As first home buyers we weren't sure what to expect with our inspection. Our inspector; Simon, was awesome! He was thorough, gave good advice on how to fix things and was honest on the condition of the house - Able to do the inspection well within our time frame and had the report to us the following business day. Would highly recommend!!!

This is a difficult company to review. Initially I was very impressed with them. Asset Property Inspection in ran by husband and wife team Becky and Simon Watts. Becky runs the office, Simon conducts the inspections. Their pre-sales service was faultless. The inspection was carried out professionally and Simon took the time to go through his findings in detail. The detailed report arrived a few days later. However, once the inspection was over, the after sales service could have been better. It appears Simon had missed a few defects in the lounge. In 3 areas the floor boards were unsupported by the joists and when you walked over them they gave way slightly. I don't have an issue with this, we are all human and make mistakes. However, when I raised this with Becky initially she thought we were referring to a floor defect in the laundry that Simon had found. When I made it clear this was another floor defect he hadnt spotted she was keen to add it to the report without having Simon come out and take a look at it., telling me it was all the same issue. She would amend and resend the report. I said I wasn't happy with this which was met with resistance. I felt like I had paid my money, had their service and that was that. I then replied saying “ Ok, here's the thing. Simon missed the 'hole' in the floor in the lounge. What you have done is looked at our photos of the floor and our description of the fault and added it into the inspection report as if it were detected on the day of inspection. I understand he is unable to expose flooring invasively but he would be in a much better position to advise as to the extent of the problem than you and I are off-site. This is not the quality of service I expect from you especially having gone to the trouble of sourcing a company I believed were reliable and professional. Are you telling me this is the best you can do for us?” Finally Simon went back to the property to inspect in person. To be clear, I have no problem with Simon or the fact that he missed a something. We all make mistakes. What I find troubling is the effort i had to go to to get the fault reinspected. Any company that values its professional standard of customer service would never have passed this fault off without a reinspection. Also given the response from the owner it appears they are not welcome to constructive feedback either. Any business thats wants to continue to grow would be wise to remember the adage "its easier to keep existing customers than to find new ones". We paid $460 inc for a pre-purchase inspection that took about 3 hours to complete.

These guys were amazing to deal with! We needed an inspection for a rental property we were purchasing in Whangarei and we live a few hours away so couldn't get there to check anything out. The team had fantastic communication throughout the inspection process and gave helpful tips and advice along the way. They made the process of purchasing our first rental property so much easier for us. Very highly recommended!
