I'm a professional photographer and have shot weddings at Black Barn Tarawera. Not only are the staff super accommodating and friendly but the venue itself is stunning. The views are incredible and there are so many amazing photo locations on site. Definitely would recommend The Black Barn if you're needing a wedding venue.

Stunning venue for our wedding! Shelley was so helpful in helping us pull our day together too. Everyone commented on how perfect the location as, with one of the best views in NZ. Thanks so much of having us!

What's a beautiful venue both inside and outside. Especially on a sunny day which made the wedding unforgettable. The staff were helpful. It's a quite a cold day. It will be good if there were some heating in the evening. Lots of food and too much left over. It would have been nice if we all could have taken some home instead of waste.

The Black Barn is literally one of the most stunning places we have ever been - the views are out of this world! It showcases the best NZ has to offer. We loved that there were different areas on the property for guests to move to throughout the day, and that we really could make it our own through additional styling both inside and outside. So many of our guests said it surpassed any wedding venue they had ever been to. Shelley and Glenn were so great to work with, responsive, and easy going. We cannot wait to go back and visit one day soon!

Beautiful venue. Scenery is stunning.

Stunning location, great for weddings.

Went for a friend's wedding. The main selling point was the view of the lake, which was picturesque. Guests could also wander in and out between the dining reception area and the grassy area.

Friends had a wedding here. Stunning location. Cannot rave enough how beautiful the whole venue is. The site overlooks Lake Tarawera (breathtaking!) and had a nice big outdoor area for mingling and outdoor games and also a fire pit (we roasted marshmallows) A little bit off the beaten path so you may want to consider transport options for guests. Our couple organised a bus to ferry guests to and from their accommodation (most of the guests were not local). You will also need to provide everything else - catering, booze, plates glasses etc. It was a bit of a shame the bridal party had to return very early the next day to clean up etc. Still, a great venue and had a wonderful time!

We were married at The Black Barn. It was perfect in every way with the help of Pete the Wedding Planner. Spectacular location and combining with the lodge, a great place for everyone to stay and celebrate.
