B. G.Beautiful resort. Delicious food. The service was friendly and helpful, but unfortunately very slow. For the price, I would have expected at least 3-ply toilet paper in our room, and the ability to have two hot showers running concurrently would have made a big difference! One person flushed the toilet during the night and the noisy plumbing could be heard in all three bedrooms.
L. P.A wonderful setting. When the weather fine it's perfect for golfing. The accommodation is top class. The restaurant over time has undergone many changes. Sadly, I found the menu limited and pricey. I used to visit on Sundays when there was a jazz band, a full menu and many people. (A few years ago). Now over time along with Covid, the restaurant is not as good as it was. But just my opinion.
B. M.Great varied layout with beautiful scenery. Excellent fair challenge with generous landing areas off the tee. Some water hazards to test your accuracy. Well tended fairways and greens. Highly recommended.
C. S.My stay at Terrace Downs resort was amazing. We were met by a very very friendly manager, Stephen who checked us in to our villa overlooking the 18th fairway. Superb views. We had a large spacious apartment and it was very coastal.
Our package included our accommodation, an evening meal which was delicious (3 courses with wine and port), continental breakfast and golf with a cart.
We had superb customer service throughout our stay. Very friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be returning and several friends have said they will visit Terrace Downs.

B. O.I could happily live here. Rooms/villas are beautiful, spacious and well appointed. Staff were friendly and attentive, and responsive to the needs of disabled clientele. Food was tasty and well presented, but there was room for improvement as beef undercooked and pulled pork was too dry (I think reheated or under a heat lamp too long). All in all recommended place. Small matters for improvement cannot outweigh the many positives.

B. H.Wow the view from from the cafe is amazing. Went for Saturday lunch with family. Rate the food although the menu is a little narrow. 3 of us had the mac an cheese with the pork over lay, yum yum yum Good wine list, choice of beers a bit limited. Wait staff were lovely, when you saw them. The wait time for menus entrees and mains were poor. 20 minutes to get a drink. Yes I would go again as the service can only improve. Oh and it didn't look that busy
s. s.Beautiful quiet Villa located half way between my Hutt and Christchurch. Some lived in residents. Restaurant is super busy because this is the only restaurant within 30m drive. The wait on food can be a bit long despite their effort to co-ordinate arrivals and dine in for their guests to deliver quality services and food. Rooms are spacious with spa bath. Great place for a weekend gateway or family trip.

Was a fabulous sunny windless day but a cooler atmosphere out of the sun. The restaurant was warm and the food and service excellent.
I strongly recommend the Cassoulet on the lunch menu; it has a beautiful flavour and is quite substantial. All great value.

V. H.Spectacular location with a large, comfortable and clean room with amazing views. I hadn’t realised that there were full kitchen facilities available - next time will bring a few snacks to enjoy on the deck but don’t miss out on eating at the restaurant, the food is simply stunning. Also, the staff we encountered were all extremely helpful and friendly - this can’t be underestimated in importance - it really made all the difference.
Well worth coming out for a couple of nights of R&R.
J. N.My wife and I stayed for 3 nights. We have stayed before but the resort is now under new management. Every staff member we dealt with were particularly pleasant and welcoming...noticeably so and really appreciated. The golf was great and the evening meal of Canterbury lamb and pork can only be described as exceptional and 5 stars. The meal was personally delivered by the chef which was a lovely novel approach and I cannot spectacular highly enough of our entire experience. Fantastic. Many thanks

The dinners at night were excellent. The steak & lamb loins were cooked so good. Compliments to the chef. The staff were so friendly & welcoming. I have stayed at Terrace Downs several times under previous ownership but it is much improved now under the new ownership. Keep up the good work. Will be back. Golf course is in excellent condition. If you prefer to stay for longer, you can book in a villa for your stay . It is an awesome place to unwind, relax and enjoy golf. Lovely place.

M. O.Great spot. Friendly people. Really well laid out course which is a lot of fun. When we played the greens were rough, but they'd just had a lot of rain and were struggling to get decent growth on them. But they gave us half price green fees so all good. Thoroughly recommend if you're in the area or passing through.

B. B.Glorious location close to the mountains makes for spectacular views on clear days. Villa accommodation was cosy, clean and comfortable. Function food was generally good and fresh. Standard pot coffee was pretty ordinary, though espresso options were nice.
T. P.Absolutely beautiful meal in a great venue, I can see why this is so popular for weddings. I had the pork entree, duck main and creme brulee. Food was fabulous, service was attentive and friendly. This might be our new Christmas traditional.
J. S.There aren’t many places in the world where you can have a round of golf, play a game of rugby and get married with a majestic snow capped mountain in the background. Oh, and they do a good hot chocolate too.

T. L.Fantastic views. Facilities were awesome just a couple of things let it down though. Microwave didn't work and gas fire not working in one teams house and in the other teams house there were no electric blankets or heaters in the bedrooms. On a -5 night that was noticeable. But other than that the houses were very luxurious. Probably out my budget personally but for our team building night away it was perfect.

A.Beautiful views and a lovely outdoor option. The salmon was overcooked though, and rather tiny portion (could be due to the overcooking). They do have a well curated, concise wine list.
j. p.Stunning place and incredible views. The heating in our room was great which was needed as it was around - 5°C outside. Be aware that there is no reception after certain hours so no one will pick up your calls. We tried to out the WiFi code as it wasn't written down anywhere in the room as we expected and call all available numbers on the land-line phone: reception, room service, conceirge, none of which picked up. It was around 9pm however. Otherwise a great stay.
N. H.Most of the staff were just lovely, i ordered streamed juicy prawns and when it arrived they were tiny little shrimp from a bag.. they were happy to replace it with another option off the menu... the Salmon was very average... expected allot better from such a beautiful place as Terrace Downs

Although the food was not good at all, at the restaurant and for room service. I think the place really needs to get this under control I could make better at home. And the fire gas heater didn’t work.
J. R.Several times we have ended up in here after skiing, with a mug of hot chocolate and some snacks. The view is incredible. Plus, the buffet on Sundays is quite nice too, and fairly priced.
M.Comfy 2 night stay in one of the apartments then Mothers Day breaking most enjoyable would go again for sure.
T. M.Playing to a niche market of the wealthy overseas tourist Terrace downs seems to struggle to maintain the quality of service and experience often found in high class resort locations.
Without a regular flow of customers the staff lack the finesse that there price demands. Beautiful locations, comfortable and well appointed accommodations, just manage your expectations of food and service.
G. B.Great place to have lunch with friends. Fantastic view of the mountains right there so close you could touch them. Staff are friendly and nothing was a problem just dropping in without a reservation.
L. M.We bought the His & Hers package and did the archery and clay shooting activity, which was brilliant fun; Neil is a very good instructor. Unfortunately the villa did not meet our expectations. The first thing that hit us when we opened the door was a fowl cooking odour of what smelt like fried sausages that lingered our entire stay. Stunning scenery, but the interior is a bit dated looking and therefore not worth the expensive price tag.

The activity afternoon - archery, golf targets, two types of shotgun (clay target) shooting, gumboot tossing and target soccer were brilliant. This all followed by a sumptious christmas dinner which rounded our day off magnificently.

I was taken for a High Tea today by my son. I have had High Teas in the UK & Canada, the Terrace Downs version is up there with the best. They even allowed us to have flat white coffees!
We had so much food, we took the excess pastries home!
