A. E.We were looking for a good brunch spot for some French toast specifically. Their French toast is really great- fluffy and flavourful. There are also great vegetarian and keto options. The Belgian waffles are delightful- crisp and just the right amount of sweetness. The coffee is good, great lunch and breakfast options, and really friendly and accommodating service. I love all the windows in the back that look out over a little park. Great atmosphere, food, and service

Others may have better experience here.

P. K.I feel a bit mean giving the restaurant four stars but points had to come off. The food, service and atmosphere was really good. Professor McFussy got her fussy coffee and was happiness filled. Points came off as my long black lacked crema and was not quite up to scratch. It's got to be perfect for five stars. The professor selected pies for lunch and they had fantastic flavour and crust. They were the best pies we have had for some time. Overall an excellent experience. Well worth the visit.

Came here again (29/07/2017) and again the service let this place down. We ordered coffee in a group of four and everything came out in a strange order and some orders were forgotten about.

J. J.Lovely cafe with really lovely, friendly and diligent waiting staff. Pity I didn't take pics of our breakfast Sunday morning, but nonetheless, fantastic food! My partner ordered the egg & Salmon Benedict which was done to perfection. I felt like a toasted egg, bacon & mushroom sandwich, which wasn't on the menu. The waitress asked the chef if it could be done and there was no problem. It was absolutely beautiful. Pricing is also really good in comparison to other cafés. We will definitely return when I'm in Whangarei agin and recommend Nectar Café 100%! I'm from Auckland and wish we could get such lovely service down here. Cannot speak highly enough of your lovely staff ☺️

Half the things on the menu were not available due to no supplies, but these items are readily available at Pak n Sav or New world in very close proximity. Food was disappointing with complimentary hair! New owners need to listen to the lady on the front counter and step up their game. Not the standard we are used to at Nectar.

M. B.We had efficient service (Sunday lunchtime visit) with nice hot drinks. They have a fire! That said the decor needs a major overhaul. It's dated and dark and brings the place down. It could be very cool given the space itself is amazing ...big windows etc. At the very least change out the tired artwork and sad plants. With some work this could be one of the best places in town.

We really enjoyed the relaxed and welcoming vibe. Our booth seating, overlooking parkland, was cosy and warm on the winter day we visited.
C. S.I liked my eggs bene but feel the staff need better training. The table I sat at (in a near empty restaurant)had been cleared but not wiped down. My order came out then my friend had to wait a further 10 mins for hers.

The young blok at the counter is just made for hospitality. Bright. Cheerful. Bubbly. And perceptive. Will definitely come back.

Every chefs worst nightmare haha anyway I ordered a soy mocha and it was one of the best coffee's I have had in ages!!!! I asked them if they could make the mushrooms on toast vegan and they did. G. W.Dropped in for a coffee early Wednesday morning, hoping they had the fire going. They did! The barista was great, the service was great and three sources of heat; coffee, the woodburner and the sun coming up over Parahaki. Muffins, almond croissants or a full hot breakfast available as they open at 7.
Coffee (delicious) is from Cafe L'Affare and they have an A hygiene rating from the council
M. A.To be honest I was very tempted to go somewhere else. Straight of the bat, the staff lacked an inviting atmosphere, perhaps because my partner and I are young, appearing both rude and uninviting. I felt like it created a negative atmosphere, however, this can easily be improved if they are willing to put the effort in. The food was tasty and the portions were well worth the price. Overall an average experience which could have been much better.

J. C.Today, 16th December, I went to lunch at Nectar. I was warmly welcomed and what I first wanted was not available, the attendant said it could be made by Sam their chef. Instead, rather than increase his busy work load, I was then attracted to an egg and bacon quiche and was not disappointed. Indeed, the topping attracted me; the interior was soft and pleasant to the palate, with well spread ingredients. If there was one tiny flaw to be reported, it could be that the egg needed 10 seconds less cooking! When a prepared quiche is reheated for serving, it can dry a little. The cappuccino was perfect, served graciously. I shall be recommending the cafe and chef to all friends in the city and visitors too. JC

N. H. (.Daughter's shout for father's day. Pleasing entrance, and table settings with a bit of atmosphere. Had open sandwich with salad and lamb. Plum flavoured something helped the salad leaves. Left the bread this not being conducive to healthy living.

Enjoyable enough, but would rate only fair to good for the money. Of course daughter's company made the occasion. Chose the "good" option. More furnishings might help the noise which is a problem at many of these places.

D. S.I went there for lunch recently but there was no lunch menu! They have an all day menu but there is very little of what you would expect on a lunch menu. It's mostly egg-based meals. It was ok but not the kind of food I wanted or expected. Perhaps tellingly, much quieter than it used to be.
