S. Y.I had the chicken salad which was delicious & a good portion size. My hot chocolate with marshmallows was so yummy and perfect on a cold, rainy day. ☕✨I loved everything I ordered! Thank you so much ☺️
My husband ordered the Eggs Benedict, he enjoyed it too but thought the portion size was small. It needed an extra piece of bread.
Overall a great place to have lunch in a handy location.
K. T.Lovely staff, quick service and delicious food and drinks. Their coffee is great and so is their strawberry matcha. Early bird brekkie for $14.90 is an absolute deal and the kids buttermilk pancakes are crazy good

K. H.Thank you Brian and the L-G staff! I had my 60th birthday there with a table of 16 girlfriends. We had almost like a private room. It is a pretty place. The food was fresh and delicious - they have their own chef. Plenty of gluten free choice. A very special occasion made extra special by the venue and the food.
N. B.What an amazing experience. My elderly father has Parkinson’s and we had a small dog with us that we could not leave in the car. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us, setting up a table outside with a sun umbrella, providing water and all round excellent service. The food and coffee were first class and the patrons too were very friendly. Thank you L-G Cafe!

Easy car parking outside and they have really good outside seating.

A. W.Recommended by Mum. She's been cooking for 90 years, and she loves the place. Mum had steak and kidney pie; I had the superb Club Sandwich. Great coffee. The staff are super friendly and attentive. Serves beer and wine. This is understandably a popular café with a sunny location and deserves the many 5-star ratings it has received. A gem for breakfast and lunch on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula!!
P. S.A lovely dining experience here for breakfast with my parents. The hosts were friendly, attentive and very caring. The coffee was so perfect I had to have two! Thank you for having us x

L. R. R.Great service delicious healthy 😋 food. Ambient atmosphere. Friendly staff. Beware of the fact although they say they are open till 3 for some strange reason they send their chefs home at 2pm. But don't expect much after lunch but coffees & cakes if you enjoy that fine.

Z. S.For the last year or so we are there for lunch about every fortnight. Food is great and what makes it even better is when the owner remembers you don't want carbs and he suggests substitute it with mushrooms or something else.
Great atmosphere and service makes this cafe good place for a meal.
b.My son and I used to visit every Sunday when Lorna and Gary had this restaurant so were naturally saddened to see them go, and to find out - at that time - that the new owners were closed at the weekend.
We were pleased to find they were now open and gave it a whirl: I always have Eggs Benedict (and you wouldn't believe the amount of places that can't seem to get the eggs right....), and they were perfect. Solid whites, runny yolks. I WOULD have liked to see that they were free range though.
My son had The big Breakfast which really WAS a big breakfast - just think of everything you can, then add some!
The new owners were delightful, didn't over hover (nothing worse) and were very friendly. Everything clean and water provided without asking.
There was the occasional middle eastern touch which was interesting and very welcome. Highly recommend.

The environment is clean decorated with mood lighting and plant life creating a fresh scene.
The service is speedy and the quality of goods are fantastic. The mocha specifically included dairy free chocolate and clearly delicious tasting beans.
The parking was accessible to the shop and wheelchair friendly. The chips were well fried and seasoned perfectly. I enjoyed the company of the staff who were amiable and helpful. I would recommend this to everyone I know and will definitely be visiting again. A+++

T. S.Fantastic coffee, amazing service and food that is baked fresh on site. One of my favorite cafes on the coast. The counter food selection has so much to choose from, sweet and savoury. The ham and cheese brioche scrolls are divine and one of my faves. Their breakfast bap looked amazing and is on my eye next time!
T. S. E.Beautiful food, I understand not having menus due to covid, but only one by the till isn't the best idea. If possible, written on the wall blackboards so you can read it there, so not to feel you have to rush because of the people behind you. Also staff could be more friendly.

B. S.Sorry, but my food experiences at L & G's haven't always been great. I had a stuffed kumera which was definitely unpleasant. Other times too, I've been disappointed. I only go there because it's convenient. Also, to be fair, sometimes the food is good and I would highly recommend the muffins

H. G.Had a Coffee Group meeting here with 6 other grans. They have different sized tables which is great..a couple outside as well. Seems to be a popular spot of the older generation as this day they were the lions share of the customers. Food is delicious, coffee is great, the servers are lovely and good at their jobs, service was good but they were very busy, could almost do with another person there, my only criticism is after we had more people arrive, we weren't offered any more water / glasses, or asked about orders - not sure if this is their way or if they were busy everywhere else, so ordering at the counter-only was our experience. Is very loud inside so we moved to the large outside table after a while. We asked for the umbrellas up but it was too windy apparently and they would have blown away - however on leaving the next group had them up fine.. perhaps we needed to erect those ourselves. Just x2 toilets x1 being the disabled one - watch the lock on this one, the lady explained it can look locked and occupied when it's in fact empty, which we found to be the case, after waiting several minutes. Overall a lovely spot, very central and we'll visit again (using the outside table lol).

The food is generic chain menu items. The coffee is average but not offensive.
Would live to see a more dynamic menu with rotating specials and local specialities.

S.Wow! Where do I start? Heaps of parking, check. Beautiful, artistic, clean and spacious location, check. Amazing, friendly and attentive service, check. A wide range of delectable things to eat, not just cabinet snacks but a whole kitchen that serves all day breakfast (with decent portions!!), CHECK! Delicious coffee to sit down inside OR outside in the sun, CHECK! What more can you ask for...?

L. M.L&G's is a spot I always enjoy. Great food, largely made on the premises. My favourite thing with coffee is the pumkin, date, ginger, sunflower muffin. Suprisingly light for a muffin containing pumpkin and a nice hit of ginger.

It can be noisy and is mostly busy.
