Reviews of Lavender Abbey
Small family owned lavender farms. They have a field of gorgeous lavender, and a gift stall with a bunch of different items for sale, all of which would make great gifts. It was beautiful and peaceful. Wonderful as we got to walk around and take as many pictures as we wanted...$5 for a bunch of hand picked lavenders. What a great way to spend a warm summer day! Very picturesque! Highly recommend Lavender Abbey. They have ample parking as well.
Beautiful lavender farm where you can get a life shot. 📸📸 It is 1hr 10mins far from Wellington, $2 entry fee and $5 for a bunch of lavender. It is PYO(pick your own) system. There are a lot of bees on the lavenders but they don’t sting you unless you try to attack them first. 😊
Small fields but it's good to get some pics.
The people here are awesome 👌 👏
Such a cool thing to do and smells so nice.
People seemed to flock here. Charge at the gate, plus per bunch picked. Then they have some (rather expensive) wares to buy as well. Probably only able to make money for a short time of the year, so they take that opportunity.
Plenty of parking, well organized and the smell was incredible. All of the group felt the calming effects if being amongst the lavender. Lovely products also available to purchase.
Beautiful lavender farm and small fields 💜 and amazing people entry fee is $2
We went there and enjoyed the lavender farm so much. We don't have a car and it would be too expensive to rent one on peak season. Turned out to be doable to visit the farm on public transport from Wellington. Get the train/bus to Carterton (9.25 am on Sunday), arrive at Carterton, stroll around, have lunch. Take the 200 (Greytown) bus at 12.54 from the Carterton city centre, stop just before Dalefield Rd. Walk down to Lavender Abbey (2.8 km - about half an hour walk). Enjoy the farm before walk back to the main road. The 200 bus at 3.25 pm will take you back to Carterton city centre. Get yourself a nice dessert (you deserve it after the walk) at Wild Oats (try their choc gateux) while waiting for the train/bus at 5 pm to take you back to Wellington. Oh, don't forget to wear sun protection.
The place is few minutes away from Featherston town few minutes to drive off the main road. The owner is very friendly. You need to pay $5.00 entry fee and you can buy any lavender products on site including oil, magnesium oil body spray, soap, face and body cream and much more. We enjoyed walking around in the lavender field and took photos as well.
We had a lovely picnic and enjoyed a wonderful visit.
