M.During our short stay in Whitianga I thankfully found the French Fig on day one and it became a daily ritual to return for coffee. Friendly staff deliver a delicious range of food, either from the cabinet or the kitchen. I’m partial to a date scone so their enormous offerings hit the spot (twice, as I had to consume it over two days). The lemon syrup cake is perfect to match a strong coffee. And the toasted sandwich had exactly the prerequisite amount of nice oozy cheese.
A.The best Smashed Avo I have ever had, it was like a rainbow of flavour in my mouth. And an incredible cold brew coffee to accompany! Will be back!
금.Typical french flavour. Descent and clean. Little pricy but it is okay price for tourist place. Dont recommend rocky Road. Pastry is better than cabinet.
m.Not from around the area but we would definitely come back! $10 for a small portion of egg on toast is amazing when you’re after a light snack and the foggy view in the morning is really enjoyable.
V.Great coffee, friendly staff and yummy food. The muffins are to die for but macadamia brioche is the next level. The portions are big and the presentation makes you more hungry. The fruit salad bowl with yogurt is so big and yummy.
Apart from good cafe, they have a sister concern looking after catering too. Not only it houses a little gift shop within. Very tastefully selected gift items, from food to cutlery to personal use. This fig has everything for you to shop under a roof. Don’t miss visiting while you are in Whitianga!
S.Very nice cafe. Wife had full breakfast and i had bacon and eggs as well as a date scone. Drinks were long black perfectly made and EB tea. Recommend this cafe. Indoor and outdoor seating available.
S.The food was very yummy and the coffee was good however, we were a bit confused when our eggs Benedict came out, on the menu it stated it was made with potato rosti however it came out on toast. This was rectified but it took a little while and seemed a little strange that this was the case when the menu had stated something different. Glad that is was rectified but just a little frustrating that it happened in the first place.
s.The coffee and food were great. However, the wait was insane for just cabinet food and coffee takeaway. I was watching the barista using a four spout machine and only making one coffee at a time. Additionally to this, it cost $68 for 3 muffins, two sandwiches and one coffee. Prices were not listed and the cabinet food wasn't labeled.
A.Very popular for a reason. Delightful cafe with many great tasty options. Our choice a seafood chowder which was delightful. Highly recommended, you will come back again.
J.Service was pretty poor, not acknowledged at any point and were awkward to speak to. Food was way overpriced for what you get, both in quality and portion size.
Had a feeling it was more of an attempt to squeeze every penny they could out of travellers than actually provide a good experience.

R.Good cafe in the heart of Whitianga. A bit pricey for the food quality, could be 10-15% cheaper but maybe it's because of holiday season. The hollandaise a bit too sour for my liking but that might be personal taste. In general not too bad.
A.Food was delicious, meals were huge and the service was great! The outdoor tables are a great place to sit in the sun and watch the world go by.

K.My wife ordered the creamy mushrooms, I had the eggs benedict with bacon. The potato rosti and bacon were delicious. The eggs were hard (no runny yolk). The hollandaise was nice and tangy. I also had a coconut milk latte, which was refreshing to see and was also delicious. The thing that let down the experience (apart from the hard eggs) was the general feeling of not being welcome in the establishment. Maybe the lady working front of house (I presume the owner) was having a bad day.

E.The French Fig was really busy during our lunch-time visit, with all the tables occupied the entire time, but the service was still fast with food arriving surprisingly quickly. Everything we had was outstanding. Really delicious and beautifully presented. That combined with the generous portions and reasonable prices made it obvious why this place is so popular.

s.Soup is appalling
Can’t even finish the mushroom soup because it’s over salted to an unhealthy level. Other than the salt it tastes just like marmite and bland. Only thing I liked was the bread.
Staff also aren’t very friendly either. Talk about people while working very unprofessional.
Not impressed for the price this soup is disgusting and inedible. The soup I got last time wasn’t the same but this time it’s almost like they did it on purpose.
Won’t be returning here it’s a shame.
J.Early morning tea - divine savory scone and delish hot chocolate. So accommodating as they gave me chutney to have with my scone instead of butter. No wonder we returned later in the day to nab some chocolate eclairs to have for supper. I really do insist you stop there to eat.

G.Wow what a fab Cafe...beautiful food and service. A must to visit with lots of extra goodies..e.g. chutneys, salts, seasonings, candles etc for sale. Coffee tasted delish but ask for extra hot because ours (3) were only Luke warm which was a shame

D.Our first time in Whitianga , we arrived hungry for breakfast we bumped into this place that exceeded our expectations. Beautiful and abundant all day menu, excellently cooked, perfect coffee and the staff friendly and bring a very good service. They also have a good range of home decoration, gifts and scarfs for sale. 100% recommended.

Prices however are very expensive.
Beware the food in the cabinet which is neither labeled nor priced - the fritata was average but cost $10 and the beef stock pot was $15 for mostly potato.
K.Really nice place but really, an iced chocolate without icecream when they have an ice cream cabinet here. I had to buy an ice cream and give it to them to make what I wanted. Corn fritters dry as a bone, obviously frozen. Couldn't eat them. Cakes delicious. Oh and not fridged milk in the iced chocolate which took the edge right of it. 4 out of 10 barely.
R.It's not five star but the rooms are large the bed is comfy and each unit has a very useable deck. We had six seated comfortably for drinks. Very helpful staff.
L.Don't want to be picky BUT, not a cheap place.$7 for one lemon muffin is a bit steep to me.Coffee was good but food prices were pretty high to me.It WAS a Sunday.Maybe we paid an added surcharge because of this.I didn't ask. Small cafe,bit squashed .Wouldn't return as there is just as good at a cheaper price elsewhere.
