra fries because the chef thought we didnt have enough. Would highly recommend coming to this place.

Went here once and came back every other day during our holiday. What a friendly atmosphere, cool people, great food, and yum, their thick shakes are marvelous.

What a fantastic little gem in the heart of Whakatane! We came here for morning tea, there were so many options it was hard to choose. Half pint ordered a custard berry slice and hot chocolate both were great and were given 5/5. Hubby ordered two things since he couldn’t decide and due to their size couldn’t finish them. He got a date scone and a slice with white chocolate cranberries. For me it was as always a sausage roll. Which was huge and devine. It was so good ended up sharing with half pint. The coffees were also great we finished them easily.

Food was ok. My roast vege salad had some sort of mayo squirted on it after plating that it didn't need and I didnt want. Bit noisey out front but has some quiet seating in the courtyard.

Fantastic breakfast and lunch cafe. Food options are diverse and delicious. There is a secluded, peaceful sitting area out the back, nicely framed with rock cliffs and Pohutukawa

In all the years ive been rating cafes across the US, UK, Germany and oz/nz, I’ve dished out maybe 6 5-stars. ‘Nuff said. Service, vibe, quality of coffee, food flavour - as WELL as - looks and presentation. It’s all spot on!!! The cooked brekkiea look really good too! (NB - a “large latte” is served in an 8oz cup, but they will do a 12~13 oz if you ask specifically for it. )

Was only in town for a day but so glad I stopped here for breakfast. Service was fantastic and the coffee and food were delicious. Highly recommend this place.

Don’t be put off by the cringey name - this place is exceptional. Walk straight through to the cabinet at the rear counter to see what’s on offer - so many choices and they all look amazing. Very hard to choose. A separate board lists the vegan options (as well as dishes that can be modified for vegans). Order and pay, then take a seat inside or out, and enjoy the lush decor while you wait. My coffee was perfect and I enjoyed my Pesto Pileup (vegetarian breakfast style dish built around a generous hash brown). If I’m ever back in Whakatane, this is where I’ll be hanging out.

Second time back here for lunch and the food was just as amazing as the first time. A wonderful selection of healthy delicious food ... I wanted to eat it all! The coffee is brilliant.. Best ever! And the staff friendly and welcoming! Thanks guys, you're doing an awesome job ... we love coming to visit.

The coffee was amazing here, the service was friendly but the food took awhile to come out mind you we were the biggest table there. Food was delicious I ordered the Cafe 4U breakfast, the atmosphere really buzzing with plenty of customers coming & going.

The service is very quick, the coffee was the most delish coffee anywhere and the food presentation and taste...wow, experience it for yourself

Sensational food!!!! Go hungry and make the most of it! The sausage roll is to die for and their sweets are out of this world! Coffee is ok (hence 4 ⭐ not 5) but I go for the yummy food! Staff are friendly & happy, premises is clean & beautifully decorated ❤

Excellent customer services. Great spot that i never knew existed in Whakatane. So glad i found it and will definitely be back. My Mum L.O.V.E.D her Soy Chai Latté and thats not easy to please her lol. The food was bang on x Highly recommend x

My most favourite cafe in Whakatane hands down!! Love the indoor setting an decor and the outside courtyard is spacious with a comfy feel, unlike most cafes in Whakatane whose courtyards can feel quite claustrophobic an small. Amazing cabinet food, cakes an slices and the food is just to die for! Very friendly and helpful owners aswell. Will always come back to this cafe!! Highly recommend 😊

I was looking for a cafe that served vegan food and came across Cafe 4U. There was a separate vegan menu to make seeing the choices easy and was great to have a choice of several menu items. Highly recommend. The service was super friendly and helpful too.

Great service, excellent coffee and good food selection in the cabinet. It’s a cosy environment inside too and very comfortable.

Stopped for breakfast and had fabulous food and coffee. My omelette was light and fluffy with heaps of fillings. The boys breakfasts were excellent. The homemade mince was really delicious. Poached eggs were perfect. Great service and Devine counter food. Highly recommended. A kiwi cafe at it’s best.

It is always difficult to find a nice cafe, when you dont know an area. However, I was disappointed. The food is of a very high quality and presentation was perfect. The coffee too is lovely and I'd certainly come back when I'm in town again.

Went there twice because it was so good the first time, we had to go back. Staff very nice and friendly and food fresh and tasty. Coffee - great, Eggs Benny - wow, Pulled pork Sliders - ooh yeh, clam chowder - yum, Blueberry Cheesecake - absolutely awesome!

My new favourite cafe!!! Everything cooked so deliciously perfect and don't even need to wait long. If anyone wants to try it but you don't have anyone to go with I will happily tag along 😁

Their Gluten Free options are awesome. The bread is delicious and really makes the meal perfect. Staff are all so friendly and cheerful. It's a smaller cafe than most but plenty of seating inside and out. Reasonably priced meals too!

This is one of the best cafes I have been to in the Bay of Plenty area. The cakes and cabinet food are brilliant. The last time I visited, I tried the lemon and plum cake which was divine. Lovely spot. Friendly service too.

Next level!!! Watching the staff move is like witnessing a well oiled machine execute its purpose! The food is nothing shy of superb. Busy... Like a cafe of this caliber should be is a direct reflection of amazingly presented and tasting food. Do your taste buds a favour and eat here.

went here for breakfast on a saturday, it was quite busy but the wait time was short for our food. I ordered the vegan mushroom ciabatta stack and it was delicious! my boyf. ordered the eggs bene with bacon and he loved it, he said it was the best breakfast / egg benedict he's had from a cafe! definitely reccomend this place ☺️

I have had only fantastic experiences here. Awesome food menu and stunning cabinet options. Really friendly staff as well. As far as I can tell it has the only vegan menu in Whakatāne and that is greatly appreciated.

I love love love the chicken curry. Came in today to have it. Yummy as usual but I will be asking for the rice in a separate dish on the side or put onto the side of the bowl before puttering in the corry as what happens when u eat it is the rice collapses into the curry while yr eating it so u end up with rice sludge and no curry sauce. Not a criticism just my preference. Will be back when I can as I live n work in Kawerau. 😁

I've been living in the BoP for four years and go into Whakatane every 2 months or so. I am there for the day and have always lamented the lack of a great lunch place. Well I must have been looking with my eyes shut (a boy's look) cos a friend took me here. What a revelation. So thrilled to have found this great place.

Really good coffee (I had a long black) and amazing breakfast. Bagel bread, pesto sauce, egg, mushroom, spinach.. so good. Nice service too. And I really like the decor and atmosphere ! Cosy !

Ordered the 'chicken bomb' with a iced chocolate. Awesome customer service skills, staff are lovely. The space is so inviting and the outside area is perfect during the warmer months. Great experience and the food is to die for!!

Omg food was awesome we had the pesto home made hash stack and French toast ( both vegetarian) and the coffee just as good. We are addicted to cafes and absolutley will be going back next time we are visiting

This place was sooo good! Our food was exceptional, and so were our iced drinks. It had a nice vibe to it too and we would happily go back next time we’re in town. Lots of options to choose from on the menu too!
