S.Power outage in St Arnaud yesterday. Happy to see store still open and eftpos machine up and running. Good range of goods. Fresh veg, sandwiches and general supplies available. Great to see an alcohol chiller stocked well! Fuel, food and alcohol..what more does a girl need!!!
k.Friendly staff, delicious pies, chips, toasted sandwiches, coffee and milkshakes, as well as a great range of grocery items, beer and wine. We even found chain oil for our bikes. Mo and the team were wonderfully friendly when our family stayed in St Arnaud in November and January. We ate like kings every day.
J.We bought our hiking lunch from here. Sandwiches were ok. Muffins were a disappointment - stale and flavourless. Perhaps the sullen guy on the counter was sad because he knew what was coming for us. Best to stick to the packaged goods if you shop here.
M.Friendly staff good coffee. Great selection of pies, sandwiches and cakes. Elaines cafe the breakfast is s great way to start the day. Eat inside or there is a large area outside as well. Groceries and fuel here too. Fish and chip shop next door only open Fridays.
L.We were very thirsty and hungry when we arrived from our long trip. We were delighted with the toasted pineapple/cheese/ham toasted Sammy,with chips and all washed down with a late double shot for her and strawberry milkshake for him.
K.What a wonderful experience! My friends and I were low on gas, and relieved to fill up. But then we stayed for over an hour: ate delicious sandwiches and loaded fries, soup, and iced coffee and hot tea. I even bought a possum hat and scarf as the weather is turning quite cold. It is actually one of my favorite stops on our trip so far. 💕
S.Lovely little cafe with great range of cakes, and goodies and surprisingly good choice of loose leaf teas - definitely worth breaking your journey here.
M.We came to camp completely unprepared, and they supplied all the goods. Groceries drinks and meals, saved our lives 🙏
N.Watched a dog across the road take a dump. Then the owner didn't even pick it up. Nice place otherwise.
j.This is the only petrol station in St Arnaud, and also the only place to buy a limited selection of sundries in this town. There's a little cafe inside with pies, sandwiches, etc.
M.Fantastic place to stop by for coffee or food. Staff were incredibly nice with my husband. Even though they were already closed, they let him buy food and even helped him finding a place nearby which offered late (but nice) dinner.
K.The food was such a treat after a long 8 days hiking! The staff were initially accommodating but seemed reluctant to have hikers there. One staff member said it was OK to use the sockets to charge a phone, they then stated we needed to take our phone out and we got the feeling they wanted us to leave (even suggesting we were lying about initially getting permission to charge our phone). While I can understand small communities can get sick of hikers coming through, we calculated that we collectively spent over $300 there. To be treated as a pest when we are paying customers is pretty disappointing
K.There is a little cafe attached and we stopped in around 9AM for a breakfast sandwich. They were freshly cooked and I was blown away at how good it was considering it’s from a gas station. Bagel, egg, bacon, cheese, onion, tomato, and hashbrown on it. Unbelievable, definitely worth the stop!
J.Get Elaine’s breakfast sandwich! The one with all the fixin’s: egg, bacon, tomato, onion and hash browns. We showed up at 9 and they were fresh. Probably the best breakfast in town.
C.Delicious steak and cheese pie! Great pasty to meat ratio, didn’t taste too fatty. Prices of other items were a bit steep but that’s to be expected.
k.Friendly country store and cafe with fuel stop. Great coffee, breakfast and lunches plus pies and cabinet food. Takeaways next door on a Friday. Beer wine and spirits available along with fresh vegetables. V large range of grocery stock. Outside dining in summer.
K.Handy shop for the town. Has food, groceries, alcohol, a cafe, outdoor and indoor seating, toilets and a small book swap area. Staff are friendly and the cafe sells pies, sandwiches, cakes, teas, coffees and milkshakes. Food is a bit pricey but what you'd expect from a town situated away from big cities.
M.I am discusted that someone would put a battery in a muffin. For a reason only known to the person who did this. I have worked for Elaine and she is a honest hard working lady. And this woman who has claimed to have found a battery in a muffin has caused a lot of damage to these honest hard working people. In all the years Elaine has cooked at the Alpine Lodge. Had her own cafe that she built up from scratch at St arnaud. And now the shop. She has Never had any food hygiene issues. I for one will back them to the hilt. Good luck Elaine.
M.Best steak pie I've ever eaten (sorry no picture, maybe best time, will definitely pop in again). Store is well-stocked with friendly helpful staff.

A.AWESOME SERVICE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, CAFE STAFF IS FRIENDLY. SHOP SHELVES LOOK MUCH BETTER THAN BEFORE. HAD EVERYTHING AVAILABLE
K.A humble corner selling food in the general store. Small bowl of chips for 5 bucks is cooked upon ordering, piping hot and taste great :))
