Excellent rooms and sleeping layout , My daughter and young Grandson had privacy upstairs with own beds and ensuite plus TV while I was downstairs , very comfortable. Only a couple of steps literally onto the beachfront and beautiful walk around the Lake. Cascades Motel is Pet friendly and it was a blessing to bring my dog who thoroughly enjoys his many easily accessible walks.

Stayed at cascades a few times, both under the old and new ownership. The new owners are putting in the effort to tidy the place up although covid's slowed this. It's cleaner than it used to be and already has some improvements. Beds are good, rooms are a good size for families, close to food and nice to be on the lake.

Handy location. Average motel possibly 3stars or less. Only changed towels daily no cleaning or making beds in 3 days we stayed.

The hosts Hospitality was exceptional And the "modest" rooms far exceeded my expectations However, I'm sure my room was haunted, strange noises in the night as if someone was standing in the bath, I got out of bed to check, but alas, everything was in its place, Only to hear similar noises hours later The ghost seemed very upset by my lack of sleeping attire. The room was very tidy, but dirty wine glasses were in the sink on my arival

Absolutely fantastic location being right on the Taupo lake front and easy access to the new and improved lake front track. Family unit very spacious and reasonably price, also having no others on the floor above makes a big difference. We have been using the family units even though it's only two of us. Decor a little dated but always clean and tidy. There is a 'slightly' heated pool and spa pool, but in the heat of summer, there is easy access to couple of little beach area on the lake front just around the corner.

Throughly enjoyed our stay at Cascades. Plenty of room to store boat and other toys you may bring on your action packed holiday. Unit was very open for the 5 of us and not much privacy but still does not effect my reveiw on this place. Would 10/10 recxomend this place for anyone passing through taupo

A wonderful dog friendly motel right on the lake front. The rooms were super clean, quality sheets and pillows. Really quite, had no noise between rooms or street noise. Our room had a Small kitchenette + lounge + queen bed and main bathroom is downstairs, single bed + double upstairs with on suite toilet. Small courtyard off the main room, free wifi. The room decor has a retro 80,s timber vibe which we loved. Some parts are a looking a little tired but it didn’t matter because this motel has so many wins in other ways. Lastly the owners were really friendly, welcoming couple. We would definitely stay again. Loved it.

Very handy to the lake, nice beach front and access to the cycle track. Heated pool is nice. Two living areas with ensuites, clean , a little dated. Rear courtyard with BBQ is small but good. Great heat pump. Overall, we would go back again. Well priced.

Great to have a dog friendly option. Comfortable bed and plenty of space. Kitchen very basic, bathroom a bit tired and they didn't service our room properly, twice. The pool was way too cold to use. Felt a bit ripped off. The guy running the place was very friendly though so maybe just teething problems during a busy time.

Great place especially for families. Easy accesss to the lake. The heated pool was awesome for our little girl. New managers are very friendly and helpful. They have little kids and completely understand what we were looking for. We will definitely go back there.

Cannot recommend this beautiful motel enough! Fantastic location, facilities, clean and more than we could have asked for. The owners are incredibly kind and accommodating. I left Xmas gifts in the fridge and they have offered to hold them for me until we make our return trip and couldn't have been more pleasant about it. This will definitely be our regular holiday destination!

If you want excellent service this is the place to be. Accommodating, helpful and caring. The room was clean tidy and not too small with a small kitchenette for cooking. No bright lights outside, or noisey, and parking outside our room. Highly recommended.

Just an overnight stay, sadly. Cascade Lakefront says it all, a great location, right on the waters' edge. We didn't have a view from our room, but it was spotless, with ensuites upstairs & downstairs. That was ideal for us. We had a small private dining area outside & nothing was too much trouble for the owners. Really hope to be back.

Well appointed spacious rooms, in a good location, with deep heated outdoor pool. The little things make the difference. Friendly staff prepared to go the extra mile, and finally in 2021 a motel who do WiFi properly, good speed, no caps and up to date smart tvs.

Fantastic establishment! Our room was super clean with a private courtyard. Fabulous location, just a few meters walk to the lake. The staff & owners were friendly, knowlegable and serviced our room perfectly. Fully recommend Cascades! Looking forward to returning 🌟🌟

Thank you so much for our weekend, I had booked a studio but when this lovely man found out it was for our 40th wedding anniversary he upgraded us to the honeymoon suite! The room was huge, beautiful and clean, so quiet, fantastic location, thank you for making our occassion even more memorable, what a lovely, lovely man!

Beautiful hospitality, the view from our courtyard is truly magnificent of the stunning Lake Taupo, the room, beds and spa bath are perfect. Two steps to the lake front pathway and I was off on a morning walk in this stunning scenery. Absolutely worth stopping here to relax!!

Many thanks for a very comfortable stay at Cascades recently. I am unable to find fault with anything. The unit was very clean, well appointed and roomy, it was private and the little sitting deck was a bonus. The site had lovely views of the Lake and with the western orientation the unit was warm and bright. The staff/owners were friendly, welcoming and very accommodating with all questions and requests answered readily and with a laugh which added to the relaxing atmosphere, helped by the warm clean pool and the closeness to the Lake and beach. I would recommend Cascades to anyone and hopefully will revisit myself again soon.

Lovely managers!!! Clean and close to Taupo shopping hub. It's right on the lake, nice to go for an evening stroll whether it's a short or long stroll. The apartment is very spacious and nice bbq area with seats to eat on a summer's night.

Situated on the lake and a 3km stroll to town it was great to have a pet friendly place to stay. Would definitely stay again.

Although the motel was well priced and had a great location, it was definitely a bit on the scruffy side and in need of a refurbish. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the cleaning staff efficient and also friendly. We found the soundproofing between floors was awful, with the people upstairs sounding like a herd of elephants. Soundproofing between units on the downstairs area where we were was fine with no problems. Noise from the swimming pool was slightly annoying at times, but Road noise was almost 0. There were a number of scuff marks and other signs of very obvious wear and tear all around the unit we were in. It was great to have a cooktop even though it was very old. There was no air conditioning in the unit so we imagine it would be quite unbearably hot in there during the summer. The bed was comfortable enough, and the blackout curtains worked quite well. The carpets were of an acceptable quality, but the wooden floor in the kitchen and bathroom definitely showing signs of age and not having been cleaned properly for a while. The internet work very well, much to my pleasant surprise, and the TV has a wide range of channels including Sky as well as Netflix, Amazon, YouTube and Lightbox. However, only the Netflix account was logged in. The Amazon and other accounts required a person's personal login in order to work. Overall our stay was quite good apart from the fairly regular upstairs noise we could hear in the morning and evening. There are plenty of nice walks to be had either direction from the motel which yield some very nice photo opportunities in the early morning and late evening. For the price, it's worth the stay but I wouldn't recommend a summer stay due to the lack of air conditioning. I would also recommend an upstairs unit not a downstairs one to avoid the issue we had with hearing a lot of noise through the floors.

Great, family-friendly motel with an awesome location - right on lakefront. Perfect for early morning walk round lake or picnics on the lakefront. Nice spacious clean rooms with good set up for our family of four. New cedar spa pool smelt good! I’d definitely go back.

Although this property is a little dated it makes up for this -- location, close but not too close to town , right on the lake front with gorgeous views. The private sunny garden like courtyard complete with twinkling fairy lights at night adds to the ambience. Swim in the lake or outdoor pool. Spotlessly clean with charming hosts who have thought of everything.

Lovely place. And very accommodating owners. Unfortunately we had been double booked but the owners went out of their way to make up for it and were very helpful and nice about it. The views are amazing and the facilities were great. Access to the beach is right outside the front door which makes it even better. Would absolutely love to stay here again.

Spent a weekend recently at Cascades. We so loved the ambiance and quietness with the lake just about on our doorstep. Very private courtyard with your own bbq. Comfortable new bed, good heating, very clean and views of lake from dining, lounge and bed. Big TV. Good to watch the ABs beat France. Bike hire and kayaking too. 10 min walk round lake to a great cafe. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this motel. Cherry

So comfortable and right on the lake! Two-story with spa upstairs in master bedroom, everything you need downstairs: bedroom, stocked kitchen with tools (bring your own food), nice patio with walking path to lake. Very quiet and relaxing. We only stayed two nights - but next time we'll solpend more time! Service is also excellent. 5+ ***** :)

Booked directly with better value price than offered on hotel booking sites (when mentioned I had looked at booking sites prices) Great location for a stroll along the lake walk way. Only issue for me was they had blinds on windows in units and not curtains which for me (a light sleeper) I was woken early than I wanted too

A great place to stay at and only a couple of meters from the Lake. The staff were friendly and very helpeful. Awesome pool and we were able to hire a kayak and paddle board on site.

Cascades were excellent to deal with right from booking a big family holiday over a year out to accommodating many of our needs. The location at the lake, with a pool, spa, trampoline and BBQ area are great for families with kids. There were portacots, highchairs and stair gates available for use. The owners were helpful and even lent us an HDML cable to watch the boxing over Easter. A fabulous place for our family get together and well recommended for families.

Excellent stay. It's right next to the lake, and dog friendly. We had a charming mezzanine room which was very clean, right next to the pool and spa, so easy for the kids. We'll be back.

A perfect venue for a couple and a single lady, plus a small dog. The rooms are totally self catering with good equipment to cook up any type of meal. Soooo clean and tidy. Thank you Cascades for providing excellent accommodation for us we had a very pleasant stay.

Everything is okay. Inner wall ( reverse U shape ) of toilet was very dirty. Room too bright in the morning, can't shut the roof's curtain.....

Great place to stay. The kids thought the room was amazing and wanted to stay in Taupo for the duration of the trip. Good for groups of. Good location by the lake and only a short drive into Taupo. Thank you we would definately return and was highly rated by our overseas friend.

Stay was just so awesome. Room was spacious and beautiful with all the facilities and amenities that one always look for during the stay. They have private spa bath tubs in room with separate shower area. Heated pools and spa for all guests also. They have private access to lake taupo. We will definitely come back and stay again in same property. At the end Hosts were just amazing people, very warm and welcoming. Free Unlimited WiFi.

Very comfortable accommodation. Had a studio suite. Loved the spa bath! Well equipped kitchen area. Great location. Direct access to lake and the 10kms of shared footpath around lake. Great for walking or cycling. 3kms from town but there are restaurants close by. Very friendly/helpful hosts. Excellent value for money!

I really love this place.. one of the best motels in Taupo.. friendly staff.. neat and tiidy rooms. I enjoyed my stay in there.. 20 meters to lake beach.. noticed new carpet there.. believe they changed that recently.. little backyard with barbeque is really good.. fridge in our room was little old. They have plenty of parking space.. not far from city centre.. highly recommend this place..

We stayed in the large family suite and it was great. Paul superb host. I did not like the fact that the breakfast wasn't included if you wanted breakfast it cost you I can't remember how much but I think it's a non negotiable not having breakfast when you pay $166 night.

Clean and well supplied, friendly reception and very helpful, offering portage of our luggage. Assistance with trip to town for a meal most appreciated. Now we know the system would definitely recommend. 4 and a half stars

Good and comfortable rooms Affordable price Lake side

If you have children and are heading to Taupo for a holiday, I seriously recommend booking into Cascades, this place is child friendly, pools, trampoline and then pop them in the spa for a bit at the end of the day so they then go to sleep and you can relax on the patio with a wine or two. Robyn is a lovely host, sorry I can't remember Robyn's husbands name, but they are delightful obliging people, very friendly and helpful. My son left his pillow in the room and Robyn rang me before I had left Taupo, so I was able to collect before leaving the area. You won't be disappointed by staying here. Can't wait to go back again.

By far the cleanest and best motel I've been to in my life. I would even call it a motel, it's more like a deluxe hotel. Really nice clean and quite rooms, 2 stories with 2 bathrooms, kitchen, 2 TV's and three beds and not to mention free WiFi.. There is also a heated pool and a spa available to use whenever you want! I highly recommend coming here. Keep it up!

I have now stayed at this establishment a number of times and every time a person appreciates even more the setting and scenery. Room was nice and cosyspa amazingamazing views. We slept like a pair of logs and were ready and refreshed for the last leg of our trip home.

We have stayed in almost all the rooms and they all have a great standard and are always clean. Friendly staff with great hospitality. Easy location on the main road, but very quiet. There is so much accommodation to choose from in Taupo but we were extremely happy to have stayed here and would be happy to return in the future.

We had a great time at this motel. The accommodation was just what we needed for our three young children and in a great location. Swimming pool, bikes and trampoline are an added bonus.

Although we felt at first that a customer service issue was not addressed adequately which affected our experience, the owner has since emailed and sufficiently addressed the concerns. I think this was big of them. The room was clean and well presented.

We have stayed here twice in 2018. Really awesome location with lake access. Friendly staff, unlimited internet access, spa, smart TV with sky, parking, comfy beds and rooms. Best of all it is pet friendly motel. Must stay when you are in Taupo.

Recently I was upgraded to this delightful oasis in the center of Taupo. The service was awesome and it was very clean. My fiance was really craving some soup, and the gentle*** at reception called a bunch of restaurants for us to help find a good bowl of soup.

I stay here regularly for work, awesome hospitality, clean and tidy rooms plus the breakfasts are the best in Taupo. My favourite being the porridge with plums and almonds yum .

I was only able to stay one night in this magically positioned motel The hosts were professional and friendly Facilities meet all my needs Very comfortable The motel is beside lake with beautiful views looking across to the magnificent mountains on the Southside The sunset is amazing taking your breath away I went for a walk along easily accessible path adjacent to the lake to cafe for a coffee You could walk into the town from here All these feelings to take in A joy to be there Thank you Jann

Not a real lake view and you have to pay for the dishes to be washed other than that very nice and clean apartments and very nice staff, which gave us great recommendations for dinner.
