Reviews of Cheeki Cherries - Dam Good Fruit PYO Cherries
Had such a fun time picking cherries yesterday! The staff were all incredibly helpful, they showed me the best technique a for picking and where the sweetest cherries were growing. The ice cream was so tasty and the owner had a great accent too. Would recommend to everyone!
An absolutely fantastic experience at Cheeki Cherries! The white and dark cherries are of outstanding quality — sweet, fresh, and bursting with flavor. We had such a great time picking our own, and we’re already looking forward to coming back for more. Highly recommended for a fun and delicious outing!
I absolutely love this orchard! There's no entry fee, and the staff is incredibly friendly. There are plenty of trees to pick from, making it a wonderful experience. However, it's disheartening to see so much waste caused by visitors. The staff works hard all year to prepare for just a few weeks of harvest, so let’s show our appreciation by being mindful and minimizing waste when picking cherries.
Lots of cherries to pick and eat. No entry fee, you just get a bucket and then pay $17/kg of cherries on your way out. Great activity for my city kids - they had lots of fun spotting ripe cherries and climbing the ladders.
great activity. full of cherries when we got there end of December. per person must get 1kg cherries. which is only $17 and the cherries are so sweet and big! we can also enjoy the cherries as many as you want for free! while picking the cherries. 4 of us bring home 7kg of cherries. not sure how that happened, but absolutely enjoy it. they provide ladder around so you can settle on a tree that produce a sweet and big cherries. they also have white cherries which is a bit more expensive and some other fruits such as plum, apricot, and nectarines. after picking, would recommend you to enjoy their real fruit icecream. they have option for yogurt icecream. very enjoyable activity. would highly recommend.
It’s approx an hours drive from queens town; kids will enjoy.
Not a big fan of cherries myself but my family goes to this place every time we stay in Cromwell. I haven’t tried one yet but I heard they taste really good. 4 stars because I haven’t tried them yet.
Great activity to do, cherries were in abundance, both red and white. It's good to get there early to avoid crowds and use of ladders. Real fruit icecream is a must
They have a minimum pick of 1kg per adult but they do allow you to sample during picking. The cherries aren't the nicest I've ever had but also not the worst.
PYO Cherries near Cromwell. This place seems to be the most popular and I can see why. Excellent friendly service, juicy sweet cherries to pick from, both red and white varieties. They also have ice cream and a kids playground. If you pick too much, you can also send it back home by courier
Cute. Owner was very friendly and so were the staff. Beautiful scenery around you and the picking of the cherries was relaxing and peaceful. Had a great time. They also have a huge 5 foot high connect four! Export grade cherries that you are allowed to pick according to the owner. Good visit, enjoyed ourselves.
This is our first stop here in Queenstown. We had a wonderful experience. The staff asked id its our first time. For me, yes. I was briefed and instructed. As i looked around while picking cherries. So many people enjoying their picking. Others are frustrated as they cant reach the sweet and ripe cherries as its normally in higher position. I never eat much fruits. I prefer skittles but i enjoyed tasting the cherries as i picked. Its a privilege to be here in Queenstown, New Zealand. They instructed everyone not to climb the trees and use the ladder. I saw someone got told off because of climbing the tree, and someone touching the fruits on display in plastic bags and got told off..imagine its like touching the bread in the supermarket whitout paying first. please don't do that anywhere. I also enjoyed tasting the different types of honey in their counter. Its very unique. The wild flowers honey is tasty must be from unique flowers in the otago region like lupins. I regret not taking one because i thought i will see the same honey products in our next destinations. Enjoyed the fruit ice cream after. Will visit again next time.
They have so many fruits here, and plenty are pick your own! We usually come here to pick cherries. They have the best cherries. Dan good fruit also has a children’s playground and the fruit is cheap, high quality and it is a good thing to do with your family. They also have the BEST Ice cream with 4 flavours you can choose from. You can also combine hr flavours.
It's so much fun to pick your own cherries and there are so many different varieties of cherries to pick. We only picked about 3kg, we wish we could have pick more. Great experience, will definitely go back.
Absolutely in love with this place. Big juicy cherries waiting to be picked all season long. Definitely recommend if in Cromwell or just passing on the way to Queenstown.
Amazing ,peaceful atmosphere and experience, loved it🥳
10/5 for sure!
Awesome staff, super friendly and will gladly chat to you about their fruits and variety. Picking cherries was amazing! It was such a hot day, but it's cool in the orchard (so definitely recommend doing this on a hot day). Staff told us where the biggest cherries were due to crowds not going to the back of the orchard to pick - and believe me, they're huge!
Icecream was soooo good! Never had an apricot icecream before, so definitely a win! Super relaxing just sitting in the orchard as well!
Hugh place for cherry and other fruits such as apricot, peach. Staffs are very kind. Real ice cream is so good and yummy. Highly recommended for cherry picking. Must try the ice cream.
Had a lovely experience ☺️. Great staff very helpful! Picked and ate the yummiest cherries.
$16per/kg no entrance fee. Very easy to find. Huge cherry trees, full of ripe cherries! Make sure you dress in comfortable clothes and shoes as you will be climbing up the ladder quite a bit. Staff could be a but more friendly..
It's a pity that there's no PRO today. Owner is nice enough to let us in to have a look in the orchard and take some pictures. Bought some cheeris too.
this is my second time at cheeki cherries and it was just as fun as the first! the different types of cherries they had were all so delicious and sweet!! it is also a very beautiful and iconic photo spot :)) the whole experience was also absolutely a blast, especially when I would find trees full of cherries to pick from :) the real fruit ice cream they have is also very sweet and yum, honestly was quite saddening after finding out that I had already unknowingly eaten the whole ice cream-
the staff/service is also so so wonderful and friendly~ ultimately made the whole atmosphere so warm and perfect. 🍒🤍
Enjoyed the cherry picking experience. Owner - Sharon was amazing and lovely. Definitely recommend to have some sweet and yummy cherries
What a lovely Cherry Orchard! Both dark and white cherries are super big and sweet, highly recommended!
Very good activity. Cherries were super fresh and you will forget how much you pluck. 1kg per person as minimum. We did over 5kg! An activity worth going for.
Awesome orchard. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Me and my friends love the cherry in the orchard. Definitely will be back again. Good work. Love it.
a very busy place with lots of people picking cherries and apricots. Mark showed us how to pick the cherries and off we went. Cherries were $17kg and apricots $6 kg.
First time visiting here. It's very enjoyable and fun activity. Variety of cherries you can pick. Staff are friendly too.
I SUPER LOVE IT!!! They have a wide range of cherry trees where you can pick as much cherries as you want. Also, one of the staff show to us his secret spot, where we get our BIG and DELICIOUS cherry!!! Awesome experience and friendly staff. We will come back again next time!
Cherry 5 stars. Grumpy old lady 1 star. She is especially rude to Asian customers (superiority complex?). Perhaps she is more suitable for picking cherry, instead of interacting with customers? The younger girls are much more interested in what they are doing & a pleasure to talk to.
Enjoyed cherry 🍒 picking with family. Very good and helpful staff. The fresh ice cream was very yummy 😋.
Well organised PYO cherries and stone fruit. They also have fruit ice cream. Yum!
Great PYO Cherries activity for weekends. You can eat cherries during the picking and pay for the take away. I paid $17/kg which is better price than before Xmas. Big size cherries with medium sweetness.
I’m traveling from United state. I came to Queenstown NZ. One of my best interest is to taste the New Zealand cherry. I found Cheeki cherry from the internet, however when I got there it is closed. I got off my rental car and walked around the outside of the shop . From the distance there is a farm trailer approaching with a dog running in front of the trailer. I waved to him and he stopped for me and kindly told me the season is over , come back next year. He was very friendly and asked me where I am coming from. I told him United state. Then he said follow me . He took me to his farm and told me there is some left over and still very good, eat and take as many you want. I’m not only got to taste cherries and make a friend . His name is Martin. Thank you Martin. I hope I spilled your name correct. I hope I can visit New Zealand again. I will definitely come visit Cheeki Cherries
pretty ken oath place, funny & kind staff! adorable little helper (shoutout to billy). not sure why there are 1 star reviews, it seems completely reasonable to guarantee that all pickers pick at least 1kg... defs cheaper than supermarkets...
so many different cherry varieties, some will be crunchier than others but all the cherries are good quality and you can tell by the taste.
Great service ordered from Cheekicherries online and they where delivered the next day.
Great place to pick your gigantic cherries if you’re willing to take your time and work hard towards reaching the tree tops. >34mm or even 40mm if you’re early enough in the season
The best hospitality. Martin made this so enjoyable for myself and kids. There is a playground and plenty of space to pick and play. Wewill be visiting them again!
You just got to know where to pick the best cherries. Not only can you find them here at Cheeki Cherries, but best caretakers of an orchard who are hospitable and approachable as well. Will definitely come back for more!
We had an awesome experience at this farm. Its a 50 minutes drive from Queenstown but worth it. During our stay for 7 days in Queenstown we went there twice as their cherries are premium export quality. The owner was very nice, gentle and accommodating. Must try their ice creams as well. They have varieties of cherries and other fruits picking. We did dark cherry and apricot picking and loved the overall experience. Highly recommended when in South Island.
Dec 2022 - We drove to Cheeki Cherries, thinking we could pick cherries. The staff very kindly informed us that their cherries were not ripe for picking yet and directed us to one of their competitors and a fruit stall where we could buy fruits. We also requested and were allowed to take a quick walk around the cherry trees and take pictures. The lady who attended to us was extremely friendly and we spotted her at the Cheeki cherries stall a few days later at the Remarkables weekend market.
Beautiful farm with a variety of cherries and a lovely experience, we felt welcomed. Martin the owner while scanning our Vaccine pass, noticed that it was my daughter’s birthday so offered her a free 🍦 of her choice.
Thank you for giving us a tip on how to carry our 🍒 safely to Auckland.
The only feed back from my end would be … if we knew the minimum limit on how much we could pluck as we were tight with our luggage, however the experience was great and would always love to support. Keep up the good work. 😄🍒🤗
The cheery here is really good quality, especially the white cherry is the best that I have ever been eaten! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Reasonable price as well.
Was lucky to be able to PYO cherries when we arrived. Only dark cherries were available, and each person must pick at least 1kg cherries, which wasn’t an issue as we had fun picking the cherries.
What an awesome experience....Was rainy but the fun must go on😊They even lend us an umbrella for us to use...Thank you big time 😊
Great fun picking your own cherries. And not just any cherries, but big fat juicy delicious cherries. ❤️
It was our first time picking cherry and it was a fun experience. I would definitely go back on our next visit.
I had a very great time here. Fun to pick my own cherries. Tasty and juicy cherries too!
Nice place 👍🏻 when we entered here staffs said we have to pick 1kg each and we’re 2 persons but we picked 1.3kg and it was okay. 15$/1kg nice price as well
Good place for white cherry and sweetheart PYO. The staff is very nice and friendly.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!! The staff are very friendly and helpful from the second you walk in and we were even shown where to find the best fruit! Fruit is amazing and much cheaper than supermarket. Delicious fresh fruit ice cream too. Would love to come back :)
Loved it. Kids enjoyed it just as much. Busy day but was helped so quickly.
Great for the young and old to experience cherry picking.
For each visitor, you are required to pick at least 1kg, which will cost you N$17. However, the owners were very kind to make concessions for big groups.
This dazzling and beautiful PYO
PYO Cherries close to Cromwell. The kindness in the service is amazing , juicy sweet cherries to pick from, both red and white varieties. They also have ice cream directly from the fruit is so delicious. Thank you for keep and care this beautiful place
We arrived just after Cheeki Cherries had closed for the season. But they allowed us to pick what had been left on the trees and we had a lovely hour eating more than we gathered. Our 4 year old even got a lift on the back of the quad bike. Very enjoyable time. The orchard owner is really friendly and helpful. 5 stars.
Friendly staff, simple process. They showed us how to pick cherries properly and pointed us in the direction of some trees with low fruit for the kids. And woah, heaps of fruit and great quality. Price was $16 a kilo for red. We had a great time.
First year that I've found white cherries to buy online. They arrived earlier than expected and were delicious. Will definitely be buying them again. Service and correspondence first class, thank you.
The hospitality and welcoming nature commenced the minute we walked in the front gates/doors and didnt stop until we had left. Martin and his team know how to look after a customer, make them feel at home and let them enjoy the experience of being at their business. A wonderful place to visit, spend some time, pick beautiful fruit and have a refreshing and mouthwatering ice cream to finish. Not much else we could have asked for, thanks for the sensational time Martin.
Highly recommended for anyone to visit, from a local to an out of NZ towner as well as any overseas visitor. Make time to get there. You won't regret it.
First time pyo cherries 🍒 experience. Very friendly and fun staff especially Kelsey and Martin. Will definitely recommend to go and see them if in Cromwell for some cherries and good banter.
Lovely day out with the family! It's far more fun than buying at the supermarket, and when we stopped at the Wanaka supermarket later that same day, cherries were almost double the price. We will definitely be back to Cheeki Cherries. The real fruit icecreams were amazing and the kids loved the lawn games (corn hole, Jenga), beanbags and wee playgrounds. Highly recommend!
A very good place for pick your own cherries. They have ladders for you to use. The cherries you pick must be at-least 1 Kg per adult and you buy it 16$. If you don't want to pick your own, you can buy from them pre-packed. They were priced 23$ premium and 10$ seconds. I've visited Jan 19. Picking cherry was good fun especially for my 7 years old boy.
Staff are friendly and some o the cherries are juicy and sweet.
Absolutely fantastic time picking delicious cherries! There was sooo much to pick, we couldn't stop ourselves! Definitely a must-do when you visit the Queenstown area. Price was reasonable and service was very friendly. May go back again before we head back home!
We always go to this place everytime we are in Queenstown. Love it!
The white cherry I have received just piror to Xmas this year was not as nice as the year before When I first started order cherry from this orchard. Two mouldy cherries was in the box, most of them was soft and dosen't taste as sweet as previous. The sizes of the cherry was smaller as well. Overall not what I was expecting an box of cherry send overnight directly from Orchard.
Delicious cherries. Martin and his team have gone out of their way to make a family friendly experience. Highly recommended.
Went there for cherry picking today. We had fun and spent good time there. Cherries were very sweet and juicy and staff were friendly and kind. The best place for PYO cherries :) opens til 5pm and takes cash and Eftpos cards.
We had a fantastic experience and great time there along with our group. Lots of cherries and different varieties are available in summer for PYO options and price is reasonable than stores. You can also buy other fresh fruits in stores
Cherry picking was brilliant! It was like a dream come true 😀You can pick different types of cherries and enjoy eating them.Once you picked the amount of cherries you wanted you can bring the cherries home. There are lots sweet ones.
Met the owner and had an enlightenment on how the Cheeki Cherries came to be! 🤣 My group had a lovely time as we were toured by the owner around the orchard and were allowed to pick and eat cherries that proved how Cromwell cherries are the best not only in NZ but also, overseas. Cheers CC! 😄
Cheekily Awesome! Had a great time picking fresh cherries at a affordable price. Martin was a great host and the staff here are super friendly. You can get honey here too!
Only 3 star because after we picked our own cherries we found that we had too much (weight) , and they wouldn't let us leave some behind before paying. Charged us $14 per kilo! Rather steep I thought, and I was right after passing through Roxburgh we found them as cheap as $6.50 per kilo. (PYO)
Had a great time picking cherries today. Loved the concept of cherrie being picked for charity. Best way to do fun and give back to the community. Go folks check this place out.
The fruit is good and the staff friendly, but when we got there we found that there was a minimum pick of 1kg per person which was not advertised on their website. This place is fine for people who want a lot of fruit, but there might be better places for people who only want a small amount of fruit.
beautiful farm, fresh fruit, nice staff
Hi...all don't miss to go and visit Cheeki Cherries...Owner is very nice and friendly. He helped me and my husband to show us around, after being closed. He also explains about the cherry growth.
Thanks helps to him.....and a good news is we can order cherries online.
Amazing orchard, yummy cherries and the owner was so lovely and showed us around the whole place! Really impressed with their facility as photographers it was a fun place to take photos there too! Thanks so much Cheeki Cherries! We will be back!
Been here three years in a row. Probably the most expensive but the best cherries and the owners are nice.
The staff members are friendly and nice. The berry ice-cream is not very recommended. Overall, it's worth trying if you want to pick your own cherries.
Best place to pick cherries in Cromwell. We pick cherries every year. This is the first year we tried Cheeki Cherries, and we will definitely be back again next year. So knowledgeable and friendly, and let us try the cherries to know which ones we wanted to pick.
