We brought our Dutch Shepard, Felix because he was starting to snarl and lunge if strangers came even remotely close. I was worried he would bite soon, and I could not manage his training despite prolonged efforts to do so. He is my 3rd dog in the large to extra large breed category; I have had great success with training my dog on my own in the past. So I was stuped with these increasingly worsening issues. Chuck took the time to really understand the problems, and manage expectations about the desired outcome. We left him in Luciana and Chuck's very capable hands. 4 weeks was hard, but easier with the many photos and videos of his progress. He's been home now about 2 weeks. He came back with beautiful manners, is alert and eager to respond to my requests. I was a little worried he would regress, but he hasn't! The freedom of the ecollar has also improved the quality of not just my life, but his as well. He loves the freedom of being off leash! The go home training is also amazing, very detailed and helpful. I simply can't say enough great things about these wonderful folks! Look no further if you need help with your furry family member!

Our mini Aussie, Gus, spent 3 weeks with Luciana and Chuck in the summer of 2021. He came home a new dog! Prior to the training, Gus was extremely anxious and reactive to other dogs/humans on walks and to any unfamiliar visitors in our home. He did not have recall at the park and was easily distracted. He was very triggered by runners and skateboards. After his time at Balanced K-9, he’s the best behaved dog at the park and has amazing recall. We now know his triggers on walks and can set him up for success. We know to put him in place when new visitors are coming in and allow him to get comfortable with their presence before they greet him. We continue to be amazed at how well he is retaining all his tools. It takes consistence and continued work from us humans, but it is well worth it to have the confidence in Gus and ourselves. We sing the praises of balanced K-9 whenever we get the chance!

I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Chuck and Luciana. We have a 85 pound black lab Rottweiler and we were having a lot of issues due to honestly a lack of discipline and boundaries on our part. Bo was extremely protective of not only toys and food but also space to the point that he was aggressive and biting at times. He jumped at anyone who came over, was impossible on a leash, ripped apart the house whenever we left etc. We have a six month old baby at home and Bos very unpredictable behavior put us at a point where we really did not know what to do. We didn’t even have people over anymore because we didn’t know how he would be. We were completely lost and afraid that there was no one who could help us but Bo was and is our first baby and we would do anything for him. Luckily I found Chuck after nights and nights of research and talking with trainers and after just speaking with him felt so much better about our situation. Now having Bo back we could not be happier. We can take Bo anywhere and everywhere on and off leash. He is so much happier and is able to really get out and enjoy things that we couldn’t do before because of his behavior. We took him hiking this past weekend and there were so many people and other dogs and we got at least ten people commenting on how amazing Bo was and on his “training”. I honestly recommend them to everyone and I know in the future I will send all of my dogs to them as well as just reach out for any questions or concerns I have going forward because of the knowledge they have. They completely saved our family from our worst nightmare of having to give up our baby boy. We are forever grateful! ❤️❤️❤️

We could not be happier with the results from the 3 week program with The Balanced K-9! It was worth every penny and we can’t wait for our dog to go back for boarding when we are on vacation.
Our 7 month old Goldendoodle puppy Hercules, has always been a sweet boy, but he got so big so fast and we let some bad habits develop. He was also our first family dog so the overall training at home wasn’t our strength. He lacked self control around other people and dogs, and at 60+ pounds going for walks became painful and stressful. While he could do basic commands, none were reliable if there was a distraction present, and his recall was non-existent. We don’t have a fenced in yard so the e collar portion of the training was key for us.
It’s now been two weeks since he’s been back home and we continue to be amazed. We have the fun loving, well-behaved dog we always wanted. Chuck and Luciana were born to do this, they have such a gentle way about them and how they interact with the dogs.
Equally as important as the training for our dog, was the two hour training Chuck and Luciana did with our family when it was time for Hercules to come home. They went through everything he learned and for each skill had us practice. They even made a house call visit a few days after graduation to check on him and go over a few more items. They have reiterated several times if we have any questions or need any support they are available.
While this is a lot of money and we missed our puppy very much, we looked at this as a long term investment for the life of Hercules. We are so thrilled with this program and love getting compliments on our well-behaved puppy!

I cannot say enough great things about my (and my pups) experience with The Balanced K-9! Truly amazing! I have a 8 month old male pitbull/ lab mix who is extremely outgoing and playful - but was misbehaving, had very poor recall, separation anxiety, biting, you name it. He would bark when left alone, destroy anything he could grab, pee, etc. I was looking for a program that would provide him with the basic commands, as well as behavior modification. He was with the Balanced K-9 team for 4 weeks, and I was given updates (videos, pictures, etc) every few days! They explained the process before hand when we dropped him off- and answered all of my questions. He has been home for a few days and already is starting to pick up the change in environment well! Luciana, Chuck, and the team were very thorough and helpful when he came back, and gave us all of the tools we need to continue to reinforce his new way of living!!! I am so grateful for them - I was always stressed out and didnt know what to do anymore and now I can relax, work without disruption, leave the room without him barking, and he will only get better as time goes on! Thank you so so much!!! I would recommend them to everyone!!

Luciana and Chuck were a pleasure to work with! They took the time to understand our specific concerns and catered training to our environment to set us up for success following the program. Our “go home” session was very thorough to make sure that we could replicate what the dogs learned with the trainers so they don’t fall back into bad habits once home. For every question we had, Luciana demonstrated the answer so that we could fully understand. We had a great experience with The Balanced K-9, we were comfortable knowing that our dogs were in a home with dog-lovers, and we loved getting update videos throughout. It is encouraging and motivating to see what my dog is capable of so that I can reinforce this new good behavior!

I highly endorse hiring The Balanced K-9 to train your pup!
Prior to hiring The Balanced K-9, Chuck and Luciana were extremely open and responsive to all questions relating to their program and dog training in general. This was refreshing, as many of the other training programs I spoke to would not disclose specific information about their programs until an evaluation was conducted. After answering my numerous questions, we settled on placing our 5-month-old puppy in the two-week train and board program. As first time dog owners, we were nervous about sending our puppy off for two weeks, Chuck and Luciana were kind and reassuring that she would be in good hands, and she was!
One of the best aspects of the Balanced K-9’s program is the “Go Home” visit. Upon conclusion of the two weeks, both Chuck and Luciana brought our puppy home to demonstrate skills learned and generalize training into the home setting. We were so impressed by the impulse control of our 5-month-old puppy! Her ability to sit/stay, hold place, and walk calmly on a leash was/is incredible. Luciana took us through the techniques and had us practice to ensure we had it down. Chuck and Luciana were patient and more than willing to answer all of our many questions with great detail and expertise. You can tell that training dogs is a true passion for them!
In the weeks that followed, our pup continued to maintain and better the training skills learned in the board and train program. Though being a puppy, she, of course, was not perfect and we started to notice a new behavior of her jumping/growling while she was playing/highly stimulated. I reached out to Chuck and Luciana to see if they could provide any advice or assistance. They were immediately responsive and enthusiastic to help get this behavior under control. After implementing the strategies suggested, our puppy stopped the behavior completely! It is comforting to know we have experts that care about our dog and her growth/training even long after completion of their program. While many people or programs routinely say “contact us if you have any questions,” Chuck and Luciana really mean it!
I highly recommend hiring The Balanced K-9; they will provide you great training, great results, and great people!

My experience with Luciana and Chuck at the Balance K9 was very pleasant and positive. The Balanced K9 was very attentive to answering their emails with any questions that I had about their program. They were also very accommodating and understanding when I needed to push back my puppy, Coal’s, drop off date due to a last minute issue. When dropping Coal off, Chuck explained the process that they implement with the dogs and reassured me that Coal would be well taken care of.
Throughout Coal’s stay at the Balanced K9, I received daily video updates that showed Coal learning the new commands and the excellent progress that he was making. I was also able to see updates and videos on their Instagram page, as well as chat with Luciana about his progress.
The pickup session was about two hours long and was very informative. Luciana went over all of the commands that Coal learned and had me practice with him for a seamless transition back home. While Coal is still a young puppy and has a lot of energy and times of over excitement, he is so much more obedient and I couldn’t recommend the Balanced K9 enough! The progress that they were able to make with him over the span of two weeks is remarkable and I am so happy with my decision to send him to the Balanced K9!

I can not say enough about Chuck and Luciana’s experience and knowledge in dogtraining. We sent our boy Kobe to their 3 week behavior modification program.
He had developed severe guarding issues and had a few agressive/bite incidents. Not seeing these issues when we first adopted him we were desperate to address them.
The difference we saw in 4 weeks(he had to stay an extra week due to a Covid exposure in our home) was tremendous. Learning the boundaries that he needed made him so much more calm. Which resulted in him not having that fear aggression we had been seeing. The level of obedience is night and day from when we sent him.
We continue to see progressive every day. He recently stayed for a week boarding. Not only did we feel at ease knowing how well he would be taken care, we also knew all of his progress would be reinforced. He also couldn’t wait to see them!
Chuck and Luciana are experienced dog trainers whose expertise and skills set is unmatched. What really stands out is how much they love what they do and that is evident in the progress we have seen in our Kobe!
We will forever be grateful and can’t recommend them enough!

I am so grateful for having the opportunity to work with Luciana and Chuck. Our 4 year old border collie came to them for the 6-week Intensive Behavior Modification Program, with extreme resource guarding, fear based aggression, a general lack of discipline, and a bite history. It speaks to Chuck and Luciana's expertise and experience in dog training that they would be willing to accept a dog with this rap sheet.
During his 6-week program, Luciana and Chuck provided weekly updates and videos showing our dog's progress. These videos showed how methodical and diligent the staff were in correcting our dogs behavior.
When our dog came back home, we saw an immense improvement in his calmness and obedience, and we couldn't be more pleased with how much progress he's made. Chuck and Luciana also gave us detailed instructions on how to maintain the progress our dog's made and help improve further. Luciana and Chuck are professionals at what they do, and their passion and talent for dog training is exemplified with how our dog turned out.
