Reviews of Hagley Golf Club
Great 12 hole course, can make you a little nervous if you have a slice on some holes with footpaths but great city course with great prices! You can play 18 holes with some greens having two flags. Good balance course for all levels
Went in with mixed expectations and was blown away with the quality of the greens. Great price having a student discount on at $15, went on a club day and although it was busy the man at the desk was very helpful. Would recommend especially for someone looking to start the illustrious journey that is golf
Community golf club, good rating, challenging course, friendly, relaxed sociable environment and people.
Great little course, just what you need for a few hours exercise. Great value for money, buy a concession card and save 20%. A great job done by volunteer staff.
Super friendly people and a great deal. 2 x 12 hole fees, hire clubs, balls, tees and a trolley for $80 NZD.
The course was in excellent condition.
Girl in pro shop walks out with earphones in and barely helpful, very little chat. Course needs work but is playable. Don't expect fancy hire clubs by any means but they ought to be cleaned at least. I understand it's a **very** public course with heavy traffic even from non-golfers and doesn't warrant heavy investment but given its history I expected better.
12 hole course, good maintenance
Nice course. Lots of trees so a bit tricky.
Not the most enjoyable experience as we arrived to be behind a group of 10 with only a few sets of clubs. Was told we could go in front but they were drinking and had started to tee off. Was about to walk ahead to 2 so could play rest of holes in order but a member advised to go off 10. In hindsight a mistake as after 3 holes we got back to 1 only for same group to be standing in green of 1st hole. This meant we were zig zagging around finding holes to play without a big wait.Course itself is pretty decent with good greens and can tell well looked after. Bit nerve wracking with cycling and footpath along some holes. Have been making my way through a list of the many courses available in the Christchurch and surrounding areas so happy to have ticked this course of the list.
Great friendly golf club with a fun, challenging course in the heart of the city.
Classic central city scenic reserve. Acres of lush Botanic gardens and festive plantings, cafes restaurant, museum, fountains, statues and sculptures. The tranquil meandering Avon river with ducks and trout, lakes, water pools, bridges, endless tree covered walkways birds and more. Children's play and paddling area, ice cream shop, vast shaded lawns, towering trees and picnic spots, boat hire and public golf course. Where else but Christchurch 'The Garden City'
putted a fair share of holes in ones. very nice greenery, nice staff too. no crocs in the ponds. flipped the caddy once or twice, my bad! heard some really loud noises, was told to leave along with everyone else. heard sirens, saw a bald guy, maybe 5'8 leave a buidling with a black stick. dunno what that was about, looked kinda in a hurry. smashed his car window. poor dude, probably forgot his keys. pretty well built guy, deffo lifts. :)
I'm not a golfer so I don't know about the quality of the fields or the difficulty, but the people is nice and helpful, and facilities are very good as well. Location is superb, at least if you happen to work at the city center.
Nice place.come and join us
Hagley is beautiful. Such a stunning jewel in Christchurch's crown. I didn't do more than a hole in my lunch break!
Great course, challenging, competitive 18 holes, friendlyenvironment, reasonably priced green fees, food and drinks.
Nice course in reasonable condition for its public location and time of year. Can't beat the Wednesday special price of $15.
It is located within the park itself. It was pretty good experience for me. But as this is run by the voluntary workers i think the course quality was not very good.
Great course, exceeded my expectations. Excellent value. Very well maintained.
It’s a good challenge for a normal golfer, nice fairways, good people!
Course is quite good greens not up to scratch though.
The golf course improved a lot. People are friendly, close to city center.
Great course to play and a Friendly bunch of members.
Lose your ball in the leaves but it's so convenient to play!
A great local club to play golf after work in the summer with friends
Very friendly course great for high handicappers
Found some free golf clubs in a bush
Has improved, with fairways being maintained better
I'm not into golf but I've seen a lot of happy golfers there.
Nice play. Bit confusing layout and poles.
Course was busy but a friendly atmosphere in the clubhouse.
A nice golf course with some tricky, skinny holes. Greens and fairways are well kept and play well. The surroundings are beautiful being in a public park. We found that this fact didn't deter from a great golf course and a great game of golf. The pro shop staff were frendly and attentive with very responsible gree fees, a great place for a game if you are visiting the city of Christchurch.
Great fun and in the central city!😁
