It may be off peak summer season but this cafe was still buzzing with business. Even if it was mainly the locals. Isn’t that just a good sign that it’s good cafe? Well I’d like to say it is and what a wonderful selection of food in the glass cabinet to choose for your enjoyment. It looked fresh and inviting and prepared fresh from the kitchen. Service was friendly and welcoming. They got us seated quickly and service was prompt. If your visiting Cathedral Cove or just passing by we do recommend this cafe for some scrumptious delights and a little time out.

Amazing cafe! They serve Coffee Supreme and the meals were so tasty. In these COVID times their service with a smile (yes through the mask) was impeccable. The waffles had a balanced flavour and sweetness. Cabinet food was memorable too. Eggs bene served on a potato rosti is a really good healthy option to reduce bread/gluten intake. Highly recommended!

Have to say, wasn't expecting such lovely place till wife took us here. Maybe the only cafe around here? Simple menu with the basic selections but so tasty! Well done to the chefs. Nice selections in the cabinet, that Pie! So good 😁 Superem coffee literally is the winning point, had two Lattes this morning lol. Sitting in the back yard and watching my kid running around in the playground is peaceful lol, nice n safe. Keep in mind, lots of birds around too, keep eyes on your food! lol Only one star down is the service, could be more approachable? Your friendliness costs nothing boys lol

Amazing food and coffee, has a great little cabinet selection. We enjoyed breakfast here the first time we came a second. Staff are friendly and food comes out quickly, our eggs Benedict was cooked perfectly and a nice amount of hollandaise on a herb rosti. Our daughter enjoyed her waffles and iced mochas. Coffee was hot and delicious. An enjoyable start to a day at the beach. Highly recommend 👌

Most amazing experience here today!! Such great service, fast and efficient delivery of food and drinks, at a top quality standard 😊 Would definitely recommend to anyone travelling in the Coromandel! The staff were amazing so incredibly friendly and happy to help in any way. The coffee was superb, food was insane and overall loved it! Such a great spot will be back again 😊❤️

Very welcoming and open cafe. Loved the world travel map on the wall. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Greatest with a smile. Had a variety of options from breakfast to sweets. We ordered and seated very quick. Both sandwiches toasted and presented very neatly on plate. Both were very delicious. Out came the meat platter and OMG it was very filling. We did manage to demolish the majority of it. You can see the pictures of what was on the platter. Well worth the stop and worth every cent. Will be visiting again when in the area.

Strolled into this, wee slice of delight yesterday and had to return to it today for Brunch and some take away lunch. Good coffee, great friendly service, dam good food, and I would say probally the best savory scone I've ever had. Highly rate this gorgeous little Cafe, excellent clean toy outdoor area, defintly, well worth visiting when here or near here.

Best muffin ever! So crunchy and moist. Coffee is nice enough and they charge the average price for good quality. The raspberry coconut slice was delightful. If you're around Hahei beach you should stop by!

My boyfriend and I came to the Coromandel on our annual leave, and happened upon this amazing cafe. Amazing cabinet display and selection, great menu, and really friendly staff. The service was perfect, and the indoor seating and decor was so nice. Loved the interactive world map! I got the GF eggs on toast, and YUM! Will 100% be back on our future holidays!

Great breakfast and lunch destination, and an easy walk from the camping ground or beach. Most impressively for me: They have a breakfast salad. No, wait. I mean it. These things are hard to find! Nowadays it's all "plant based breakfast bowls" or weird stuff like that, but this is a proper breakfast in salad form. Crispy bacon. A perfectly poached egg. Crunchy radish and dukkah. Fresh salady things. It's really good. Well, I liked it. The pancakes, muffins, and so on are really good, too. It's a good thing they're a really good cafe, too, as they're pretty much the only show in town. Get there outside peak times in summer or holidays if you want a table.

Nice cafe with good breakfast offerings. Lots of savory items in the fridge and fresh made pastries like a delicious spice cake this morning. Service is quick and friendly. Portions a decent size and albeit a little pricey. Seating inside and out with plenty of room. It was bustling the Sunday morning.

I do think the food & prices are awesome....was a little disappointed in the crab cake....it was delicious but I am not sure there was any crab in it ...it was mostly potatoes & spinach & crunchy onion which would have been nicer if it was precooked....staff are very friendly but at times a little egotistical & somewhat immature....I will be back but just won't have the crab cake....

A beautiful little cafe hidden up the hill just before you start your journey to Cathedral Cove. The breakfast platter takes around 25 mins to prepare but it is worth the wait! The owner said he enjoyed making the platter every time because it is a masterpiece.

Excellent place to grab a "Big Breakfast" and some great coffee before your adventures. The folks here are very helpful and friendly, and the food is delicious and reasonably priced as well. We sat out on the open-air patio and were visited by numerous song birds chirping away.

I don’t believe the reviews . I didn’t get friendly service . I didn’t get great food . I did get good coffee . Guy at counter not great . Saddened me to the point that the power went out ! Coincidence ? I think not 😉.

Normally a great place to have a bite and some coffee. Saddly we had one day where their machines went down and there kitchen staff were standing around like headless chickens. Took an hour and a half to get our order after complaining and informing them our order 4 times. Staff were nice enough to give us extra coffee while we waited. Turned from having breakfast to having lunch there. While normally a pleasant experience with lovely food and friendly staff. This one visit left a bad taste in our mouths.

A decent place to get some breakfast... It was super busy but the food cane faster than I expected. I got the eggs Benedict which was pretty good but the hollandaise was kind of thick and a bit different. Very nice staff.

Awesome range of beer - bottled, on tap, craft, and commercial brands. Fish and chips with macadamia nuts was quite good, and gluten free to boot.

Staff is so friendly and chirpy. When we went there, it was probably the rush hour. However, the food was soooooo delicious that iy was definitely worth a wait. Also, try their coffee, it is the best.

Staff are so lovely and welcoming. My soy latte was so delicious! Best banana bread I've had for a wee while. The only downside, which won't make my review lose a star, are the flies that hang around. I know this time of year means they are EVERYWHERE!

Coffee and a savoury scone yesterday morning. Both were excellent. Coffee was one of the best I have had in a while. Place packs out pretty quickly so you have to be early.

Had eggs Benedict for breakfast and was exceptionally well made. Eggs poached perfectly with smoked salmon and were put on beautifully herbed potato rostis followed by a good hollandaise sauce. I believe the owners are the same as the Church Street Bistro where we had an excellent dinner as well.

Great food and kind staff. Some staff were new and friendly. We got both waffles - with fruit and other with bacon and caramelised banana, so good! Waffles were light and fluffy, would go back for more!

If you stop at Hahei is definitely a place to stop for a good meal. The service is just as exceptional as the food. Fully Licensed place so you can have a nice cold corona on a hot summer day. A must stop!

Nice little place. Very busy and popular but they manage to have timely service. Food was good. The vegetarian breakfast can be done as vegan and gluten free which is avocado, tomato and a paste on gluten free bread. But they also brought out a side of butter which was strange given we asked for vegan.

Friendly staff and very welcoming atmosphere. Had the bacon and scrambled eggs on toast with a flat white coffee. Delicious! 🥓🍳☕️

Great little cafe in Hahei. The owner was super friendly - the food and coffee I had was great. Pricing is in line with other touristy places. Take note that they close for five weeks in the winter starting the third week of July.

We really enjoyed our breakfast. Great seating and food options. Everything came out quickly and at once. All the options we selected had perfect portion sizes.

Not going to lie, after 4 hours of hiking early in the morning it was awesome for my wife and I to come to Hahei Beach Cafe and fill up with "the big breakfast". Best coffee we had while on our trip of the North Island too. Everything was perfect. Thank you.

How hard is it to make Hot Chocolate They make Hot Tea , Hot Coffee alas no one can make a Hot Chocolate even though I asked and explained Extra Hot slightly warm if that. Husband had Poached Egg on toast with Bacon alas they wouldn't make me bacon and egg SANDWICH too hard sorry you are not getting my service again

We stopped at this busy cafe for lunch - egg and bacon pie and ham and cheese toastie - the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The coffee was nice too. This is a great option for lunch at Hahei Beach.

O yes, Justin sent me to post his review although I am the one writing... the REVIEW!! I have not had as much experience with REVIEWS and mint jelly as Phebe M-H so I hope I do not just "waffle" on..... .... now.... where was I? O yes, thats right, Justin loved his experience at Hahei Beach Cafe. The coffee was tremendous and various food choices were of a very high standard which satisfied his many cravings.... Please NOTE.. (No Mint Jelly was harmed in the writing of this review.)

Great place to relax after a morning of kayaking. Coffee was delicious, and there's a good variety of options in terms of food and treats. Staff were extremely friendly, and there is plenty of outdoor seating.

HBC was such a great little cafe in Hahei Beach. The owner Kyle was awesome and super friendly and his staff was too! The coffee was awesome and the food was fantastic. Such a friendly must go place when in Hahei!

Had the best vegan breakfast here! Tomato lentils, slow cooked thyme mushrooms, cherry tomatos, hash brown and wilted spinach w/ four grain vegan bread for a very fair $16. Do not pass this up. Meat eaters please try - it will leave you full but not feeling heavy and give you grapes of energy and bio-availible protein

3.5 Staff was friendly and our food was delicious. My husband had the chicken schnitzel and I had the pasta which was one of the best I've had. I recommend HBC.

Great Supreme coffee and friendly staff. They gave us great directions to park behind the cafe and walk up the hill as the carpark at the top is shut. Well worth the long walk. I recommend taking plenty of water.

My pastrami on rye was very tasty, and the boys enjoy a croque monsieur and bacon and egg pie, but my wife found the feta muffin to be very salty...

This was okay. We both had Turkish eggs which was tasty although the broth had made the bread very soggy. Coffee was fine.

Through our time in New Zealand we ate at a lot of cafes. A lot of them were pricey with mediocre food. This one is an anomaly. It is pricey as is everything in New Zealand, but the food was awesome.

The HBC is under new management, the menu has been refreshed and their barissa " Petra" makes amazing coffee's. Well worth the experience.

Take away coffee was a long wait although quite nice. Young lady that served us was quite unhelpful. Prime location, located 5 minutes walk to the beach.
