A.Best vegan raw cake (mermaid cake) and tumeric latte i ever had! Such a nice and cozy atmosphere, lovely service and wonderful meal! You can also find a bit of groceries, organic, zero waste and diy related. So glad we walked in and i'll definitly come back if i get the chance to come to whangarei again! Thank you so much to provide vegan options, very appreciated!

The staff is awesome! So friendly, open and caring.
After few hours I was there a lovely lady (member of staff) came over and asked me if I was alright, because I did not eat much and she would be happy to give me something to eat and she wanted to pay for it. Sooooo sweet! That was really a surprise! Thanks for that again! :o)

Z.Enjoy this understated cafe as it respects the use of using no animal products, meats. The coffee was delicious with the use of non dairy milk. I was impressed when we discovered what this little cafe was all about tucked in the mall. Highly recommend anyone who wants to support no animal cruelty practices come and try their delicious food. Their bread is also amazing and can be purchased. Amazing pure foods.

I really love their hot chocolate with their own produced almond milk. The coffee was also lovely. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Worth to visit and grab something from this place if you're in Whangarei.

T.Best vegan food in New Zealand! Ingredients are always fresh and extremely delicious. I love the raw sandwich. Sadly the raw cakes don’t survive a road trip and have to be eaten quickly. Keep up the great work

M.Typically I can eat any foods with no issues, but I have a 3 month old who has a dairy intolerance and I've had to give up dairy. It usually sucks going to a cafe as while many places cater for gluten free there aren't usually dairy free food options. I was so excited to be able to choose anything from the cabinet at the powerplant! And everything looked delicious! Will definitely be back. Yum!
H.We are so lucky to have this lovely cafe and shop in Whangarei. Being vegan is not always easy if you want to eat out , and having somewhere where you can have any of the food and it's all delicious is just brilliant. My non vegan friends have loved the food too. Great range of products in the shop. Friendly service, convenient, what more could one ask?
C.I will be the 1st to admit that I'm not the biggest fan of vegetarian food. Don't get me wrong, I love healthy; Even more than healthy, I love tasty!! What an incredible surprise to have found both healthy AND tasty!
My Son was having his 4th birthday last month. I had outsourced most if the food because with 2 kids, that was the easiest path. I had planned to make "rice crispy treats" to make sure one of my Son's Mates with dietary restrictions could have a treat at the party, only to learn that my recipe WASN'T gluten/sugar free despite initially being told it was. Gah.
In a panic, I called the local cupcake shop hoping they would have sugar free/gluten free options. Nope. Nothing. BUT, they did suggest Power Plant and for that I am grateful.
I called. Spoke to Mark, and despite being the day before the party he helped coordinate a tasty platter of gluten free sandwiches and tasty sweets that were a hit with EVERYONE at the party who tried them! Being a bit dubious, I tried some myself....wow!! It WAS tasty!! AND healthy!
I am looking forward to making it in and having a full meal there soon because they totally exceeded my expectations for my Son's birthday! Great food! Awesome customer service! And healthy for me and my Family! We need more places like this in Whangarei!!!
G.It's FANTASTIC that Whangarei finally has a completely vegan food place, and we really loved the tasty Thai spicy soup and the Mexican thing from the cabinet (and the side salad we ordered with it)... both tasted absolutely exquisite and we walked out feeling very happy indeed. It's a pleasant space though a pity it's in an arcade so little natural light. The owner was very pleasant and seemed genuinely interested in what we thought of the food. The sweets looked INCREDIBLE, especially the raw slices, and we're super-keen to go back and try them. It was disappointing however to discover that the menu items were unavailable on week days, and that there was nothing really 'meal-sized' available. As we travel across from Dargaville and always have a big day in Whangarei, we got hungry again fast. I don't want to sound negative, because this place really is a treasure, but I hope one day they get a new space with a kitchen that can cope with washing dishes and don't have to use compostible paper plates. And I hope that one day they decide to do real coffee, as well. Perhaps they could create a point of difference by having fresh organic filter coffee with special paper drips. But anyway, bravo!
K.The best vegan food I have ever had!! I have a severe soy and gluten allergy which can make being vegan hard but power plant makes the most amazing tasty food without gluten and soy!! I am not used to being able to choose from so many delicious looking foods!! The staff were amazing and the service was second to none. Also, their range of vegan and eco friendly products are great and makes it easy to get special vegan foods like jackfruit without having to hunt them down online!!

Yummy herbal teas and Kōkako coffee. The cafe also sells a huge range of edible products and fresh produce, as well as goodies that are good for the earth (think reusable everything). They also host workshops and special events so keep an eye on their social media.
The team at Powerplant are masters at creating delicious foods. The staff are all so lovely and are happy to recommend something scrumptious to eat if you're not quite sure. I wish I lived closer so I could come more often!
