H.Partner said surprise him so I ordered us a lovely chicken quinoa salad...And we loved it. Charlie loved people watching. He loved being here with plenty of room to stretch out and not be in the way of anyone. Good coffee too ☕🥗🐶🐕🦺
R.The chicken salad was not bad but the garlic bread was meh. Service is non-existent as everything is self service. Waitress won't acknowledge you.

M.Was a perfect stop during our road trip. Food was served quickly and was just what we needed. Lovely area by the river to walk around with a cool playground for the kids to burn off some energy. Would stop again.
I.Very sweet server lady. She was flexible and very positive about our order. Food was quite nice and of good quality- pricing not too bad at all. Close to the river front and parks, but also near city central. If you’re passing through Whangarei I would recommend for a bite to eat. Interior could be refreshed a bit however.
M.A nice selection of both menu and cabinet food. Right in the town basin next to the hundertwasser Art centre. Staff are pleasant and service was quick.
H.Food was Great, Iced coffee tasted like they put a bad shot in it though, even my friend agreed when he gave it a try saying it tastes bad, It was tolerable but definitely screwed my face up each sip, hopefully was a one time thing and next one will be good!

S.Have been here a couple of times in the last month. Once just for coffee the second time also included lunch. The food was reasonably priced and satisfying with the staff friendly and location also pleasant on a sunny day outside in the shade. Nothing to fault and actually would love to visit more often when in town.

B.A very busy location in the basin area. A very large menu and very busy. Food took only 15 mins and was fresh and very tasty. Staff kept the place incredibly clean and vacated tables were cleaned down quickly and effectively. Worth a visit and take a walk along the river and visit the many art places.

M.Was quite busy when me and my partner went, staff were lovely and patient with us and other patrons. We ordered the Full Kiwi Breakfast and drinks each and within 5 minutes we had our food! Food portions were awesome for the price and coffee was great too! I never write reviews but this cafe deserved it, Well done!

D.Excellent service. Other cafes kitchens were closed but Riverside were still able to do Eggs Bene (if we'd wanted more cooked we might not have been so fortunate?). Wonderful sitting in the mid afternoon sun looking at the tranquillity of the yacht harbour with a light meal and a large coffee.
B.The supervisor on the counter was excellent. He greeted us nicely. The other staff were very pleasant. The New York Cheesecake was delicious, but the coffee was so average. There wasn't any toilet paper. The one staff who brought the coffee over, put the coffees down without a word and quickly walked away. She wasn't busy, it was dead in there. I don't get it. The place is looking outdated, too. Good location though ☺️

I had the falafel salad.give it 10 plus. So fresh and delicious. Hubby had fish and said same. Was 1st June.. warm and sunny to sit outside and the Marina is a nice spot to be.

T.Staff very friendly. Food really tasty and arrived promptly, decent range of drinks. We had salt & pepper squid with salad and chocolate chip cheesecake to share. Squid was crispy, salad and dressing lovely. Cheesecake was divine.

C.The highlight of Riverside Cafe is the outdoor seating area which is peaceful and bordered by trees and the water. The food and coffee is ok but not great: bread from a packet of sliced, hash browns like you’d find in the freezer aisle. Service just ok.
A.A neat place with great food and atmosphere. My only complaint is that we didn't get the eat there as much as we wanted because it was often packed during peak ours. (This was a couple of years ago when I was there) I hope to return someday and highly recommend you stop by and give them a try.

K.Great food and I would rate 5, but someone suddenly during our meal decided to vacuum space around. Haven't finished my food and could feel the vacuum dust in the air. Not a pleasant experience. And it wasn't just before close - as they close at five and someone started vacuuming at 3:45.
I don't blame staff for that, but a manager of the place for distributing responsibilities in such a silly way. As some stuff is finishing probably at 4 - he's asking them to do that before 4. You don't vacuum during opening hours with guests inside.
C.While waiting for my car service went to this cafe for coffee and something to eat. Staff were lovely and friendly and one staff member looked after my dog so i could go inside and order. Was lovely to sit in the shade and there was even a waterbowl for my doggo. Awesome guys well done will def be back
M.Nice cafe. Enjoyed the coffee, food and Gluten Free selection. Had a separate gluten free menu and staff were knowledgeable of gluten free eating procedures.

N.Staff very helpful with seating during a busy holiday lunchtime. Food service was fast, coffee slow but tasty. Good range of GF sweets. Everything was delicious.

It was very cold, so thought inside would be warmer, especially with the open fire.
The fire was not lit. The cafe was freezing cold and the staff when asked about the cold just shrugged and said they are used to it.
Rather strange answer I thought. It was actually warmer in the plastic pavilion than inside.
The coffee and food were fine. All delivered in a hot and timely manner.
P.Really good food. Usual super quick service and friendly staff. We drop by every time we head north. Always look forward to this stopover.

J.Came in yesterday morning with my mum, we both had salmon eggs bene and a hot chocolate each. It would have been excellent but both our eggs were hard, like we had boiled eggs not poached. Pretty dissapointing as this and the sauce makes the eggs bene. Besides the hard eggs, the portions were good, the sauce was very nice and so was the hot chocolate. The service was also excellent and atmosphere was clean, hence the 4 stars and not 3. Otherwise if the eggs were cooked properly it would have been the best out of the cafes on the waterfront.

R.We were there for lunch, on a rainy cold day in our way to Paihia. Inside was warm which was great for a wintery day. Good quality burgers and club sandwiches, in decent sizes. We really enjoyed our meals.

D.Really nice cafe on a great location. Big selection of cabinet food and a decent range on the cooked menu. Their cabinet food is fresh and very tasty and the cooked food is equally good. Their coffees are really well made. Their staff are friendly and very helpful. We actually had a terrible 2 yr old throw a tantrum, smash a glass and throw a biscuit on the ground. They insisted they clean up (kindly not letting us do it ourselves) and gave a free replacement biscuit. Pricing is a little on the high side, but worth it for the quality of the food, service and overall experience.

Only 1 looks legit (2/5) and he was a complaining about price - it's 2016 dude! The remainder are pushing out 1/5 ratings to all cafe's they visit. Not sure what is going on there!
Riverside is right next to the marina it's a great spot to have a cafe. Outdoor or indoor seating as well. Recommended.

M.my husband and I went there for lunch he wanted white bread sandwich which they did not do but decided on a muffin which was the best he had eaten and believe me he is quiet fussy I on the other hand had the best cream cheese and salmon bagel lots of lashing of cold smoked salmon the best I have had so far not to mention the friendly staff especially the manager who came and apologized for not having white bread we will definitely be back and the coffee was great.

V.I love this cafe by the river. Always restaurant looking food and it's delicious. I also buy coffee for takeaway daily there, glad they have loyalty cards, so once in a while I can enjoy free coffee ☕
Both indoor and outdoor seats are available. The toilet is clean which is always a good sign for any cafe.
