Reviews of Aston Norwood Cafe & Function Centre
K.
We visit here often but our visit yesterday wasn't up to the usual standard. I wanted to order what I had on previous visits. The waitress offered me something similar from the menu which I declined. She accepted my order and I was delivered the item on the menu with no explanation or apology. I then had to chase up my wife's tea that had not been delivered. It eventually arrived when were nearly ready to leave.
Maybe this was a one-off incident. We will go back again as it is a very convenient stop on our journey.
K.
Celebrated our wedding here. Cannot recommend highly enough. Despite wet weather the team went above and beyond to make it a fantastic memorable day. A+++++++++ Thank you!
V.
Beautiful place. No words to describe such amazing garden. Everything is magical, from the small flowers to the incredible blossoms. The cafe is wonderful with lots of food. You can go from a high tea to a dinner without disappointment. You'll be well served, see nice people, take amazing pictures, listen to the birds singing, the mirror lake among many other things.
S.
The cherry blossoms were in full bloom and it was spectacular. There are over 100 trees and all pretty. It was a sea of hues of pink interspersed with Camellias and Rhododendrons. There is about a kilometre to walk in the gardens and plenty of parking.
After visiting the gardens, we had coffee. The coffee was hot and perfect although it took a while to come.
S.
24 September 2021 full blossom on cherry trees.
Fantastic place to visit during cherry blossom season every year only September mid to end.
j.
Disappointing visit on 30 December 2021. Short staff, limited menu therefore slow inefficient service. Apologies galore but we suggested they had stated originally there would be delays. Food not cooking properly after 2 returns. On the third return no offer of free coffee or refund for the problems we will incurred. Preparation is the key no need for this sad state of affairs!
B.
Ordered fish n chip brunch. Fish was disappointing but chips, salad and coffee perfect. Beautiful setting eating outside in the sun, table could’ve done with a wipe but waitress was lovely.
G.
This garden is amazing, especially during September and October. You are going to find so many cherry blossoms, camellias and other flowers. If you want to go to the Cafe I recommend you to make a reservation :)
K.
Fabulous gardens more than anything. On a beautiful day this is an amazing place to walk in the gardens. The cafe is rather full on most good days so I assume their food is good. It's a must see place if you have half a day to spend outdoors with kids and family or friends. Very restful and beautiful.
N.
Cheese and onion scones were nice. Hot chocolate wasn't great. For a place that does high tea, the tea was mediocre.
J.
Definitely worth the price! Waking up to nature right outside the bedroom doors that open up out onto the deck. Lounge and dining area are huge! Was quite impressed with the ensuite which can be accessed from both the living area door and bedroom door!
H.
I really enjoyed having breakfast here. Good portion sizes, tasty food, great coffee and consistently helpful service. It has a boutique theme to the decor and atmosphere with smooth jazz in the background.
1.
I nice place to stop when heading out of Wellington in the initial climb up the Rimutakas. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff friendly, with WWII era French music playing. The view from the deck is most picturesque! I can heartily recommend the Ginger Kiss loaf. Delicious! The presentation if the food was good, and the cutlery was clean. A few niggles. First, the floor needed sweeping. Second, the decor feels quite haphazard and a bit messy, as though they haven't had the money to purchase the same style of chairs and tables etc. The price for a small pot of tea, a medium slice of cake and a large sausage roll was just over $20, which was passable, just a little on the high side. The tea could've been hotter, but the roll was well heated. Despite the niggles, Ashton Norwood Cafe is worth the stop, and "I'll be back”. The friendly, chatty staff add a lot to the experience. There is a toilet available but I didn't check it out.
G.
Revamp of garden area of Aston Norwood has improved venue and its variety of things to do especially if your green fingered. The cafe is still very good with great service, coffee and food.
F.
Very popular place for meal & garden visiting. Food quality & price all are reasonable. Grab one coupon is often available. Recommend to book a table or be there early. (To avoid busy crowds or disappointment )
J.
The gardens are blooming wonderful - particularly gorgeous in springtime! There's a cafe, a function centre for weddings and a nursery to wander around. Well worth the drive, just outside of Upper Hutt near Rivendell at Kaitoke.
C.
Beautiful Gardens, delicious scones.
Enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at Aston Norwood Cafe and Gardens. Owner showed us around the gardens, as we enjoyed the blooming Cherry Blossoms. Garden is larger than it seems, and we'll worth the small entry fee. Our scones and tea finished off a wonderful afternoon... Enjoy.
A.
Enjoyed wandering through the gardens. Very beautiful with all the blossoms at this time of year. Bit of a mixup with our meals in the cafe unfortunately. Two of the orders lost, but kitchen came thru and did them double-quick
R.
We are fortunate enough to visit the gardens on a bright spring day when the cherry trees are on full bloom.
No words to explain the beauty of this gardens and the mesmerizing fragrance.
We had a great afternoon walking in the gardens, listening to the birds singing and taking amazing pictures.
Staff are friendly and helpful but the cafe is rather full on most of the good days, recommend to book in advance.
J.
Really good location for a wedding or any family events. Cafe is good and a visit to the garden is a bonus, if you can pick a decent day. Would recommend.
P.
Came in for a casual lunch, was impressed by the quality of the food and service.
Looked around the conference rooms and gardens. Newly renovated and looking great. Will be back when the garden is in full bloom.
V.
The most beautiful night time experience walking through the blossom 🌸 tree's
H.
A lovely afternoon out in large, well maintained surroundings. Great food and service also. This place is popular for a reason!
S.
Celebrated a special day with family over high tea and walk in the beautiful garden. Food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. The staff was very polite, helpful and awesome. Thank you very much!
M.
Dog friendly (outside) with amazing food. Coffee could have been better, but the beautiful view more than made up for it. (Also I think we had a brand new barista)
M.
Stunning grounds . Archery and clay pigeon shooting available. Recommend
O.
Beautiful gardens, accommodation and venue centre with cafe. A high quality high tea is also available in the gorgeous ballroom setting. This place is a treat for all ages.
H.
A Pretty cafe on sh 2 before or after the rimutaka hill. We went there only want to have take away cup of coffees but ended up stay there and had coffees. I definitely go thers to explore the garden side.
B.
As a regular to a number of cafes, I have to say this one of the best I have been to. Well worth the drive. It's a real treat, with a French theme and a touch of class. Almost like entering another time period--charming, atmospheric, with lovely background music (especially the french-style, which just sets it off perfectly), very nice food and good service. Then we get on to the gardens outside. What more can you say....and what more could you want? Absolutely gorgeous--pure escapism (and much needed in this day and age). They have really done it justice. Thank you for the continued delightful dining experiences. We will be back as always!
J.
Staff were so friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough to make our stay perfect. Food was delicious and the grounds are beautiful.
s.
Very grand Cafe with high standard services provided. Enjoy the Tea and foods by the huge Japanese style garden.
J.
Great experience!
We loved the clay bird shooting!
Top 3 favorite .
Can't wait to go back .
D.
The place is lovely as the people, however it is the first time ever I have to wait more than 30 min for a cup of coffee, which arrived cold and not good.
J.
Great menu with a choice of snacks and healthy meals. Good idea to book ahead, and they do a special afternoon Tea 😋 and a lovely garden walk
J.
Excellent Fare. Relaxed. No loud music. Gentle Jazz. Excellent service. Coffee with the sweet would have been good rather than sweet first then coffees 10-25 minutes later. No biggie, just tested ones ability to resist the yummy sweets till coffee arrived. Really enjoyed the experience.
A.
Nice food, good service,beautiful garden.

ASTON NORWOOD CAFE & FUNCTION
My husband and l have been going to call in for lunch for ages coming from Masterton,
did so today, no regrets at all, the salad was moist, fresh, the panned fish was so yummy, chips were made very nice, soft to eat, lovely garlic bread, we were very happy with the service, the waiter was lovely, very polite, came back asking us if we were happy with every thing, there is cabinet food as well as menu, the time to wait was very good for the meal, the day was miserable but the cafe was lovely and warm with a fire and a heat pump.
Very spacious and clean.
The toilets were very clean to use, excellent.
Excellent parking, Excellent staff, what more could you want, not forgetting the most gorgeous gardens that surround it.
Price, you know what l am going to say, you pay for what you get, it was worth it to us.
We would definitely recommend this
ASTON NORWOOD CAFE to everyone, loved it, will be going there again in the future,
But don't take my word for it go visit this cafe for yourself.
Thankyou Louise
J.
The garden, specially the cherry blossoms are just amazing!! We had lunch but the service can be improved. We waited for a long time and had to get someone to take our orders. I requested for a small cake when I did the booking but I had to remind them when we were paying that it never arrived. They had all along so we had to just bring it home. A table number will be handy too so you can just tell the cashier when you are paying. Food is okay but if the overall service can be improved, this will become a great place for everyone.
A.
Awesome meal and great service. Couldn't hope for better.
J.
Wonderful, surprise place..new owner's who are very friendly and welcoming. Cafe-great food!! Beautiful gardens to wander..skeet shooting..and lovely chalet to stay the night.Tranquil setting..very reasonably priced..A must,to stop off and or stay.
A.
I went to Aston Norwood for a breakfast, and ordered pancakes... They were the yummiest I ever had. Staff is very polite and supportive and environment was very homey. We went to the gardens for the walk afterwards, it was really nice. Definitely recommended.
s.
A+RECOMMENDED. My fiance and I come here each weekend for brunch and it never fails to impress and satisfy our appetites. A great range on offer on the menu for everyone or just grab a smaller item from the food cabinet. Excellent coffee and an amazing array of teas ranging from light sweet fruit to strong and dark. The gardens are an amazing place for an after meal walk no matter the season as each has its own wonderful merits. We plan to be married here soon because we love it so much.
L.
Amazing experience and lovely staff. A must see for all
n.
Food is tasty and worth the drive. But the service is / was not so good. Menu showed toastie and chips. But only got the toasties. Half our order arrived and had to wait an extra 10min for the rest to arrive.
M.
Had lunch there for the 4th time. A selection of food from the cabinet or order from the menu. All very nice and reasonably priced. Background music was the nicest I have heard in a restaurant.
H.
Great food and coffee here. Staff are friendly, efficient and very helpful. I will certainly be returning. Toilets are fabulous
K.
Nice staff, great food and pleasant surroundings and decor.
L.
Beautiful place to walk in the gardens and have coffee or lunch at the cafe.
H.
Beautiful late lunch. Perfectly cooked roast beef in my sandwich- really good coffee. Was able to have a leisurely lunch -- so not rushed at all.
J.
Very beautiful place with the cherry flowers. Perfect for nice pictures and a light walk.
r.
Pretty mean to be honest. Decided we'd get married there. Gonna be so awesome..
R.
Gorgeous garden, cherry blossom out at the moment, totally worth a visit
T.
Awesome spot with family. Fantastic
K.
Great food, fairly priced and lovely staff who made us feel very welcome especially Belinda and Erin.
Was very very busy as Sunday lunch always is. Would recommend booking like we did as they are so popular. Great to walk round the Kaitoke Gardens afterwards. We'll be back to see the spring cherry blossom and the rhododendrons.
R.
This cafe is well worth visiting. Friendly and efficient service with attractive and tasty menu choices. The adjacent garden nursery operates an enjoyable and interesting garden walk amongst mature gardens and trees.
K.
Fabulous place for a wedding. The gardens are beautuful
D.
OK if you're a little old lady but could do better. Coffee was terrible, service average as was food. Little Gluten Free options. Nice gardens apparently.
A.
Truly an amazing place for cherry blossoms season
J.
Wow so many trees in blossom
Lovely friendly hosts and staff
Thankyou for letting us park in your carpark overnight in our motorhome
Your cafe is fantastic
K.
Delicious food & lovely staff. Was very busy, being a public holiday but they coped marvellously and with a smile 😊
Good bargains at the garden centre but the real highlight is strolling through the gardens. Picture postcard scenes of breathtaking beauty around each corner with everything in bloom & friendly ducks chatting to us & each other. A wonderful place!
P.
First time at this cafe, driven past many times.
Group of four, three from the brunch menu, one had the roast. nobody disappointed. Will have to go back to sample other gems from the menu.
Service friendly and prompt, prices reasonable.
Three of the group had dessert and this is what necessitated the full walk around the gardens. Impressive, and I would imagine even more so in summer. Look out for the ducks. spotted kereru in the trees.
Finished of the visit in the nursery, again prices reasonable. Definetily coming back.
C.
A fabulous lunch in a beautiful setting. I'll certainly be back!
S.
Enjoyed the setting and scenery of the cafe. Staff were friendly and ready to help where possible. Food was okay. In consensus with other reviews, there seems to be a long wait for food to be served after ordering (60+ mins). Additionally, requests made well in advance of our function were not adhered too and/or discussed prior to rearranging. I can appreciate multiple functions making this a challenging night for staff. However, it seems as if the establishment was under prepared for the bookings. Would definitely return for lunch, but not for a function.
C.
Beautiful food for a great price. $10 for 2 eggs, 4 streaks of bacon and 2 thick peices of lovely toasted sour dough. The atmosphere is family friendly and quite homey. Coffee was one of the best I've ever been served. The staff take pride in their work and it truly shows.
Definitely recommend if you are passing by.
C.
My partner and I loved coming here for Valentines day. Staff were lovely, there were free chocolates to celebrate (who can fault that?), the food was adorable and delicious, the tea was nice and the gardens were a great way to finish off. Thank you for the experience, always wanted to do a high tea :)
A.
We purchased a voucher through Groupon, so it was our first time there. It was not the high tea I imagined. It was basically a cup of tea with some scones. But that was alright. The tea was good. Although the staff had no clue to help people who have no clue like us. They are either not answering question at all or answer with grumpy look. The ducks in the garden though were very very friendly.
M.
Nice tea rooms and beautiful gardens to enjoy, well worth a stop.
D.
It's a very popular cafe with a great selection of food & drinks. Great coffee too. Huge gardens, beautifully landscaped, ever changing. Lovely place.
We went for breakfast today as our car club had chosen Aston Norwood to host our monthly Rodder's Breakfast.
The order for me and my husband's breakfast had vanished off their system. I'd asked twice with wait staff and also at the counter where our order (that we'd already paid for) was, as people at the next table arrived after us and were already eating.
Finally, 1 hour after we ordered, our breakfasts arrived, along with profuse apologies and a kind offer of 2 free pieces of cake. Then the manager came & apologised personally. She gave us 2 bottles (BBQ sauce & chocolate orange dessert sauce) and two vouchers for a free coffee too.
We're glad so many of our friends were still in the carpark, chatting and laughing, after we finally got to enjoy our delicious breakfasts.
M.
Would rate higher if the path to the lower garden got fixed. It was steep, rutted and stony and not suitable for wedding guests to walk on in high heel shoes or good shoes ov any description. Some of our wedding guests broke shoes and almost fell over trying to manoeuvre around the pot holes. The inside venue is a little tired but the catering was nice and the wait staff attentive. Nice cocktails too.
L.
What a gorgeous cafe! The service was outstanding! The best muffins I have ever tasted! Gorgeous venues for functions too! Can't wait to see the gardens on a sunny day. An absolute hidden gem! Can't fault it at all. Will definitely be back.
P.
Amazing. Food was delicious.Good service. The only thing is it would be nice to have a normal sausage for breakfast instead of spicy. 3 of us tried the spicy sausage which we shared & didn't like it.
S.
We were two weeks late for the cherry blossoms.. But there are still other flowers to see and a walk in the park is always good for the soul.. This park is huge.. Took my husband and I more than two hours to cover every inch and of course, stop and admire the blooming flowers..
I.
What a fabulous place. The cafe food was delicious and the gardens very pretty and so well laid out. The Rhododendrons were in blossom in late October and so were a riot of colour.
h.
My happy place and the best place in Wellington. Everything is very good
The garden, the view from the balcony, the food and the staff..
I highly recommend it
C.
We had a great high tea with a group of friends. We were on a beautifully set circular table, the service was prompt and friendly, the food was delicious. They had an awesome selection of tea flavours.
There are also extensive gardens which looked beautiful (but we were unable to enjoy as it was pouring with rain).
K.
The gardens are lovely. We went to have high tea and the variety was not the high. Also they delivered wrong items. But husband was still hungry so he ordered sausage roll..... And it got delivered to the wrong table! Haha. So seems staff doesn't know their menu and table numbers. But it's pleasant atmosphere there still. :)
T.
Serene place. Good food. Parking available. Not noisy.
K.
Loved the entire experience! The staff were very friendly and nice, the atmosphere was lovely and the food(and coffee) was absolutely delicious. I also had a great time clay shooting. As a first time shooter, I was given very precise, clear instructions and the staff was very patient. Will definitely visit again if I'm in Wellington!
P.
Today we had a wonderful visit. The service was great, the staff very personable. High tea was very nice served on lovely white table linen by the window with a lovely outlook. The coffee was good and the prices seemed very reasonable. The garden walk was very pleasant, the buxus and yew trees are impressive. Looking forward to our next visit.
L.
10 out of 10 came here for a conference for work and their function rooms are so beautiful makes you feel like you're at home. Amazing gardens at the back to go walk through at lunchtimes. Cafe here for casual visits. So peaceful and the food is so delicious and quality
P.
Stunning, should be more explored as tourist destination in the Wellington region.
R.
You start with a great range of food, and after enjoying that, you get to walk around a magnificent garden and enjoy the flowers, get followed by ducks, and maybe even ducklings, and you might even see an eel.
Great weather helps, but it is a special place.
V.
Beautiful gardens, friendly ducks and bees, lovely staff, popular cafe.
Generous fluffy!!!
Wonder how much the tasty french pastries cost?
T.
Beautiful wedding venue! Belinda & staff we’re great to deal with and the day was incredible from start to finish! Fantastic gardens for the ceremony & photos and there were activities to keep the guests amused while waiting for the bridal party. I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue for weddings or any other event.
J.
This place is special, keen eager staff willing to help, good range of teas an coffee, plenty of parking and cater for functions, beautiful gardens and garden centre also available, good dining experience.
G.
This was my second visit here today and it was worthy of a review. The first trip was with a friend and her kids and we had the high tea, it was great and the wait staff were super friendly. The second trip was myself and my partner with our child, we had bought the treatme deal for clay shooting a burger and a beer for 2 for Farther’s Day. The gentleman who took it was awesome! We all had a laugh and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves thank you. The burgers were tasty and we definitely needed the walk through the gardens to work it off. These gardens are beautiful! The cherry blossoms were out, filled with photo opportunities. We will be back and we will be telling our friends. Took us 20 minutes to get there from Lower Hutt and it was an easy drive. Not far away yet like a different world. A warm fire, a homely relaxed atmosphere, thank you it was just what we needed.
T.
Called last minute to book a table for 6 adults. Was set up with a lovely table outside in the sun. Food was amazing and reasonably price, with fast service and friendly staff. Would have given them 5 stars but after breakfast we decided to go for a wander of the beautiful grounds and was told we had to pay. A little cheeky considering we were paying customers and just spent around $150 on breakfast.
J.
My new favourite cafe. Great breakfast. Service is best I've had in years.
P.
Excellent food. Great service. Lovely surroundings.
S.
Well, if you after gardens - five stars as for us. Food, again hard to judge. Cant say anything bad, but would not spend time on travel for just food. Hightea experience, yet again, personally wasn't impressed at all, but overall, cant say it was bad, just not for me i guess.
E.
We stayed here 2 nights and had a wonderful time, the chalets and gardens are beautiful and food is excellent. The owners were wonderful and went out of their way to provide us dinner after the cafe had closed, and brekkie early one morning before opening - despite them being busy with an event that weekend!
J.
Called in for lunch on way home from Wairarapa.
The place was buzzing but the staff were still very friendly and attentive.
Had the Sunday roast, the beef was slow cooked and tender.
R.
Cafe trying to be French pavement cafe but sadly misses the boat. Décor very old hat, clean but uninspiring. Not a great selection of cabinet food but what there OK. Excellent parking. Didn't go into garden but spring blossom trees beautiful.
S.
Lovely place, just would like to see vegan options available please . We came here as we were staying at an Airbnb at Emerald Hill for my sons 21st birthday. He is vegan so was only able to eat a vegan chocolate muffin while the rest of us enjoyed a lovely , full breakfast . Apart from this , happy with the food and service.
D.
Great food, great service and a mint price. $10 for prity much a full breakfast. Good coffee also. Nice sunny friendly environment for a party or group of 2 with rustic charm. We will be back.
R.
Good food at reasonable prices with good coffee too. Friendly staff. Nice garden centre to look through too.
C.
I had a lovely Lamb Casserole on
Mash, with a very pleasant glass of red wine all very reasonably priced!! The cafe atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are friendly and helpful. A good place to stop and re-energize before tackling the hill.
G.
Very nice cafe. Decor a bit dated but nice. Food good and the $10 breakfast a really good bargain. Worth stopping en route but don't think I'd make a special trip.
ف.
The high tea was lovely, the music and the place was brilliant and truly relaxing. The staff were very friendly... the garden was gorgeous... overall everything was 5 stars and would definitely recommend it for special occasions or whenever you want to relax and spoil yourself!
N.
Visited the Aston Norwood Gardens Cafe in Kaitoke (Upper Hutt) yesterday (1/3/17), on our way to Wairarapa for a coffee and a scone and a bit of a break in our drive before the Rimutakas and what a surprise!
We were welcomed by pleasant smiles from a young man and a young lady (later we found out she is the owners' daughter) and after the usual pleasantries, we ordered our coffees and our great looking, good size, cheese & onion scones. We chose to seat outside of the actual cafe, just before the walkway to the gardens as it was a superb morning; lovely coffee, tasty and fulfilling scones and truly, service with a smile! (what a change from the previous owners!)
We were so impressed that on leaving we said that we would stop again on our way back the following day for lunch. As it happened, we ended up returning home that same night to our Wellington home but we were so impressed by the friendly, yet efficient service we received plus excellent coffee and food that we chose to drive the very next day (today, 2/3/17) from Seatoun to Kaitoke for lunch ... and it was worth it!!!
We ordered the "fish & chips" plus our usual coffees but what we were served, was two perfectly fried crampted fillets of tarakihi resting on crispy potato chips over a bed of garden salad - it was a real treat!
When we expressed our appreciation of the service we received and the excellent quality of our meals, we discovered that we were actually talking to the owners of the business and then we realised ... why everything was so lovely in this new business!
Well done, Belinda and team and we wish you every success for the future because you deserve it!

Wellington
Just to add that since our first visit, we have become frequent visitors to the Cafe and have NEVER been disappointed!
From the moment we step in and right up to our departure time, we feel as if we are visiting good friends and always feeling that we would like to re-visit!
Well done Belinda and team for providing a superb environment coupled with quality in everything you do!
Nik & Katerina Zahariadis
Our first visit to Aston Norwood Cafe after our long "Lockdown" period ended and what a pleasure it was to enjoy the drive from our home to Kaitoke on a beautiful Wellington afternoon and to be welcomed to the Cafe under the latest COVID-19 rules but still very much as long-lost friends and to enjoy a superbly presented lunch for my wife and I.
It was also very encouraging and pleasant to see that all the members of the owners family were helping out to ensure top quality service at these difficult times that all of New Zealand is going through!
Thanks again Belinda & team,
Nik & Katerina Zahariadis

Fantastic lunch and cake and the coffee was delicious, such beautiful gardens and amazing friendly staff and management. Thank-you for a lovely day out. 😊🌻
C.
My friend and I visited yesterday for Devonshire Tea and a walk around the gardens using vouchers we had purchased from GrabOne - absolutely the best purchase we've made in a long time! We had such a wonderful time, the staff we just so lovely and made us feel so welcome. The venue and food was divine and the gardens are just beautiful!! We will definitely be back again - hopefully very soon!
M.
This is a great casual cafe. Very family friendly, with staff that are understanding and really thoughtful. Will return on our next trip to Kaitoke.
K.
Nice enough. $5 entry to gardens. Best to avoid when weddings or functions are on as staff under the pump and some areas unavailable.
H.
Lovely walk with the family and grandchildren through the gardens. Fabulous cherry blossoms and more rhododendrons yet to flower. Popular cafe.
V.
This location is amazing.
Food on point.
Gardens just stunning.
And staff are very nice and ready and willing to help you at any point.
Go on in today and experiance the location and good for your self. :) you will want to go back again.
C.
Lovely place to eat enjoy many times also enjoy their gardens and plant nursery
C.
Nice food and amazing gardens, yet the service was disappointing slow, with no apology given when asked how our meal was.
G.
Friendly staff, amazing food even better coffee!
B.
Was a very nice place to stop beautiful gardens
S.
Really nice staff. Good food and amazing coffee. The gardens are amazing too if you get the chance to have a look around. Very impressed :D
K.
Clay pigeon shooting and after a platter of food, great afternoon. Tutor for shooting was brilliant, explained things well and very encouraging as it was first time we did it. When we next visit our son in Wellington will be sure to do it again. Amazing cakes!
R.
Nice and cozy place. Park is really nice. View is good.
U.
Most delicious Devonshire tea! Freshly baked 3 crispy scones per serving! You could not have asked for better! Wide selection of teas! Staff super friendly and extremely helpful! Look forward to my next visit!
S.
Beautiful gardens and lovely Cafe just about 30min drive from Wellington. If you arrive on a rainy day there will be house umbrellas available for your garden walk. Best time to visit would be a couple weeks before Labour Weekend (early October) to see both cherry blossoms and rhododendrons. There are friendly eels to feed and ducks and herons to greet. We had a Devonshire tea - scones, fresh whipped cream and selection of jams - after the walk. The list of available teas was impressive, but our Rose & Vanilla and Chocolate, ginger and turmeric ones came as Dilmah teabags. If you prefer, you can order coffee instead of tea for a small extra charge.
S.
Great customer service. Food is of good variety and of excellent taste. There's shooting and archery ranges behind the cafe as well, although a booking may be required. Loved the experience though. 👍
M.
An all round enjoyable experience. Pleasant staff, good variety and quality of food in lovely surroundings. Had many repeat visits...all very enjoyable
H.
Lovely place very busy, my lunch disappointing, over cooked an dry ,had to order something else. Shame with quality,
B.
Very nice ,I suspect scones may have been yesterdays....but still very tasty ,service was friendly upon arrival which is always nice
The high tea looked awesome

Great place... Lovely staff and great food. The gardens are very nice for a walk around and some photos as well... But it is a little hilly
L.
This is the best place to buy rhododendrons, Japanese maples, beech and magnolia trees. We had excellent help from Christopher with advice and plant selection. We will definitely be back. Also the bathrooms facilities were very nice.
A.
Enjoy nature on a warm sunny day with a bottle of lemonade & fries 👌
B.
Stunning place. The gardens are so beautiful and easy to walk with the kids on every type of weather. The food at the café is good too and well priced. This is one of our fav family places to visit

A really nice cafe with beautiful gardens. Great food and coffee, scones. Perfect for an afternoon brunch. Great service and lots of smiles!
W.
Great burgers and scenic location, took a bit long to get our food(wasnt busy) and they messed up our youngest order by mistake. Service was friendly and good and seriously, burgers were incredibly tasty.
B.
Had my best friends wedding at Aston Norwood Gardens and Belinda and her team were amazing, they were so patient with us and definitley went over and above the call of duty. The food was to die for and couldn't fault the service at all, would highly recommend to anyone looking to hold an event there.
s.
Friendly customer service and awesome food..
V.
The gardens are beautiful but the food is average at best. Stick to the desserts, those are amazing.
S.
Our hosts, Belinda and Craig, were warm and welcoming as were all the staff. We wanted for nothing and the poppy chalet was comfy and pretty. The only thing missing was a TV but, to be honest, we really didn't miss it. The trivia night was a lot of fun and well organised. Our table was last but we still won a prize.
Set in the middle of the New Zealand wilderness between Trentham and Featherstone, the Aston Norwood Chalets were a delightful stay.
D.
Beautiful High Tea in lovely surroundings and friendly staff; our only criticism would be we found the owner, whilst very attentive, he was a little too familiar and his comments pertaining to one of my guests attire, unprofessional; that aside a High Tea at Aston Norwood is a must and one we'll definitely repeat.
D.
Really vibrant cafe (was fathers day) great food , enjoyed sitting out and the garden centre is lovely very helpful and informative owner . Well worth a visit
