I was visiting the area when I needed an emergency appointment due to severe toothache. I was thankfully able to get into see Sydenham Dental Centre's Principal Dentist during the recent holiday period. I was a very nervous patient, but he was great and so was his assistant that day. I can honestly say it was one of the best visits I've ever experienced going to a dentist, and I felt no pain. I'm very grateful and thankful for the amazing customer service and support that day, thank you so much!!!

If I could give 1000 stars to Chamil and his awesome team at Sydenham dental I would! After avoiding going to the dentist due to being so fearful of what my wisdom teeth extraction would entail, I feel so silly. The procedure was so quick, painless and I was excited to go back the following week to show how well everything has healed!!! Thank you for the best experience I have ever had at the dentist! If you are the slightest bit anxious I would strongly recommend going here.

Absolutely fantastic service, friendly staff make you feel safe and valued. They take their time with each patient to give them what they need instead of asking them to return at a later date. Highly recommend. Cheap dentist for those with lower incomes.

Had my fillings, root canal, crown and wisdom teeth extraction with Dr Chamil. He’s professional and helpful. Every time he explained to me what the problem of my teeth was and advised me possible solutions which I could decide from by myself. The price is reasonable and they even have payment plans. I visited Sydenham Dental centre last week and the service provided was way above my expectations. I had an appointment for a root canal treatment booked in with Dr. Chamil Samaranayake and he was very informative and kind the whole time. He explained every process of the root canal treatment and checked up on me every step of the way. The staff at Sydenham Dental centre were supportive and I was taken in on time to the appointment. I've been having problems with my teeth for the past 3 years. I've been going to my usual dentist but nothing seemed to do any good. After the 2nd lock down I visited Sydenham dental. The staff was absolutely amazing. They were friendly and very supportive. I got 2 x-rays and a detailed consultation from Chamil. It was a short appointment but he showed me the 2 x-rays on a screen and explained the work that was needed. I ended up getting a full root canal and 2 fillings. One cavity was soo deep that it was almost touching the nerve. However Dr. Chamil was able to detect it just on time and fill it. This would have costed me around $1500 plus in 3 months, but we fixed it with $175. High recommended !!!

I came here thru a grab one voucher for an exam and xrays but I will be returning because of the service. I had a comprehensive clean booked 6months later and forgot I had to get a filling too, which has always been a very anxious experience for me. Lizzie and her assistant with the wonderful eyebrows (sorry I don't know her name!) were so kind and caring throughout the procedure. And best of all I didn't feel any pain. I'm not sure what the extra discount I received when I went to pay was for but I felt it was very good value. I will make this my regular dentist in future.

Have never enjoyed going to a dentist. Finally visited after having multiple problems with my wisdom teeth, it was decided that I should have them all taken out. I was worried at first as I wasn't going under sedation but Chamil and his team were very caring and made me feel very comfortable. I had my two impacted wisdom teeth removed on 1st June and because due to its anatomy , Dr. Chamil had explained the risks of temporary to permanent numbness, I was so anxious! Dr. Chamil and his staff were very professional and highly skilled. They made the procedure very smooth. Two weeks after the surgery, I didn’t feel any numbness despite having the risk of damaging the nerve. I would definitely recommend the team!

I got some fillings from Chamil and Darcie today and the worst part of the whole thing was trying not to giggle throughout the procedure. I would go back in everyday just for the great company. The two of them and the rest of the team are absolutely lovely and made me feel welcome and well looked after from start to finish. I hadn't been to a dentist in years. The team were easy to deal from a checkup and xrays, professional and gave me up to date information, I ended up having 2 partial dentures after having teeth pulled. They taking a bit of getting use to but looking forward to getting the stainless dentures after Christmas.

I've been absolutely blown away by the professional care I've received from Chamil and his team! I would HIGHLY recommend them for anyone needing dental work - especially if you're normally nervous when seeing a dentist. Over the course of 9 months I've had two wisdom teeth removed, a root canal, and several fillings done. Chamil is wonderful - he goes above and beyond to make you feel at ease and comfortable. He frequently checked in on how I was doing pain wise - especially throughout the more intense procedures. My wisdom teeth were fairly complex so took a while; I was given another numbing injection at the first sign of pain. I received a follow up phone call that same evening to check how I was doing and to make sure I didn't have any issues. When the stiches started causing me discomfort I was offered an immediate appointment to have them sorted out. When getting fillings, I was told to call if any of them were uncomfortable/rough/sitting too high etc, as they can fit you in urgently to fix them. The reception team are friendly and welcoming, making you feel at ease from the moment you walk in. The dental assistants are gentle and careful. On top of all of this, they offer affordable prices and payment plans if needed. I cannot recommend this amazing dental team highly enough!

I have had a great experience with the dental since I first visited. I've had two fillings put in and three teeth removed. The staff were aware of the mental health issues I have and all were extremely kind. I cannot recommend them enough. (29/32. I would rate 32/32 but they removed three. I would give them a plaque but they don't like them.)

Great experience after avoiding getting 2 wisdom teeth out for 3 years. Finally decided to get it done and chose Sydenham Dental due to these good reviews and reasonable pricing. Chamil was thorough and careful, and I had no pain, during or after (took painkillers for 3 days then was fine), despite needing stitches. Healed within 2 weeks and wasn't a big deal. Would really recommend for anyone who is very nervous about dental treatment. I listened to music during, which really helped too. Had I realised how easy and painless he made it, I would have gone much earlier!

It was my very first time to visit a dentist in New Zealand. I was told that dental cost is too expensive in here. However, finally I decided to visit a dentist to do cleaning and a check up including a X-Ray. I was in the clinic on time. Within less than 5 min of waiting, nurse took me to the room and introduced me to the Dentist. It was Dr.Chamil who done the X-ray, Checkup and the cleaning treatment. He was super friendly, kind and done a fantastic job. Whole treatment and the checkup only took less than 45min. No pain or whatsoever, very affordable and worth every penny. Learnt lot about my teeth and some advises from the doctor. Definitely going back again and already made this place my dental clinic. Overall Very friendly, kind and inexpensive service. I have found Peter and his team at Sydenham dental to be caring and helpful. They always give me my options for treatment and help me make the best decision for my dental care. His hygienists Amy and Vicky are really caring and gentle and keep me nice and healthy and tell me how I can improve my cleaning regimen at home to get the optimum results. They don't ask me to do anything that they don't do themselves. So if you are looking for a friendly and experienced team these are the guys to go to. I can't recommend them enough. I purchased a voucher as I just lost a filling. This was truly one of the most satisfying customer service experiences I have ever had. The team here are very professional but relaxed and couldn't do enough to look after me. Even suggesting revisiting an old ACC claim that allowed me to fix a visual issue on a front capped tooth at minimal cost. The change was amazing and my previous dentist had never mentioned this option. The filling replacement was of a very high standard but overall I felt I couldn't have chosen a better dentist. Plus the cost was far less than I have paid before. Great work to the team. I have already referred several of my friends and couldn't rate them highly enough.

My husband used Sydenham Dental for a full extraction in preparation for full immediate dentures. My husband has had a fear of dental surgeries for a while now since waking during a past procedure (with a different dentist). He was very nervous to get this procedure done for this reason but Chamil and the team have made this so easy. Chamil is fantastic at explaining the procedure in a way that makes it easy to understand and know what to expect. Chamil is extremely knowledgeable and one of the most helpful dentists we have come across. He lets you know that you are in charge and he will stop as soon as your feel any discomfort and helps with the discomfort before re-starting. I fully recommend this dental practice. A++.

I am a 59 year old semi-retired engineer. I have had significant dental health problems through the years, and have been treated by various dental health professionals over the years here in Christchurch. Of them all I would rank the staff at Sydenham Dental Centre, and Senior Dentist Peter Pallet in particular the best of all. Courteous, obliging and above all completely professional, always willing to discuss treatment options and caring in all pain management issues. Although perhaps not the cheapest, they certainly are not the most expensive. And some years ago when I was a bit short of funds Peter detected this, and without actually saying so gave me something of a discount for the urgently needed treatment, and granted me a monthly plan of payment. And most recently I was able to talk Peter into attempting a root canal treatment ( a specialty of his) that he was initially reluctant to do because of its obvious difficulty. Excellent service. Went here today, first visit to a dentist in 10 years... (I know, pretty bad), and had a broken tooth removed. Mouth has been sore for weeks. I was in for less than half an hour, some small-talk to relax my nerves, given anesthetic, and tooth removed in that time. The dentist and assistant made me feel very calm and relaxed and assured me that it's never too late. I'm a typical tradie, lots of cuts, bruises and scars, never worried too much about health, and love a cold beer, but they helped me feel relaxed and comfortable, and give me some fresh hope. If you're nervous about visiting a dentist because it's been awhile, then go here, no need to live in pain or discomfort when a dentist can sort it in less than half an hour. Excellent dentists!
