Extreme Edge Rock Climbing was excellent fun and challenging. It had been 3+ years since our last try (only 2nd time) and we had been looking forward to doing it again. The great team led us through a refresher on belaying and we were set free. I started on and easy climb and took turns with my wife doing the belaying. No one got dropped, so the refresher worked! It was a great time and their facilities and staff are excellent. Recommended.

This place is incredible. There is a playground when the kids get tired of climbing. It's the kind of playground I've been wanting to take my kids to for the past few years. There are lots of nooks and crannies to hide and have fun in. Since the place is mainly about rock climbing, the playground never seems to be too busy but just busy enough to be fun. The rock climbing is perfect for first timers and advanced climbers.

Great Rock climbing place for kids and adults. The largest in NZ the kids have ahuge play area with slides and everything was a climbing wall. Its not cheap but its a great experience for the whole family. We will be back.

Absolutely awesome experience today! Lots of different climbing routes that you can do. From easy to very challenging ones. There is one for everybody! Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. They really want you to be there and want you to have a great time. I totally recommend going for the belay classes. It is a very comprehensive 30-minute class so you can enjoy the belay climbing courses. Absolutely loved this. Only thing is to make sure to come early. It gets packed very quickly and parking could be a problem.

Great place to climb at. Plenty of top rope options as well as lead routes. A few auto belays on the normal rock climbing walls too. Most auto belays are for kids though. The latest Boulder addition is great for warm ups or a solo workout too. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Between pregnancy, recovering after giving birth and Covid, it has been quite a while since I last went to Extreme Edge and it really meant a lot of me to be able to take time out of being a mother and just focus on climbing walls! I appreciate that the staffs wore masks and the vaccine pass was still checked, and I also thank the staff member who gave me tips on how to get to the top of a wall that I was on at the time. I love that I pretty much had the bright and colorful children walls to myself and although I did not make it to the top of any wall, it felt great to have gone from thinking that I will not be able to climb any walls to very nearly being on the top of the Skyscraper wall in around 45 minutes. My wrists are sore as I type this and I don’t know if I will be able to carry my baby tomorrow but my heart is full! Thanks again

Fantastic place for veteran and novice climbers. The staff are very helpful and they have a variety of walls for all skill levels. That said their difficulty rating for some a not always 100% accurate. Prices are also very reasonable, $25 allows to climb for an entire day. You can even leave and come back. Definitely worth a visit. I personally recommend their belay climbing walls. But you'll need to attend one of their free belay lessons which happen every hour.

It's hard not to be impressed. Kids love the different climbs on the novelty walls. The passes are not cheap, but last the day. Can even leave and come back - which you need if making a day of it, as you can't buy real food there (only packaged snacks).

Took my daughter here for her birthday and as always it was an excellent experience. The staff are friendly and welcoming, they instructed our group on how to use the equipment in an easy to understand way. Really good value for money, I would say 2 hours is enough here as our group of children were getting tired. Will definately come back!

Fantastic venue for all ages and fitness. This gigantic complex offers walls for kids as little as 3 year old up to those professional athletes climbing negatives. It has many rooms for parties and heaps of video games, including the old school pinball. In the very back, there this new area where kids not only climb, but also slide and go around small houses and hideouts. Worth going back anytime.

Great place to bring the children there. The instructors were helpful, brief and clear with their safety instruction. Many different featured climb walls for all levels, well-labelled with easy, medium or difficult levels. Saw many adults and experienced climbers attempting expert levels. A special area for the younger children which under 5yo kids could attempt. The playground was awesome too. Great if the kids wanted a break from climbing. No time limit once entrance fees was paid. Well equipped with toilets, lockers and party rooms. Adequate and easy parkings. Will definitely return.

Great place for kids and adults. Can get a bit hot inside the warehouse like building so carry some water etc. So many climbing options you won't be disappointed. Also has adventure cove, place for small kids to run around a maze of really cool caves and slides etc.

Our kids had a ball here from the 7, 9 and 11 year old to our 20 year old student. The staff were super helpful and great with the kids. They did hourly training on belaying so I could help the adults climb the more challenging walls that didn't auto-belay. Everyone had a great time and we stayed for about 3 hours.

Fantastic climbing centre. There are challenges for all level, from little tots to more experienced climbers. All walls have torque controlled safety ropes, which allows for young climbers to gain experience through making mistakes and for any slips on the older ones. The facility is busy, very busy so be prepared to wait for some walls. There is a shop and a soft play area, so if you're struggling for something to do with the kids, consider taking them for an afternoon out. For birthday parties this place is perfect. Be aware that anyone under the age of 14 years old will need to be supervised.

This place is just absolutely amazing. So many different climbs, and even a kids area with their own climbs and a massive really awesome playground. Kids had an amazing time! Staff are approachable and very informative and very friendly yet professional. There is always a staff member around walking through so we can ask for help if need be. The only thing is that the line at the entry to pay can be a long wait - waited 30minutes in the queue just to buy some drinks. Will definitely be back!

I have been here twice with friends. I had to get induction done and trained to be on belay and climb. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and patient. The experience has been good. They rent shoes and harnesses too. And there’s a quite a bit of different stuff for everyone there, depending on their level of climbing experience. Such a cool, quirky and exciting place to visit. I have never been to such an interactive rock climbing place ever. The adventure side of this place is so cool! Little houses (hobbiton), slides, arcade games and more. This is a really cool place to take the kids (or yourself) to have fun and unleash your inner child. You pay for a day pass which is helpful if you want to return the same day (meaning more bang for your buck). I highly recommend this place to everyone.

It was my two year old daughter's first time rock climbing today. Saturday is much more full than weekdays but it's worth it. The jungle gym 'adventure land' area in the back is huge and has more auto repel for kids and beginners. Spent a whole day here for less than $20. I hope she will always remember this as a place where she learned to be brave.

I really enjoy climbing here! I think it's the biggest climbing gym in Auckland and they change up the routes quite often so there's always some variety. They have mostly top rope and lead climbing routes but also a bouldering area and clip n climb for auto belay. There's also a kids only area and lots of space for birthday parties. The staff are really friendly and they sell snacks as well as coffee. There's also a small selection of gear for sale.

Fantastic place for people of all ages and climbing skills. The staff are so professional, friendly and encouraging, especially for those who have never climbed before. They ensure that people of all ages, including parents of the children climbing,fully understand and observe and maintain all the safety requirements before being, allowed to climb. Highly recommended for adults and children who have slight fears about climbing, My 6 year old could not and would not climb very high until Ishowed him how safe he was when he realized that he was safe from not falling and hurting himself. After that small realization he climbed to the top then jumped out and down in stages and really enjoyed himself. We stayed for 3 hours.

Very nice place to visit by yourself or with your little ones. Standard fees on the entrance, but you can spend there as much time as you want to. Many obstacles for kids and for advanced adults too. They also have school programs, which may be handy for those parents who's keen on it. They also have adult classes too.

Great place for all ages, whether hosting a party or casually climbing with friends or making climbing your sport and training regularly, this climbing gym has something for everyone. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable, as well as friendly, plenty of room to store gear while climbing, gear to hire is of a high standard and prices are reasonable. Great place! We went there for a day out for the kids. There are plenty of climbing walls for kids and many for the more skilled climbers. I didn't climb myself so i didn't have to pay entry fee which is awesome as we only paid for those who wanted to climb. I still had a great time. Great for kids! Hosted my sons birthday there. Kids had a blast! They have an online booking system to invite your guests to the list so they dont have to sign the waiver at the venue. Took my 9 year old grandson to the Edge as he is in to Bouldering!! He tells me Extreme Edge is just like 7th heaven to him. Staff are excellent with lots on to provide supervision to the less experienced climber. My 9 year old climbed every wall he was permitted to climb except the one with the ropes!!! Apparently this is extremely difficult but he gave it his best try with about 15 attempts to master it!!! He will be back once he strengthens his fingers. Excellent place for kids of all ages - and adults too, if you’re game.

Wasn't expecting much, been to two "clip'n climbs" that were both good fun, places I'd recommend, but this place is undoubtedly better than both, arguably both places combined! It's not a clip'n'climb but it has the same type of system as well as the regular old school choices you'd expect to find in a rock climbing venue. They're very kid friendly and offered something for all skill levels, and in a nutshell of an old airplane hanger, I'd definitely recommend coming here, because I'm definitely returning. Oh and very reasonably priced, better than clip n climb imo... especially for the variety to pick from.

Such a cool rock climbing place for kids! Heaps of different walls, all sorts of awesome designs, really creative and fun. They obviously love what they do, the environment was fantastic and the kids had a blast. It's mainly for children, I'd say 14 and under, but the main walls go way up high so all confidence levels are covered. There are also cool walls for much younger kids to climb and an awesome hand crafted playground. They were busy when we went in the school holidays but there are lots of walls and the kids didn't have to wait to climb.

I had the best time here with my two children (5 and 7)! My son celebrated his 7th birthday here and he has so much fun we came back to spend another few hours the following week! The staff were friendly and professional, the walls and ropes were in excellent condition and the set up meant there was something for everyone of all climbing levels. Came here in the school holidays and was expecting the busyness on arrival. There was a line when we got there and some parents were complaining they had been waiting for awhile (up to 20mins) luckily for us the wait wasn't too long but there were no clear lines of who was in which line as everyone stood in one big group, the pay area is quite small when there are alot of people there at one time. Instruction talk was straight forward but wasn't much of a safety talk as it lasted less than 5mins. The facility itself is cool, lots of climbing walls we stuck to the ones with red rope as that was what we were told by the safety guide. There was no one supervising the kids area where the play area is so older kids were running everywhere even though it says no running. Kids were running across the bridge and I wondered if it would break or fall with the way they were all running across it. My youngeat daughter was quite intimidated on the playground because of the older kids. All in all the cost for 2 kids under 6 to climb was reasonable and for unlimited hours as well. Not much seating available or space to just chill. Saw on other reviews that it can get quite hot in there it was cold and raining the day we went so wasn't too bad! Would come back again but would recommend more supervision in the kids area especially when it is busy

The kids love this place but its not the best place when its extremely packed. Would be nice if there were more spaces for sitting while watching your kids climb. The layout couldve been designed better. All the walls are crammed next to each other and you are almost walking in to children and adults each corner you turn.

Great value for 8hours of challenging fun and physical fitness. Found a deal on grabone. Was easy to find the place, lots of parking, staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Can take your own food in. Toilets were clean. There was a refillable water station at the front desk. Great vareity in levels of difficulties with the rock climbing walls. Closes at 10pm. Highly recommend this place for all ages and fitness levels. Good to watch the more advanced adult climbers as well.

The rock climbing and play area are great. There are a number of spaces for private functions to cater for a kids party, however there is no catering. They serve coffee and basic snacks such as muesli bars, chips, ice creams, and cold drinks. Staff are friendly enough, and are always on patrol keeping everyone safe. The venue has been there a while, and we frequent quite a bit, however it appears they don't invest money into necessary improvements. The ventilation is terrible, and they have no air conditioning. People are always complaining about the heat, and kids are losing interest in climbing quickly because of the heat. I have provided feedback about their ventilation in the past, but have seen no improvement. I guess the suggestion box there is just that, a suggestion box. Pointless if you don't take on board the feedback. The owners don't appear to be interested in investing much money into this business, as there have been a lack of improvements over the years. The video games and air hockey that they have there are regularly out of service.

We have been a return customer many times. Kids love this place. Not only they have great variety for rock climbing (which is perfect for 5yo-9yo), they also have a pretty amazing indoor playground which kids constantly switch between that and rock climbing. Another big plus is their entrance ticket is an all day pass (I.e. you can start late morning, go else where have lunch, go back there for more fun). Will definitely go back again sometime soon.

Fantastic place for kids parties. There are walls for all levels and the equipment is save and well maintained. There is also a separate, huge play area for kids in case they aren't into climbing the walls. A bit hard to find as signage is space, so keep an eye out for the big blue shed in the back of the lot. :)

This place is awesome! The walls are good to either learn on or practice on to get better. Big open plan and it doesn't feel too crowded even in the busiest of days. The staff there are friendly and always willing to give advice. Great place to do some exercise in disguise or for a kids party.

This was a really nice climbing place. It is not so expensive and it will cost you somewhere around NZ$15 to NZ$20 to enter and you can just stay until they close. And staff was very friendly. It was my first time today and the trainer trained me really well. You have your freedom to climb any wall you like. You can bring your own climbing gear or you can hire for NZ$5. I would highly recommend this place for rope climbing. They have snacks and drinks if you need.

They have a few snacks and decent coffee available. Fun place for kids' parties. Only downside is that there is a lot of carpet that gets wet with rain and visitors, so it can get a bit smelly at times.

We have climbed at a few gyms around the world (Cape Town, US, Malaysia, Singapore). As a lead climber, this one is great for overhanging climbs. It could, however, use a bigger boulder area, with more mats. I've never seen a gym like it with such a huge area for kids. They've got the birthday party thing down pat. If you're coming for a good training session on the weekend, you'll probably have most all of the lead walls to yourself but just bring some earplugs to guard yourself from the noise of all the kids.

Of the few big climbing places in Auckland, Extreme Edge has everyone beat in terms of space. There's a wide variety of different routes and the holds generally 'hold' out (heh). It accommodates for all climbers, even beginners and kiddies. I'd only take a star off from the place just because of the location. It's a little inconvenient if you don't have a car. If you do, it's pretty easy to get a park.

Apparently one of the better bouldering gyms in Auckland. The walls are short with a mixture of angles including a roof. I felt the route setting was a little stiff for the grade but ok , some moves are a bit contrived especially in the roof. The holds are old school, dirty and pretty polished, I'm assuming the problems dont get changed very often. The mats are very old and bottom out easily. There is also a little training area with hangboard, campus board and other little bits and pieces. If you just wanted a quick bouldering fix then this place will do the job. I didn't route climb but the lead walls look steep, pumpy and good.
