James is an excellent instructor. He is kind, responsive, has a great sense of humour. His teaching style helps to quickly learn how to drive and overcome fears. If I hadn’t taken practice lessons with James I wouldn’t have passed the test for the first try. Highly recommend!

James was very helpful in teaching me the skills needed to pass my restricted test. His way of teaching makes is enjoyable and he makes it easy to remember all the driving skills. I only needed two sessions with him and i was able to pass my test. James puts you at ease when driving and he delivers good conversations during the sessions

Thank you to my tutor James. He is very patient, professional and good motivator. I was terrified of driving. James helped me to conquer this fear. Taught me to drive safely and correctly. Gave me knowledge and I successfully passed my driving test and I got my restricted licence. Highly recommend James as a diving instructor.

James is the reason I passed my overseas license conversion test today. After failing my first test I googled a driving coach in Whanganui and found James. I was so lucky to find him. He taught me to calm down and to drive safely. I acquired some different driving habits partly due to different traffic rules and road conditions overseas. James did not only teach me the right way to drive safely, he repeated the situation several times to reinforce the right way so it can become a new habit. He also helped me to analyse the reason why I drove that way, so once the mindset was changed I would not make same mistakes in future. Two hour lessons are very efficient. My first lesson with James was only two weeks ago. Now my driving skills and confidence improved a lot, and today I passed the conversion test. James is the best driving instructor, I would highly recommend him for anyone going to sit for the overseas license conversion test.

Excel Driver Training is very good, and James is an excellent instructor. His 2 hour lessons are the best way to learn how to drive, as by the end of the 2 hour lesson you have managed to learn so many driving skills which prepare you to sit your restricted license test. James is a very good driving instructor and would highly recommend him for any learner driver who wants to learn to drive properly, as the skills he teaches you sets you up for success in the restricted test and also gives you key skills that you will use every time you drive. Best driving instructor I have ever had and would recommend to anyone. The 2 hour lessons are a very good idea and help to create mental stamina. Very professional also.

James is the reason I passed my Restricted Driving test this morning!! Honestly, such an awesome instructor with a really calming presense partnered with a great sense of humor. I'm 28yo, have had my learners for 11+yrs, and I was terrified to sit this test and that's why I put it off for so long... I've had bad past experience with other driving instructors, but James was recommended to me by a friend and I'm soooo glad he was! James never made me feel bad for making mistakes, and this helped me to learn from them to progress. James's awesome and unique methods work, and if he could help me to pass then I'm 100% sure he can help you to pass too!!! 🙌🙌🙌

James is an amazing driving instructor. He is extremely knowledgable and patient, and is also very fun to talk to which makes the lessons extremely enjoyable. He ensures that his students are confident and safe drivers. I passed my restricted driving test today - all thanks to James, and I will definitely be back when it is time to sit my full test!

James is a fantastic driving instructor! 4 months ago, despite having had my learners since 2017, I'd never spent more than 60 seconds behind the wheel of a car without having some sort of anxiety attack. Last week, I passed my restricted test on the first go! James is incredibly knowledgeable, he knows the road code inside and out, and his dual control car is great for building up confidence behind the wheel with minimal pressure. Using a great sense of humour, he consistently creates a reassuring and supportive environment that takes a lot of the pressure and anxiety out of learning to drive. He is genuinely invested in your success from the first lesson till the last, and I honestly could not recommend him enough. For anyone who is nervous about learning to drive or needs help improving their road confidence, James is absolutely the instructor for you!

James is an awesome driving instructor who I cannot rate highly enough. He is calming and he makes each lesson fun and enjoyable. The way he teaches is easy to understand, especially parallel parking. I passed my restricted test today on the first attempt and it was all thanks to James' teaching.
