Lisa and her teams run very structured and organised training courses for puppies. The 8 week puppy course has laid a good foundation for a win-win relationship between us and our puppy. It is a full on course but has made us possible to think from our puppy’s perspective and come up with a choice of creative solutions. Wish we had the same equivalent course made available for our human children!

Adele is fabulous! She is knowledgeable, friendly and was more than happy to make sure all our questions were answered and concerns were addressed. We felt personally supported and appreciated the extra effort she went to with fitting a harness and making sure our pup was set up for success. This was a very safe, fun and professionally run class and we came out of it feeling like it was money well spent. Thanks, Adele!

Sit Happens is a right place if you are looking for puppy training classes. We are first time GSD puppy parents and have learned the right techniques to set our puppy for success. Lisa and her team has immense knowledge on how to train your dog without harming them. She also explained the behaviours and how to deal with them. All our questions were answered patiently in every class. Bheem has done very well and could only socialise because of these classes. We highly recommend Lisa and her training classes.

Lisa is a great advocate for rewards based training. Her quest for knowledge and keeping up to date with the latest dog training research is paramount and shows in her commitment to providing the best service. As a trainer I would not hesitate to recommend Lisa for any dog owner or industry professional.

It has taken us a very long time to get around to writing this review, I think because neither of us felt we could adequately express in words how life-changing our Sit Happens experience has been. From puppy classes to in-home visits, Lisa and Adele have helped us so much and been so encouraging in our journey with Piper. We absolutely would not have the relationship we have with her today without their input, genuine care and willingness to go the extra mile to help Piper be her best self. Vikki’s support and encouragement on the phone is also greatly appreciated. We really can’t thank you all enough. Whether you have a designer pup or an SPCA special like Piper, the best thing you can do for yourselves and your dog is to book an appointment with Sit Happens. These amazing, kind and generous people REALLY know their stuff!

Great course, nice balance of training technique education for the humans and socialization for the puppies. The actual training is very well designed and teaches you how to build the relationship with your dog step by step. We had to miss a couple of classes due to COVID isolation and the sit happens team went out of their way to arrange high quality catch up classes over zoom. Overall, it's not that my dog is now trained, but more than i know how to train her. Thanks sit happens team!

Sit Happens is a fabulous puppy school with knowledgeable and caring tutors. The follow up videos from each class and the information they share is invaluable. I love that my whole family were able to attend classes, ensuring consistency across our approaches. The puppy socialisation time was terrific for Mojo, we all loved meeting the other puppies and families.

Katya and Rebecca from Sit Happens were amazing and taught us so many skills without overwhelming us and our puppy Fred. The Q & A's we got access to are referred to weekly by us - and cover anything and everything! The in person classes were great not only for learning training tips, but for puppy socialisation. After each session we were sent an email reminding us of what we had learnt, along with videos demonstrating the training if we could not remember. We are about to book the Level 2 course - looking forward to it!

Through Lisa's 8 week Puppy Fun and Focus class you gain access to weekly videos on every possible thing you could find yourself wondering how to teach your pup, ranging from toilet training through to commands like drop it and sit (to name a few). Then, in small classes of no more than 5 pups, Lisa goes through every command starting off easy and building to the more complex ones whilst always ensuring we aren't setting our pups up to fail. Lisa gives each pup and family individual 1:1 time throughout the class to make sure every pup is on the road to success. In just 8 weeks Bobo and I have learned more than we ever thought we would. Lisa is a walking dog encyclopaedia who's passion and love for dogs really shows in the classes. Thank you Lisa!

Puppy training with these guys is such a great experience! We took the Puppy Fun and Focus 8 week course with Katya as our trainer and we couldn't be more thrilled. She went above and beyond with us, often staying until late to help us with our 1001 questions about Willow (our beautiful, albeit slightly crazy border collie). We also attended their Puppy Socialization class several times and although our girl was not easy to deal with these guys knew what to do and made her SO much more confident and playful around other dogs. We couldn't be more grateful to the people at Sit Happens, our Willow is such a happier dog now and we couldn't have done it without them. Lisa and her team know their stuff and explain things in a way that's easy to understand. Highly recommended!

Both of my dogs have been through training with Sit Happens and I'm really happy with the outcome. The curriculum focuses on teaching you how to train your dog, and provides a solid foundation that you can build on to teach your dog almost anything. You can tell they really care about the dogs, and want you to be the best owner you can be. We had Lisa and Kate as teachers, both of whom are extremely kind, thoughtful, and knowledgeable. Lisa was especially patient with my first dog who was the boisterous troublemaker of the class. She helped me teach the dog to be calm and settled, and made sure we had space to work through the exercises without distracting the other dogs. Kate was really good at adapting some of the play-based exercises for my second dog who is not really into playing. Thanks for all your help, Sit Happens team!

Gotta say that expectations were rock-bottom and reservations were at an all-time high due to a bad experience puppy class from another provider with our other dog Mollie (Border Collie - red) a few years back. However, the SitHappens classes really surprised us and we found them very informative, both at the class and with the videos. Katya was super-engaging, and Lisa was like the voice of reason that kept resonating from the videos. We also learnt from the other members of the class... things to do and things not to do! Biskit (Bolder Collie - sable) loved it and is way better for it! Thanks for the effort put into this. We really noticed it and appreciate it.

Lisa's puppy & socialisation classes are worth every penny! We've experienced other dog training classes in Christchurch in the past and Lisa's was by far the best. Lisa is so passionate about dogs and we love that she uses force free training methods. We also love the group dog walks that Lisa offers as an alternative to day care. Our dog is so much happier attending the group walks thanks to Lisa and her team.

I was so nervous about getting my new puppy. I had dogs before but none that were specifically mine. She is now so well behaved and I have the tools and skills I need to continue training her in the future. Thanks so much!

Really enjoyed this 8 week programme, not only for the benifit of our pup but for what it was able to teach both us and our children. The team at sit happens have clearly spent the time and resourse to ensure a detailed programme is delivered that maximises the outcomes for both parties. The behind the sceenes support was fantastic also, every imaginable scenario you could have with your puppy has literature/videos to support you through that behaviour. Would 100% reccomend to anyone!

Have just ordered and received a Perfect Fit harness. Excellent service and really love the harness as it's easily adjustable to fit the dog and has both front and back clip on rings. Thanks so much.

We have just finished the 8 week puppy fun & focus class with Katya, who was a fantastic teacher. She was always patient, happy to answer questions and gave us plenty of tips to make sure our golden retriever had the best chance to succeed. We also paid for an extra at-home session, which Katya and Lisa both came to, to deal with some resource guarding issues our puppy had. Following the advice and exercises they gave us, we now have no issues and can confidently walk up to our puppy to take anything off him that he shouldn't have, without getting growled or snapped at.

My puppy Bowie and I did the 8 week puppy classes and I absolutely loved them! Or trainer Katya did an incredible job of giving everyone her attention and making sure that everyone was keeping up and understanding the tasks. She was also able to give amazing one on one advice when my puppy wasn't understanding my commands and I really appreciate all of her feedback and enthusiasm! I will 100% be recommending her and Sit happens to any of my friends who get puppies in the future! Thanks so much for all of your time!

We learned a lot from Adele - and so did our puppy, Stella! We found the Puppy Fun and Focus class to be really good, and enjoyed going along each Saturday. Adele was brilliant - never stuck for an answer, and always smiling and upbeat. All of the dogs seemed to love her on sight. We highly recommend Adele and Sit Happens for new puppy owners :-)

Puppy training with Lisa was a positive experience for us and our puppy and we learnt loads of useful techniques which we will continue to build upon. The one-on-one advice given in a group setting was really helpful, this part of the training provided an opportunity for us to listen to other people's concerns and to Lisa's thoughtful advice on each issue, this was a great learning experience. We highly recommend Lisa's training to other puppy owners.

I can't give enough praise over our 8 week puppy class with Katya! We have a black lab and she has made such a positive transformation over the past 8 weeks. The guidance, encouragement, patience, and kindness of Katya (and the substitute trainers) kept me motivated when it seemed like Lakota would never "get it.". Katya is very intuitive with each puppy and it was obvious she loves what she does. I'm pretty sure Lakota was more excited to see her than getting to play with the other puppies! Such an awesome puppy training experience. Katya was knowledgeable, open, honest and made the classes fun and exciting for owners and puppies. Being able to ask questions was very helpful, as often most of us were going through similar stages. Lisa is great! My pup and I completed the Puppy Fun and Focus class over 8 weeks and we learned heaps! Lisa definitely knows what she's talking about, is friendly, helpful, supportive and always willing to answer questions both during class and in between. I was convinced that my dog would always need to be on a lead due to her high prey drive and zero recall. We now enjoy no lead time, especially down the beach (the very place she was the worst) due to a high trust relationship. Our trainer Adele taught us so much in such a short time, and I am extremely grateful. Finally, I have the tools and techniques to be confident, and the best part is the improvement in our relationship (between my dog and me). Truly life-changing and highly recommended. My dog is super happy now, and so am I!

Lisa and Charlene have been great Odin and he has thoroughly enjoyed his time in the Puppy Fun and Focus Level 1 class. His progress throughout the course has been incredible to watch. The Team at Sit Happens are fantastic. Having a puppy can be daunting and these guys really know their stuff. From training to socialisation, they have it so well organised and make everything so much easier which makes life with puppy enjoyable. I really recommend their home visit service for when setting up with a new puppy. It was worth the investment and their advice certainly helps everything to work. We have just completed the level 1 puppy fun and focus course. Lisa was amazing! She had answers for any questions we had, and helpful tips for lots of practical things we wouldn’t otherwise have thought of. The class was very good value for money and all of the resources given such as weekly videos have been of great use and will continue to be. We have used Lisa for puppy training and have also recently used her to help with some behavioural issues. She is very understanding and focusses on what is best for the dog. Highly recommended.

We went to sit happens because we adopted a second chance rescue dog and we wanted to make sure we were doing things right. After going to puppy class with eli and seeing how much we gained from going we decided to go to lead training class as well. Lisa has an amazing gift with animals and can get Eli to do things that we take along time to get him to even try. If you are looking at training for you fur baby definitely give sit happens a try you will be amazed.

I had done puppy class with my previous dog in a vet clinic and we didn't learn a lot and my dog got a big fright by one of the bigger puppies and has always been a bit scared of big dogs since. In Lisa's puppy class there were only 4 dogs and everything was super organised to make sure all puppies took away the training and safe socialisation. The best bit was how Lisa patiently answered all our questions every week.

Lisa and her team are really patient and explain the pup training methods in easy to understand ways. No question is too silly and the most important thing is my puppy is turning into a good dog!

Selected Sit Happens because of the great reviews, but it didn't work for me and my (very outgoing) puppy. Little to no interaction with other dogs so certainly not ideal if socialisation is a goal.They advised me that it is not a franchise operation, but it works very much in that style, access to limitless videos, merchandise etc. and tightly formatted programme. Probably works well for first time dog owners. Have sourced alternative training which teaches all the good stuff alongside robust puppy interaction, and I go home with a happy pup who's had fun while learning how to be a well mannered dog.

Lisa run a great puppy training course, you will get great tips, training and socialization for your puppy. Our Chocolate Labrador is well trained and socialized!

Lisa is a wealth of knowledge all things dog related and always available for questions which is amazing!
