Good coffee , spoiled by the fact the tables were not wiped down after clearing , while I was there, and the person taking orders was not wearing the mask correctly, so the nose was visible and some times it slipped down a bit further.

Staff were lovely, service was fast even though they were packed and the food was incredible, cannot fault a single thing. Best iced chocolate I've had in ages and the hash-stack was delicious. Will definitely be back when next in Whangarei.

Wonderful place. Great ambience. The staff is very welcoming and courteous. I asked them if they had wifi. They gave me a code to login with. However it was not working. The staff ensured that they rectify the problem and I get wifi. Great customer service. Their food is simply delicious. Clean bathrooms.

One of the best cafe in Town Basin, Whangarei. We visited at 1:30pm Friday for lunch and its busy busy. Like the manu, heaps to choose from. We have soup of the day(carrot soup), scotch fillet burgers, waffle and mashed avocado. Love it.

Nice busy place. Friendly, fast and efficient service. We took seat at a table which just had been vacated. Within a couple of minutes staff came and cleared and wiped the table. Nice coffee. Good prices. We had breakfast type meals just around lunch time. Very happy!!!

Nice cafe on the quay. Big seating area and extensive menu. Prices reflect the location (paying for the views) but food was decent. Flat white and banana milkshake were great. Banoffee tart was nice but not enough banana for my partner’s liking. Walnut coffee cake was flavorful but a little dry, flat white was perfect to help wash it down. Nice gallery attached, clean toilets and free wifi. Overall it’s a solid 4star establishment.

The best cafe on the Town Basin in my opinion. Food is perfect every time and the service is always great. On weekends be prepared for a bit of a queue at peak times (eg. lunchtime) as they are that popular it doesn't take long for the cafe to fill up. However once you order they are usually very quick with your meal so worth lining up for. Highly recommend!

Was the first place we visited and the food and service was soo great we haven't bothered going anywhere else to eat at the basin. They are kid friendly with toys and a kind smile, you can tweak meals to suit, food and coffee are excellent consistently (I have almost tried everything on the menu). Heaters for when it gets cold, plenty out door area. Only down side (but not worth losing a star) is it can get very noisy. Mostly because it is popular! Highly recommend.

Really good service. We waited about 5 minutes for our food. The food is amazing and was beautifully cooked. There was a hair inside my partners creamy mushroom but when I took the hair up they straight away replaced the whole meal quickly and it was cooked even better then before. Quite happy :)

Looks like I had a very different experience at Mokaba Cafe regarding most people gave it high marks. I went to Mokaba Cafe for lunch. I had half Paleo Breakfast and my friend had a chowder. My food was very average, under seasoned and overpriced for what you get. All things on my plate were cooked and just placed there - there was no kind of sauce or anything to combine it all in one meal. In fact, the tastiest thing on my plate was toast with butter (for which I paid extra). The nicest thing about this cafe is location. Will not come back.

Perfect timing organising a team lunch whilst they were very busy. Polite, helpful staff and very delicious food. My team and I had a wonderful experience. We reserved a table for eight in advanced and sent our orders to the restaurant before our arrival by email, as soon as we sat down we were served! It really helped as we only had a short lunch break between meetings. The food too was delicious and even decorated beautifully with flowers. I would eat there again. :)

We walked up and down looking for a place to eat. Finally srumbling upon Mokaba although being a sunny day alot of people dined outside it left a big empty inside which is just what we needed. Came here for lunch with some friends. It was super busy but the staff were all cool and collected. The man at the counter who took our order was absolutely lovely, super cheerful and helpful. The food was delicious as well, and despite how busy it was it came out quickly too. I would definitely recommend coming here for a bite to eat after walking the Loop!

However although still quite early they were closing due to low foot traffic which was most unexpected. We took takeaway coffees but no food. The coffee was also a little insipid. Always fantastic at this cafe. There is an excellent selection from a breakfast menu, lunch menu (starting at 11am) and cabinet food. I choose the creamy mushrooms, or savoury bacon scone. Coffee lovers will not be disappointed. Indoor and covered outdoor seating. A great place to take older family members, and is also child friendly.

Nice location. Was busy & had to wait a bit too long to order. Unfortunately a staff member dropped my choice of lunch on the ground but I was politely apologised to & I selected another dish at no expense. This duly came but my partner's didn't. Had to chase up staff for other meal. More apologise as they were down to one fat fryer. The meals were tasty once we got them. Could do better with coffee. Nice to be able to have my little dog in the outside area. Would try again.

Normally 5 star, but the last two visits have been less. Small things like waiting on coffees that turned up after our meal and a hot breakfast that was anything but. Every other time they've been fantastic tho. Great coffee and delicious food. Definitely worth a look.

The location is excellent. The coffee is nice, but when looking at the price board the $4.30 for the cappuccino is a small cappuccino whereas the other drinks are medium drinks at $4.90 which is a bit confusing. Apparently not confusing to staff, but as a first time customers it was for us. Their table menu is clearer.
