At the entrance were asked right away to sign in and for our vaccine pass. This makes me feel reassured that it's safe in the facility. The staff are have bright and friendly attitude. The place is clean which makes the overall experience satisfying 😌

Great. Real friendly dude outside and counter staff good. Pool floor is peeling but I'm not bothered. Great place to do my lanes and the spa is awesome

Great place to watch the kids full view all around and very clean and tidy. Could do with a better toddler area. As gets deep fast.

A great pool to take the kids to. I have taken my nephew there from when he was a baby to now when he is 6 years old.. we both still love it. Several family change rooms which all include showers.

Great place to take our grandchildren to learn to be more confident in the water. Had a great time and loved the wave pool.

It's a great place for kids and has a wave pool, lazy river and giant bucket dunker. It's not the biggest rec centre but it's lovely:)

Receptionist SAski has explained about membership to me in detailed. It was very comfortable to talk with her.

Excellent place for swimming, sauna bath, hot pool, spa, gym and many more classes. I love this sports center. It's onmy 6$for adult swimming pass including pools, spa, hot pool and sauna. They have cleaned toilets and bathrooms. A ton of car parking and around center street parking available. It's busy on Saturday morning and sunday morning. Staff is friendly , helpful and kind. 👍😊

Great place. My daughter does beach volleyball and the sand court is perfect here for training.

Show your vaccine pass and it's business as usual in the gym. You still need to pre-book for the fitness classes and it can be a little hard to get in to the popular ones.

Went to check out the gym. Staff were very helpful and the equipment is good. I will be joining the gym. It will be even better when the pool is open. I have since joined and am very satisfied with the service and professionalism of staff.

Very convenience opening hours, gym is well equipped and spacious.

Water temperature was nice and it was not very busy when I got there at 7:30am. Just disappointed that there are no private changing rooms.

Good parking, friendly staff and a great recreational place to keep fit. Loads of different sports and workouts available. Pool has an activity pool with waves at sweet times, lap pool, spas and a sauna that's not going. Toilets and changing rooms usually clean, as of the whole facility really.

Very enjoyable Pet Expo. Learnt Turtles shed their shell every 12 months and many other Animal facts.

Great pool, gym sauna and spa... Large parking area with friendly staff and awesome facilities... Highly recommended! 😊

Great wee pool. Good for young kids, my boys are 6 and 7 and this was a safe depth for them. Nice spa and sauna available for the grown ups too. Fantastic way to tire out the kiddies on a Sunday arvo

Great gym, and the pools are always mostly fantastic. Although chlorine level is too high and turn the jets on in the spa! Can see way too much with the water just still as it is 😂

Super helpful staff, no question too silly. Took two toddlers to Tumbletimes, they absolutely loved it. All equipment in excellent condition, plenty of room for all the participants.

Great park for letting the dog stretch his legs. A credit to the city council and community groups.

We are so lucky to have Pioneer pool in our neighborhood. We have been coming here for over 30 years and its never been better.

Great pool but avoid school holidays & local schools swimming lessons ot built to funnel noise away but it comes back down from ceiling 20 + children are enough at once decibel levels go sky high. Everything echoes here

Nice pool but too small for too many people. Hope it can open till 8pm. Sauna's a bit too hot.

The venue itself is fabulous, however there is insufficient parking for any major activity, which is ironic when CCC would demand more parking as regulations if it was a private entity. As usual 2 sets of rules

Loved it. We had loads of fun

Have come here for Tumble Times with our toddler a few times, the woman running the sessions is great at it, very energetic. Always plenty of equipment/activities for kids of different ages to choose from. Have been swimming here a couple times, pools are okay. Need a better toddler/preschool area. Love the fact there's a park right outside the building. Very convenient.

I have always liked this place as a young person I played volleyball and squash here. Older I took my children swimming. And basketball here I have at verious time's used the pools facilities for health and recreation spa ,lap pool, steam ,suna. Even have been beaten by my father at tennis on the courts out side a happy memory of the man who I miss . A great family facility

Our favorite pool to visit. Always pretty clean and well maintained. Pool is great for little ones and it's not overly crowded.

For those who haven't been here its a lovely place to go to for sports eg indoor football and basketball. They also got a swimming pool to offer for those of you who will like to chill in the spa sauna and steam room. Great for kids as well with a wave pool, lazy river, and water equipment to play with.

Pool under going renovation at moment. Great playground and volleyball net behind stadium. Senory room is great for kids and adults with disabilities

Not my usual rec centre but just needed to get my aqua fix while ov vacation. Loved it. Clean, friendly and not just the staff, very welcoming. Loved both the instructors... great humor.

Love going to watch my son playing basketball. Didnt realise it was no spectators, until a lady on the door told me VERY rudely. Staff should be more polite. She almost yelled at me NO SPECTATORS, no sorry, nothing. How rude.

Tumble Times for toddlers is fantastic. Great variety of equipment, lots of space to explore and safe.

Good quality facilities. They do take care and maintain this place well. It can get really busy on a hot summer day though.

Great pool for kids of all ages, separate from lane pool. Great facilities and rooms which are easy to hire for meetings. Good gym facilities and classes. Make sure if you take a membership that it includes pool. Note at time of review Aqua classes are additional but worth the investment.

Came to use the sauna and steam room. Family friendly, but very crowded. Both are really small. Good spa pool and shower for washing down after being in the sauna.

Swimming pool great for kids. Cafe for afterwards. Usually plenty of parking. Bike racks too. Park just outside if you want it. Family changing areas make it really easy with little ones. Swimming prices are good value. Pool slopes in gently, has floats etc to play with, a water "spout" to splash about under.

Nice for a float in the pool, just stay away from the dodgey spa pool and sauna areas full of perves

Good pools for toddlers+, for babies go to Graham Condon.

Great place for children. They also have steam and dry sauna and hot pool. ;) I suggest you use locker for your valuables as someone people too accidentally our stuff few times.

The venue is a bit dated - but provides a great range of sports facilities. Good gym, nice pools and the best spa pool of all the CCC pools.

Went to the Sensory Room. Excellent place for the young or those that could explore new senses

A well designed smaller facility. It's my favourite of the Chch indoor pools with or without the kids. Hot areas working well usually.

Great place for all sorts of activities. Ample parking, outdoor park, disable parking and access to entrance. It has a pool with lane swim, lazy river, sauna, and steam, many family changing rooms available. Gym has the pool view. They also have affordable sessions for preschool kids.

Good take the kids to basketball and straight for swimming afterwards

Hot and unlimited showers for just 2$. Only negative aspect is that there are no doors for the men's showers. No problem for me but probably for other ppl

Decent rec centre, go here with my kids all the time. Parts of it are a little dated, but it has all the amenities you need with no real problems.

As a swimmer, the lap pool is okay. However for recreational swimming, it is great fun. Pioneer is the only pool in Christchurch city to have a lazy river and wave pool (as QEII was destroyed in the 2011 earthquake). Pools/Aquatic Facilities: 25m , 5 lane Lap Pool Wave Pool with Lazy River and toddler area. connected but separated (look through the photos. It's the area with the frog). Spa (with disabled access) Sauna Steam Room SwimSmart (only for lessons)

Good job here always clean staff are helpful and the pool offers plenty of activity for kids. So glad I live near to this centre

Great place to swim with kids or alone, there is a cafe also. It has a lot of parking spaces and accessible to wheelchairs.

Main pool is currently closed for maintenance so no possibility of doing laps here. Untill March 2021

We use the pool here weekly. Great facilities and only $3.50 for an adult to take a child. They do swim lessons for kids as well during the week and we've always been really impressed with the teachers. We have also been to the sensory room several times with our toddler, and while the booking system is really annoying, the room itself is awesome!

Awesome place that's often busy which is pretty good for children to mix around, meet new people and make new friends. Plenty of parking.

There is a tennis court, basket ball ground, beach volley, playground... A lot of stuff ! The swimming pool is good and played few time indoor volley ball and had a very good fun.

The leisure pool is wonderful for walking and exercise. Great changing facilities.

Fairly decent fitness center but unfortunately the gym and pool are a little old and look like it too. Thought the pools were a bit dirty as well.

Very happy to use this fantastic facility it's so easy to get to as I use the busses I am just telling everyone I know about how good the facilities is run.

I enjoy the spa my daughter and I enjoy the swimming and the wave pool

Bang for buck, council gym memberships are great value. Access to venues across the city. Access to classes (need to pay for spin) BUT Yoga ( called stretch and release) classes are included in you membership. Add on a few more $ and get access to the pools as well. Equipment is of a good standard and staff are generally on hand to help.
