l.The upstairs dining experience was delightful, very comfortable on a cold winter evening and with delicious food. The serving staff were amazing and even asked for the Spotify playlist the music was that good. Highly recommended, certainly a return customer
J.Amazing views of the Southern Alps overlooking Lake Hawea. The store has a good variety of fresh food and takeaways, with a decent cafe. It really has it all! They even have a little bit of fishing tackle for your last minute needs :)
E.We found the place one day before we left. I wish we could find it sooner. The burger here is one of the best food we found in that trip. I think the name is "hunger buster". So fresh! So yummy!
C.Don’t underestimate this place! Looks like a kiwi bakery but this place is a gem! Incredible food, great coffee. Relaxed spot. Food is really well priced. Looks pretty standard in the cabinet but wow everything was incredibly delicious and the staff were very attentive. Totally recommend.

J.The new Hawea Store and Kitchen upstairs restaurant is great! The food was interesting, well thought out, good portion sizes and excellent vegetarian or meat options. The service was really good. Wine and beer lists had good options. The view is really nice and its kept the down to earth Hawea charm.
H.Popped in to Hawea Store in Kitchen around 7 for takeaways! Had a lovely young lady with dark hair, blue eyes serve us with a gorgeous approachable attitude & a big beautiful smile on her face! She was incredibly helpful and kind. But not too impressed with how the kitchen staff had treated her. They had scolded her for not charging us enough for extra bacon on our burgers. They were very pushy and rude about it. But overall it was 10/10 food & 10/10 service!! Just felt bad for the young lady that she had to put up with that kind of behaviour from the chefs. Definitely would be coming back again though!
T.Can be great!! Not tonight,. Not grilling burger buns means soggy burgers. Not so good. Other times they are grilled and your burgers are fantastic. Consistency is the key
C.This was a nice pit stop for us from Queenstown heading to Franz Josef.
We ordered a fish and chips and a burger and both were fantastic. It seems like you can't go wrong with fish and chips anywhere in New Zealand, and Sailz Lake Hawea Store kept it that way. The burger was very good too.
We also appreciate the kind gesture of the staffs there who helped made the fish and chips into a dine-in meal when it was supposed to be takeaway, as we were planning to have our lunch in the store.
This kind of thoughtful gesture is what makes a place shine.
The flat white I ordered is amongst the best I have had; a nice surprise find, the coffee was well-balanced.
Definitely would recommend you making a stop here if you're passing by.

B.Travelling the south island for two weeks now and this has been our favourite little coffee stop thus far! Food is sensational, simple but done extremely well! The hospitality can't be beat! Friendly staff, very warm and welcoming :) Ben & Bec
B.Our first meal at the restaurant was a wonderfuly memorable experience. There were few other diners present, so the place was quiet and relaxed. The decor is very cafe, but beyond that everything was 5 star. The selection of beers is excellent, with some outstanding Wanaka brews worth trying. The wine list is diverse, and we enjoyed a delicious red. Our young waitress was pleasant, attentive and very helpful throughout our meal, and deserves high praise. The huge bowl of seafood chowder was excellent, whilst the lamb rump and beef were perfectly cooked, served with well presented and inventive accompaniments, and very generous in size. Passionfruit cheesecake to finish the meal ended with another winner. The entire experience was first rate, and the cost very reasonable considering the quality of the meal and service. Next time we cross the ditch, we'll be back for more.
s.I had the eggs Benedict with bacon and it was really lovely couldn't fault it. My partner had the omelette and really it. Only thing I could fault was the muffins average, but maybe our expectations were too high after the superb breakfast.

G.I went in there today - into the General Store part - not the upstairs resturant.
I ordered a lamb burger from the very pleasant young lady serving there today. The Lamb Burger was absolutely the best value for money buger I have had for many years. I would have expected to pay considerably more for such a very good burger at any other place.
I will definitely be spreading the word about the burgers from this place and i wish I could have gotten the name of the lady serving myself and the mate i was with as i feel i owe her a bit of an apology - myself and the other fella had just come out of the hills from 5 days hunting and we probably looked and definitely smelled somewhat awful. Despite that she served with a smile and as stated earlier - the burger was brilliant.
I thought the art of making a decent burger was gone these days - but this store has kept its value!!
F.We stopped on our way through for drinks and ice cream. It is amazing to me that such a beautiful place is so calm. We enjoyed reading the paper while waiting. The drinks were quite good.

T.Lake Hawea Sailz is a crucial store for the community and has been run perfectly by Liz and Dave for years. I am aware management has since changed and I am beyond happy to see and hear the standards haven't dropped.
The food is beyond what you would expect from a small town store but it is. the burgers are homemade-dad style but in the best way possible, toppings aren't held back like most places and one scope of chips could serve a small family.
The supplies aren't left to dust over and local veggies etc are sourced and sold here.
Also they give back, food scraps and left overs aren't thrown away but given to local animals etc.
You wouldn't think that you could have such pride for a dairy but as my first place of work at 14 to going back now it hasn't faulted in service and perfect Kiwi Culture

E.Coffee good but food very hit and miss. Had pumpkin soup once and it was watery and horrible. Didnt eat it. Then had scrambled eggs another time and it was lovely. Sandwiches are usually a good bet.

A.This is a great little store which has it all, a convenience store, liquor store, takeaway and cafe. Staff are personable and friendly, the meals either at the cafe or takeaway are the best in the town, fully recommend there burger menu as they tasted fantastic.

S.Come for the supersized Tip Top icecream scoops. A single scoop is easily a double elsewhere. The convenience store has a good range of items and there's some hot food available as well. We took a 15 min drive from Wanaka just to get the ice-cream.
e.Excellent service, wonderful affordable meal, with a lovely view from the upstairs deck. It was so good we got takeaways the next day and I have yet to find such a good pizza anywhere else-i recommend the texan chicken.
