I have an older Mac and was feeling quite perplexed about the potential cost of reviving an old Mac. I went to Advanced Computers and they showed a real empathy to my concerns. I first talked to Karen over the phone who made me feel comfortable about getting the machine assessed. When I got to their premises David greeted me on a very personal level, even actually listening to my response when asked how my day was going. After the machine had been assessed David was very clear about my options and made me feel confident that the choice I was making was the correct one. I received the computer back in a very reasonable time frame and at a reasonable cost. A few days later David took the time to follow up on how the machine was working and signed off with a comment regarding my response about the day I was having when I first met him. Perhaps this all sounds corny but to be treated with a bit of care and compassion is so rare these days. In short, I was very impressed with the service and care I received from the team at Advanced Computers. Thank you team, Darryl

A while ago I had issues with my external hard drive. I had very important content on this drive. The guy at reception was very professional when I called and asked for a quote. I took the broken drive in together with a new one. I met David at reception, who were very helpful and understanding of the importance of the data I needed to retrieve. Not long after I left I got an email update with the final quote and it was good news. They were able to retrieve the data. The service was great, quick and I am very happy. Advanced Computers has also helped me in the past with my mac so I am a happy return customer. I can recommend them for any computer repairs. I provided them my laptop when a cup of water was accidentally tipped on my laptop. I was charged $650 (including my inspection fee). After 10 days my laptop display is not working. I submitted to them and it's been one week I don't get any response from them. They were open in the level 3, that was a blessing. But now I am shooting in the dark. They replaced my battery during first repair. The screen had no issue at the time of first submission. I am not blaming them but when they quoted me the price of $650 I shouldn't have taken it. They provided me a back up laptop which was the slowest laptop I have ever seen in my life. I am unhappy with the service I am receiving. Follow up : They repaired my laptop but the display gone blank again and I bought an another laptop.

Two days later I received a clear itemized email with a diagnosis and costed options to repair or otherwise retrieve my files on a portable drive. HI all, had my laptop let me down in the middle of a client engagement. Dropped it off to Karen's team (have used them before) around 2:00 and was able to have full diagnostic and repair completed same day before 5:00pm. Small premium for same day urgency was well worth it. The team are highly capable, efficient in all areas, thorough and have done a great job. Has to seek them out as they have moved to Triton Drive (from Link Drive), but well worth it.

The technician that serviced my old Home Theatre was great. He tested the speakers and sorted out the two wires that had been dislodged very quickly. My PC was serviced at the Wairau business and I was so pleased that I was able to get it back with all the settings intact with downloads still available too. Submitted my laptop that had battery connectivity issues (battery won't charge) on the hopes of a quick resolution. They took a $50 inspection fee and two working days to conclude that the problem was that my battery did not charge because I had a faulty battery unit. So, I called and asked if this really was the case as I spent hours on diagnostics to check if the battery was the problem and my diagnostics told me that the battery was not the problem, but they said it was not the case and the battery was in fact the problem. Nevertheless, I trusted their surety and went ahead and got the battery replaced but the problem still persisted, the new battery would not charge as well. I took it back today and they said they needed 2 extra working days to get it inspected again by a more experienced technician ( why wasn't this done in the first place when I paid $50? Negligent and lackadaisical effort on their part). Therefore, I opted for a refund, but the technician said I had to come back in a few hours because they had to insert my old battery in. This was a nonsensical claim as I know it only takes 5 - 10 minutes to replace a battery, so when i offered to do it myself, the technician conceded and promptly switched the battery to my old one. The redeeming factor from this experience was that the receptionist was polite. The manager, when she found out about my case, followed me up and apologised for the the ordeal and assured me that their team would take greater care in the future. Hopefully my experience was just an outlier. But I would suggest going to the Penrose Branch rather than the Wairau Park branch for any complex laptop repairs that are not Apple.

Way back before the COVID level 4 lock-down I had a video camera with Advanced Computers for repairs. On collect it I found out that they also build computers. So some months later, having emailed Karen Zhang, I popped in and we spoke of what I would want, including extra cards and transfers for my video work. Karen gave me an excellent quote. I felt she gave me an wonderful time frame to complete the job. The project involved several visits for discussions and Karen ALWAYS had a wonderful smile Their service was 'Five Star', and have already passed on their name to fellow videographers. I would highly recommend them. I am having a few issues with another computer and Karen will be hearing from me again.

I had mistakenly dropped my Canon Digital Camera and the lens got stuck making it impossible to retract. I found Advanced Computers from Internet. The customer service staff was professional and courteous, advised me clearly on their repair procedures and time line. I used Advanced Computers North Shore recently as got my iPhone wet during a fishing trip. I paid extra for the 1 hour service so I could get my report quickly. I received my diagnosis with a breakdown of the costs etc. I went ahead and got it repaired and it has been working perfectly since. *****UPDATE****** So I have changed my rating from 3 stars to 5. Since the last time I wrote 3 days apart from the review below. I have been Contacted By the branch and have updated me. Unfortunately the courier company DHL Had not only misplaced my laptop parts they were using for repairs but had lost the package. While I understand this maybe a business deficit to them (and thanks to the receptionist I believe. ) they have reinstated me with a new laptop with slightly updated specs (which I researched into and can verify myself) to rectify the whole problem with no extra charge beyond the original qouta. This is definately above and beyond and suburb customer service and shows they really value customer satisfaction and loyalty. I also think something else may have happened to my old laptop though, as I have been told I cannot transfer old data from my laptop for an unknown reason. Hence why I believe I have been offered a new laptop but regardless, since they have offered a replacement one shows that the branch is ethical in practice. ********OLD REVIEW*********** I've decided to write this review now to give those the opportunity to think through first whether they really want to go to Advance Computers Wairau branch in particular. When it comes to phone repairs they have done a satisfactory job in the past. Currently I've decided to go to them for a laptop screen repairs. And there have been a few mishaps such as payment issues. The repair for me was expensive and Im on a low income so I could only pay the deposit (on top of the 50 inspection.) and while I was told when I handed it in from the receptionist that it was okay to pay my deposit (half the quoted cost) now and the rest later. Some miscommunication happened and the guy repairing my laptop emailed me 10 days later believing I hadn't payed in full and weren't aware of my deposit and didn't start on ordering the parts for my repair. I was a little annoyed upon finding out but after providing proof it was resolved and I have forgiven as miscommunication in business happen. My only critism is that I handed in my laptop around 24th-25th of February if memory serves me correct however it is now the 2nd of April and I have been checking in nearly everyday for the last week. Originally they said it would take 7-10 days (and then the lack of communication around payment prevented reapirs) they have ordered the parts and 2 weeks on from the payment mishap they're still awaiting on arrival. I was told by the receptionist that the courier delivering the parts for the laptop repairs was DHL and I have had problems with them in the past for other personal orders. Therefore what I would like to give as constructive criticism to the advance computer team is, if they're choosing to use DHL as there courier service I believe they should look into other courier services to deliver there parts. Looking through reviews there are a couple complaining about time it has taken for repairs and I believe this is probably the reason why. So for customers I would be cautious and question who is delivering the repair parts to them and if they're still using DHL then I'd probably refer to another laptop repair place. However since I haven't gotten my laptop back yet and they have been good in repairing my phone in the past I have no doubt there technical skills will be great. but if your looking for a fast repair this is probably not the place you want to go.

When it comes to advanced computers they get the job done. They handled my repair professionally and the staff were friendly. There were two noticeable downsides, the cost and the time it took. It was a little pricey and the initial inspection took longer than what was estimated by a few days. However you can trust these people to get the job done and ultimately that is what matters to most people.

Ps4 pro was stuck in safe mode loop. Brought it in and paid the 60$ inspection fee. Was identified as a faulty hdd. Paid 220$, the inspection fee counted towards the final fee, had it fixed 2 working days later. Almost 2 weeks later and it's going good. Ps support was charging me 350$ fee and 3 week repair estimate to fix it themselves in comparison. Highly recommended👍

Excellent and cheerful service from Advanced Computers who fixed my Canon 7D. From past experience I was anticipating a 2-4 week wait for my camera. I did some internet research where I found several choices. I wanted to know turn around and out the door costs, so I sent out a handful of emails. Advanced Computers replied in a thorough and timely manner - so I took a chance on them. Boom! Sent my DSLR off on a Friday afternoon and it was returned to me, working perfectly (and clean) on Tuesday- NOT EVEN A WEEK!! You can't beat the fast turnaround. I am happy and will use them again.

Just thought that I should give some feedback on Advanced Computers as regarding the servicing and repair of digital camera’s. First off I have no ties with this company and it has been the first time I have used them. Basically my back up Nikon body: a D600 stopped working after a hefty knock while within its bag, so needed repairing and as Advanced Computers were close to where I live I thought I would give them a try; so this is how it went: I took the Camera in on Thursday and paid the $50 deposit, which acts as a payment for the initial teardown and quote (the $50 becomes part of your bill should you choose to go ahead and have the repair made). I received the quote on the Friday, which for reference the costs were, as per quote pasted below: Mainboard assembly unit faulty, replacement required, plus camera cleaning and maintenance required. $554 incl Gst -Inspection Cost break down: - Parts Main board $380 incl GST (In store) - Labour for camera repair service $164 incl GST Note: the initial inspection fee $50 will be taken off the final service fee, the balance will be $494 incl GST. I thought this quote to acceptable but unfortunately the camera wasn’t insured; so probably like everyone; it can be a real annoyance having to pay for something that could have been avoided and in this case one just had to accept it and move on. The camera was ready on the Wednesday the following week (4 working days in total) which I thought was a very good quick repair and the camera works perfectly once more. So in summation: Advanced Computers gave me what I was after: great service, price and an excellent repair, what more could you ask for? Friendly and helpful staff? Yep they have them too and his name is Lovish Bhardwaj, a great guy. Really happy with their service. Hugh Jones: owner of Oceanz1 Ltd, so no connected at all with Advanced Computers (I import sailboats).

Advanced computers was able to diagnose the problem with my laptop within an hour of me taking it there, and was able to fix the problem within four hours. I was very impressed by their work, and now basically have a brand new laptop with 500gb more space on it. Thank you Advanced Computers! Lifesavers!

I brought in a 4-year old 2nd hand Toshiba gaming laptop I bought off trademe for $250. It had serious issues. I suspected that it was to do with the BIOS or something very technical. Lori took it in and asked me before undertaking any action on my order. Turned out that the motherboard needed to be replaced (I could see why. The thing couldn't run for more than a minute before shutting down). Cost of replacement: $350 including their fee. Total cost of laptop so far: $600. Long post warning: I picked up the laptop after the replacement but found some issues came up that weren't there before. I brought it back in and they fixed those up easily. Then, after I picked it up again, it wouldn't take a charge. So I dropped it back in and it turned out that the charging port needed to be replaced. At this point, I must admit I was getting a bit frustrated but I did give them a beat up old truck to work with so they were doing as best they could. It took a few weeks for the part to come in. I picked it up and tested it in front of them. Everything seemed fine. As soon as I got home, I tested it again and it wouldn't go! I brought it right back and they took it in again. They sympathised with me and took it in for further servicing and testing. Finally, I picked it up a few days after and everything was as good as gold. Despite a few return visits I had to do, all the extra servicing and replacements above were free of charge under their service warranty. It wasn't their fault that the laptop I gave them was old and possibly falling apart in itself. They took it in and gave every effort to get it sorted without charging me a penny more! Best part about it: they fixed it! So, all in all, I rate Advance Computers 5/5 for their service, know-how and can-do. Special mention goes to Lori who was with from start to finish and made sure the job got done well. Their technician, Kevin, was also very accommodating and got the damn thing fixed in the end. Thanks heaps, you guys!

I brought my Toshiba laptop because of it's keyboard lagging problem. I was worried that it won't get fixed in time and i had to pay hundred's of dollars if ever my laptop's whole keyboard need to be replaced, told them that i need to have it repaired within the week because i'm going out of the country next week. They said they'll let me know if they can have it done within the week and surprisingly after a few hours i got a call from them saying my laptop's keyboard is all good and ready to be picked up :-). We were looking for an Apple computer technician and Joon at Advanced computers was 'THE MAN'. We were having a number of issues including 'Conflicting' wifi issues, all emails were lost from Outlook for Mac 2011 because of iCloud. In this instance Microsoft were of no assistance with this and told us they were not recoverable! One iMac computer running extremely slow. All these issues were resolved by Joon, a technician at Advanced Computers.
