I recently moved to Auckland and was very nervous about finding a new dentist. However, Dr Karl was just amazing when I visited for treatment last week. He was very kind and put me at ease straight away. He talked me through the procedure as he was doing it so i could understand what was happening in my mouth. I needed a local anesthetic and it was truly pain free. He ensured I was comfortable the whole time. Music playing while I was in the chair was also a lovely touch to help me relax. I would absolutely recommend Dr Karl. Very professional.

I am so impressed by the care and professional knowledge and expertise of the dentist Andy and his nurses. I went in expecting to pay for two crowns. Andy examined thoroughly and advised me of the lack of necessity, and treated me expertly at a tenth of the cost. He has fixed broken teeth, an abscess and a faulty implant. I couldn't recommend him and his compassionate staff more highly.

I’m 24 years old and iv always been afraid of the dentist. It wasn’t so bad when I was younger as I would have my parents take me in. As an adult iv been reluctant to go see a dentist just out of fear, but when I contacted symond street dental and told them how I was feeling, they showed patience and kindness and really made me feel a lot better about the whole thing. Since going in the first time a couple weeks ago (shaking with nerves) iv been in a few more times and I have fully gotten over my fear of the dentist! Big shout out to Andy and the team! They were all very gentle and patient with me

Dr Grayson and his team provide the best dental care I have ever experienced. As a previous Dental assistant myself, I cannot speak highly enough of the treatment and care they provide. The receptionists are accomodating, friendly, and quick to respnd to any queries. Dr Grayson and the Hygenist Kirsty both put any worries at ease, are gentle, and provide an educational/informative experience. Very happy to have found this office.

I have always had a great experience coming to see Andy Greyson. Always professional and personal care. Would recommend highly!

I have high respect for this professional team: efficiency, precision in diagnosis and treatment, range of services and a welcoming environment. I had a good impression of this clinic 20 years ago and upon revisit last year, I experienced the same high standard and referred a colleague of mine straight away. Very good clinic, everything is organazed for you: clickable link for follow up appointments (so you could book quicker) is sent to you via text message, lovely music is played during your treatment, beautiful rooms :) I had fillings done by Dr. Karl, and he was the most pleasant dentist I've ever had: he was explaining and giving me updates on how we were going, before starting doing something different he would always tell me what's coming next. I did not feel any pain at all. Highly recommend.

I had pain somewhere in my mouth and we couldn’t pin point where it was coming from. Dr Andy was beyond professional with his assessment which took 3 visits to properly diagnose; We started from the least invasive treatment and found the problem. I’m so glad I came here and not somewhere else. All other staff have been very welcoming as well. No one likes going to the dentist but this was a delightful experience. Thank you!

Dr Andrew was professional and he gave me helpful suggestions after checked my teeth. I also had two pleasant experience with Kathryn for my dental cleaning under a reasonable price. She was very nice and took good care of my teeth.

I am really impressed by the team at this practice. I hadn't been to the dentist in about 8 years, so had a bit of work to catch up on. The staff are all super friendly, efficient, professional and genuinely care. I would recommend Karl if you are anxious about dental treatment as he is gentle and explains everything clearly. It's also really easy to book a checkup yourself on their website. It was an absolute pleasure and I will definitely be back!

Dr. Karl Johnston and his team are absolutely amazing! I am extremely scared of going to the dentist, but the whole team made me feel comfortable and at ease - right from the receptionist, the nurse, and the doctor. I had to remove 2 teeth and I was literally shaking in the chair. The nurse, Kathryn, held my hand and comforted me. There was music playing in the room, so I could listen to something else other than the dental equipment. Dr Karl explained the whole procedure, so I knew what to expect and there were no surprises. I didn't experience any pain during the procedure and after. I kept expecting my cheek to swell up and for throbbing pain to kick in, but NOTHING of that sort happened. I will absolutely recommend Dr Karl and his team to anyone looking for a dentist. In fact I can't thank him enough for the amazing job he did. Thank you Dr Karl and your amazing team. You have renewed my faith in dentists! *cheesy but true* :D

I had a hygienist visit in Symonds Street Dental Centre and the whole experience was great. Vicky was very gentle and careful when she was cleaning my teeth. It was an enjoyable dental visit. Highly recommended.

I've always been very nervous about visiting the dentist, so when Andy at Symonds Street Dental Centre came highly recommended by a good friend I decided to give him a try. That was 13 years ago and I'm still a regular. The customer service is excellent, treatment options are explained clearly so you know the cost/plan in advance, and most importantly, no nerves. I've recommended the Centre to friends and family over the years - 5 stars from me.

I was at the end of my New Zealand trip. After New Zealand we had planned to travel for four weeks in the Philippines. I had an infection on my tooth where I had had a root canal treatment. Karl Johnston the dentist saved my holidays with a quick and good treatment. He is a very competent dentist and I recommend him to everyone.

I had recently visited Dr Karl to consult about the issues I had with my old front crowns, Dr Karl took his time to thoroughly explain everything and was able to fixed my problem in a timely frame. Cathie at the reception was also excellent she managed to appoint me into their very busy schedule just before Easter. I was very happy with the end results. I have been going to Andrew Grayson at Symonds Street Dental for a number of years. The service has always been fantastic with friendly and caring staff. Andrew is very patient and highly experienced. He explains the treatment required in great detail. I feel totally at east and know that I am getting the best service. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone. Free parking really helps and proximity to my office is fantastic.

Meg, Karl and Tina were all delightful to encounter. A very friendly and fully functioning team, that clearly enjoyed and respected working alongside one another. Meg had a friendly and welcoming manner, that showed genuine interest in you as a patient and individual, with Karl meticulously surveying the factual state of your teeth, translating dentistry language and offering all treatment options available, stating the benefits and draw backs of each. There was no “telling off”, freedom of choice and even room for positive feedback about your current tooth care. They have five stars for a reason and I would highly endorse their service from start to finish.

Highly recommended, fantastic staff who were friendly and professional. My treatment was clearly explained and Karl talked me through my x-ray & what he could see. I felt completely at ease and am super happy with the results. Lovely practice and easy to park too. Brilliant.

Having just arrived in Auckland for a 4-week holiday in the beautiful New Zealand I needed an emergency treatment. The dentist Andrew really took the time to go through the options and its implications. A sound and joint decision making process! I have been going to see Andy Grayson and his team since stumbling in one Tuesday morning with a massive tooth ache over 2 years ago. I was looked after that time and every time since and have found them to be trustworthy, skilled, friendly and painless to deal with. And what's more the price has been reasonable as well! Going to the dentist now does not hold the fear it used to. I've even had a few sessions with the hygenist and my teeth have never looked better. Keep up the good work guys - I'm a regular now! Highly recommend Karl Johnston and his staff who are awesome, always friendly and make me feel at ease while am there. He knows I will only visit him if I have to always hate going to the dentist and he always used plenty of numbing cream so I can't feel the needle for local anaesthetic. He explains what's wrong and then what he can do and always explains what's happening as he goes along with your treatment. Now the bonus part is you can choose what sounds you want to listen too it just help me to relax more and not focus on the sound of the drilling. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Navy Dental system was excellent, after leaving the forces and going to a civilian dentist i had a terrible experience and was put off the dentist. I avoided them at all costs. Until i needed to go, i heard the ad on the radio and thought id try my luck. Like the rest of you i don't like going to the dentist, but hands down this dental center is the best. Best service and dental experience I've ever had. Great facilities with the latest tech and procedures to ensure its as comfortable as such a task can be, they are efficient honest and well priced. And the work carried out is excellent. This will be my regular dentist from now on and i'm telling anyone who's interested that this is the place to go. Ps i even got to pick what music i wanted to listen to.... game changer :)

Thank you doctor Andrew for everything. I came with urgent issue of the massive toothache and infection, I feel a lot better after the treatment and the medicine. He explains really well even I couldn’t understand but I feel less nervous about the treatment. I can feel my infection is getting better and better. 10/10 for dr. Andrew also for the pain free and fast treatment. Recommend to everyone who is hesitating to treat their toothaches.

Hooray after half a century and a global hunt the search is finally over for a dentist I feel comfortable with. I had a cracked tooth which required extraction. Andy was professional and highly competent while at the same time being informative, friendly and approachable without being patronising. Highly recommended. UPDATE: I'm sure the majority of us have, at one time or another, booked in with a dental hygienist and received a cursory pick and a prod with a tepid turn of the polisher to terminate a generally unfulfilling visit - not so with Vicky at Symonds St Dental who gets a huge shoutout! The consummate professional - every step explained in detail and meticulous care and attention paid to my precious pearls. Every single tooth received some well earned expert attention and they now feel and look fantastic. A big shoutout also goes to Cathie the practice manager - thanks for the smooth operation and the ever warm welcome.

Had 4 implants fitted by Karl , he done a great job, very professional and caring. Would definitely use again and recommend him to anyone looking to have implants fitted. Thanks again Karl. All the best. John.

The dentist was all right. But the reception lady was awful. I was try to ask some questions about my previous treatment which has been done few weeks ago. But the lady could not answer it, and won't let me talk to the dentist unless I pay for another visit. Seriously, I could not ask any more questions which related to the service I already paid for, unless I pay again? Wow, very good at doing a business. The dentist called back, had a nice talk, only took few mins to answer my questions, over all they are still good oral care practitioner.

Went in for my routine check up, firstly the practise is beautifully decorated, super clean and the staff make you feel at ease, friendly and professional. Could not ask for a better dentist, especially if it's not you're favourite thing to do they really make you feel special

Have seen Karl and the team four times now - a consultation, a root canal, and two days in a row for treatment for periodontitis. I can't rate them highly enough. Technically very proficient - outstanding for pain relief / giving injections (I mean, let's face it, they're always gonna hurt, but they don't have to hurt so much if they're done slowly, and Karl really takes his time) - and patient care is superb: good explanations and recommendations without that you're-a-civilian-so-I-can't-use-the-big-words patronising attitude I've encountered before with medical professionals. If you're scared of going to the dentist, if you've been putting off dental care, go to Symonds Street Dental Centre. They'll take really good care of you.

Wonderful service! I checked Google reviews before choosing this Dental Centre and I wasn't disappointed at all. Dr. Andrew is an excellent professional and both receptionist and assistant were great as well. I will definitely go back to use their services again. Thanks for everything.

I got more from Karl on my first visit than I have from all the dentists I've seen over the years, combined! He was thorough, clearly explained the problem, and gave me a range of treatment options. This practice is easy to find and has free inner city parking. I can't recommend Just Smile highly enough.

I have been a patient of Symonds Street Dental Centre for about ten years now. In this time I have received an outstanding level of care from Dentist Andy Grayson. Due to a sporting injury, I needed implant replacements for two teeth. These were very tricky implants to get right (shape, colour etc.) However, Andy was determined to deliver the absolute best result for me and I now have a better smile than ever before. Additionally, Cathie (Chief Organiser) went above and beyond to ensure the whole procedure would fit into my very difficult time-frame. I cannot say enough for them and will never go anywhere else. Brilliant!

Awesome website, so easy to book an appointment online. Friendly and professional staff. Nice clean and modern practice. Dr. Karl explained what was wrong and what has to be done. Also as they went along updated me on what they are doing. I would recommend them any day.
