Absolutely awesome experience. Amazing food and amazing service!!! The lady (I'm assuming the manager) was very accommodating and the waitresses were lovely and fast to clear our table. Been in Whangamata a few days and this is the only cafe/restaurant my family would 100% go back to. ❤️ Keep up the great work Smash Pipi! *Edit* Went back for breakfast and yet again, service and food amazing! 👍❤️

Best Calamari/Prawn/Scallop Salad ever! The double beef burger was also a hit, as were the take home hot chocolate jars! Service was impeccable and the owners are wonderful! Kids are happy and already asking to come back. Thank you guys for making our first time experience epic! 😊❤️

Just been to Smash Pipi and it was delicious (as always!) The staff are friendly and Petra and Mike always go out of their way to say hi. Hubby had the beef burger which was huge and very yummy! I had the scallop, prawn and calamari salad and the kids all had chicken nuggets and chips and everyone loved their meals. Everyone is looking forward to heading back tomorrow 😁

Family run restaurant, founded in 2016, pretty new. Awesome ribs, kids menu affordable and well presented and the seafood food was incredible delicious. I was cold because I swan a bit before going to this place and after the soup, I felt comforting and back to normal. Clean and well maintained establishment, in the middle of the Main Street, great food, great staff. Will be back anytime soon! Thanks!

The chicken roti was amazing! Chicken was crunchy n still moist, roti devine n not drowned in sauce, sauce was yumo! Definitely recommend this, compliments to the chef! 👍

My partner and I came here for a late brunch and managed to order from the brunch menu at 11am (finishes at 11:30) got a coffee each and both were perfect. My Mediterranean eggs were perfection. Only criticism was the hollandaise, just tasted like mayo, needed lemon juice!

There was a huge wait to place our order at the front for our food, still unsure what took them so long to get through the line. Fiod came at a reasonable time even though they were busy. The eggs Benedict were cooked perfectly with a creamy hollandaise sauce and a huge portion of bacon, the burgers are big (but an excessive amount of lettuce). Great coffee which came out quickly.

Cafe was busy on a holiday weekend Sunday morning. Coconut latte was lovely and the chai latte smelt and tasted great. The topping on the coconut latte was the only down side, a very bitter taste. But after that was mixed in, it was no longer an issue.

If you're a guy looking for that perfectly satisfying burger, taste, size, freshness. The double beef burger here is the burger you've been longing for. Better than a lot of the Wellington on a Plate burgers IMO

Recommended to us by Whanga. Locals. Great coffee , good menu and service. We both had mince on ciabatta toast with a poached egg on top , bloody brilliant ! again a local recommendation and spot on for a substantial lunch before the drive home to Auckland. Only one criticism : ditch the artificial plants / greenery , go real or don't do it at all. Well done Smashed Pipj

I always have a great experience here. Everything comes with a little extra. The hot chocolates come with chocolate spoons (not just for kids!) coffees are high quality, meals are fresh and substantial but still elegant, the prices suit and the loaded wedges are truely LOADED! Staff are friendly obliging and efficient. The atmosphere is relaxed and beachy, and the chairs even have inspiring or funny sayings written on them just to add to the classic kiwi character. Smash Pipi is perfect for a family lunch, catch up with a friend or time out on your own with a good book! For something with a little extra make sure you drop into Smash Pipi next time you're passing through Whangamata 🏄‍♀️😍

Food was ok, a little pricey for what we got. The food didn't come to our table at the same time and it's not like we ordered a lot, just 2 breakfast and fries. The staff were mostly good. I thought it was a little cheeky charging an extra dollar for sauce to go with fries. I have had the slices before and they were nice. Best thing is it is the most spacious cafe in Whangamata so you don't feel crowded.

I either like or dislike, i like the place, tidy and vibrant, the service was quick and good. But foodwise, we ordered pasta , beef tacos and fish and chips, the only flavoursome was the fish and chips, tacos and pasta need some more flavour, but they are quite generous on chips though, which i like. I rate 4 but i meant 3.5 as split review.

This is a quality place to eat and relax. The owner was very accommodating with a great sense of humour, the food top notch especially the Calamari Salad. Staff were friendly and we will be coming back here tomorrow because Smashed Pipe is reasonably priced as well.

Smash Pipi was a really nice surprise for two people travelling up to Coromandel. The food was really tasty, the menu was quite extensive and there were free bottles of (tap) water. The outside seating was glorious and inside there funny little quotes on the tables. The staff were very friendly. I'd definitely recommend a stop at this Cafe.

When staying in Whangamata with my daughter, my husband and I tried many cafes - smashed Pipi being one of them. We were undecided on what to order so asked the lady behind the counter for her recommendation. She said the lasagne special was “delicious”, which we then ordered, and by golly she not wrong. It was a fantastic meal and I couldn’t help thanking the lovely girl that suggested it. A very generous serving too, might I add. Afterwards, we decided to sneak a treat to take with us and they were just as delightful. Great cafe, great service, even greater food.
