Thank you Latitude Homes for building our first home! It was our first time to build a home and we were told that behind the excitement are stressful decisions and unexpected twists and turns. The section that we wanted our home to be built was not as steep as others in the Wellington region, but the wind factor is really strong here in our section. Latitude was willing to take on the project.
Our home was a mix of standard and non-standard specs. They used good quality materials and they were transparent with the costs. The build wasn't without hiccups but Latitude made sure things get sorted.
The actual physical build took roughly 9 months to complete; June 2018 until March 2019. I guess 8 months if we exclude the holiday break. We were told by friends and colleagues that it should only take 6 months to build but as Alix mentioned- “he doesn’t want to compromise the quality of the build”, which gave me confidence in Alix and Latitude.
Latitude was already with us almost 3 years ago from the planning and paper works. Alix, Amanda and their project managers supported and guided us throughout the entire home building experience. When I signed the contract to build our home with Alix and Latitude, he mentioned to me that “the key to a successful project is communication” and I’m glad both of us are in the same page. Since we have someone from the Latitude team that communicates with us and for us, we were shielded from most of the stress of building our home.
Overall, I highly recommend Latitude Homes giving them 4.5 stars. The Wellington team is a pleasure to deal with especially Alix and Amanda who are trustworthy and easy to talk to. If we get the chance to build another home, I would gladly ask Alix and the Latitude team to build our next one.

We built our dream home with Latitude - Wellington and are very happy with the building process. Overall very impressed with the timeframe they took to complete the project. We had a specific design in our mind, and Alix and Amanda were helpful to accommodate all the tweaks we requested in the plan to suit us. We highly recommend Latitude homes-Wellington, and we would work with them again. Thanks to your awesome team.

I built my first home with Latitude homes here in Wellington, Alix and his team made the entire process incredibly smooth and stress free from start to finish. Their communication was great and any problems that arose were quickly sorted out and managed properly.
I couldn't be happier with the build quality and the time it took to build my new home. Latitude were completely understanding in my requirements and budget and were quick to provide a plan that would best suit me. They were transparent with their pricing and strictly stuck to budget which made things very easy.
I highly recommend using Latitude homes to anyone looking to build a new home, it was a pleasure working with Alix and Amanda and I defiantly look forward to building with them again in the future.

We used Graham and Kate from Latitude Homes to build our property in Foxton Beach, we would happily recommend building with them to anyone who is in the market. Communication throughout was great and the build quality has been stand out. Graham & Kate take pride in what they do and we look forward to building with them again in the future!

The thing that impressed me most about Latitude Homes was the prompt response we received from Alix when we contacted him via the website - he was even on holiday and responded! Other house builders we contacted never got back to us. My husband and I were also thrilled that we could do shell only as this enabled us to start the build sooner than we had thought and helped us to save money by doing some of the interior work ourselves once the shell was finished. All along Alix has been supportive, always available to talk to and ready to fix anything we were not happy about during the build process. The only thing that was not so good was that the shell build took much longer than we had hoped - 3 1/2 months longer - and cost a bit more than expected. The build however looks awesome and is our dream come true!

I am in the process of building a house with the Wellington team - Alix, Cameron and Amanda. They have been great to deal with so far. Keeping in contact about the delivery of items and where the process is up to. Also letting us know if any of their suppliers are delayed. So far we have had no problems at all with with everything close to finishing i can highly recommend building with Latitude Wellington.

We worked with Alix Brew at Latitude Homes on a home built to lock up stage i.e. all exterior construction completed by Latitude Homes and I finished the interior.
As such our experience was probably not typical of most full contract builds, but nevertheless instructive.
Alix is very personable to deal with, and has good experience of the NZ building scene, as well as some good insights derived from his time in the UK. He is quick in his communication and willing to negotiate in a reasonable fashion when challenged. He will put his hand up if an expense is his responsibility and will happily discuss matters which may be in dispute.
During the design phase we did find that the draftsmen working for Latitude needed more than one attempt to incorporate all changes which had been specifically pointed out in our designs. This did cause delays and I recommend ensuring that any changes required are explicitly detailed, perhaps with a check off list to make sure all are incorporated in one hit, rather than going to and fro.
Because our build had owner involvement there were issues related to a (I believe) since terminated building subcontractor and various inspections. For example some fixings on a bracing wall had not been installed by the builder at the correct intervals, and this was not discovered until it had been lined with gib. Needless to say this did cause a palpitation or three, however we worked with Alix to successfully resolve a relatively complex issue to our satisfaction. He remained calm and rational through the process which helped greatly.
Again because our build was more complex we did have to keep a close eye on the exclusions/inclusions which I do recommend when dealing with Latitude or any building company. Although this part of the process was not fault free we did find Alix reasonable and honest to deal with.
Overall a 3.5 to 4 star experience, although this is for a more complex build. If you are looking to do similar I recommend keeping a careful watch on all inspections, as well as ensuring that you have multiple quotes for any additional extras. Alix is trustworthy, but still a businessman with a profit motive. He was relatively new to the Latitude Homes franchise when I was dealing with him and I expect will continue to improve. Be aware that you will be not dealing solely with Alix during a build, and ensure that you are happy with each member of the team before proceeding.

Our house was a little different from the standard Latitude design but never the less Latitude stepped up and we are very pleased with the result. We put considerable trust in Alix and the team as we were having the house built in the North island while residing in the South.
Alix has a pleasant manner and always had a willingness is resolve problems in an equitable manner. As with all projects of this manner there are a number of sub contractors of varying abilities to be coordinated. Building is a complicated business and always a little stressful. Putting things right when stuff inevitably happens is the key to good project management.
Cameron was challenged in coming onto the job part way through and seemed a little stretched at times with the number of projects he was overseeing however all came well in the end.
In our particular circumstances it proved to be a good decision to go with Latitude and Alix and the team more than proved their worth and the trust we put in them.

It was a great experience to work with Latitude Homes. Alix is very friendly, approachable and delivered exactly as how we wanted without exceeding our budget. I would definitely go with them again.
