O.This hut was an absolute godsend after a challenging hike in less than ideal weather. Well maintained, a great spot to stop. Be careful to ensure it will be open don't get caught out! Amazing the thing hasn't blown over! Would walk up again for sure on a nicer day
G.Always amazing especially so for sunrise in winter. You will need crampons, ice axe and good technique to safely make it up there.
M.Great and cute hut at an amazing location. It has 10 beds and enough space for cooking and having a chat with your hiking mates (always nice people that you meet on the way). The only cons would be the wind. You have to be prepared for very strong winds on both, night and day.
M.One of the most challenging hikes in NZ for sure, but absolutely worth the view! Gloves help a lot with climbing up the sharp rocks!

The summit is really hard.. don't do it after a long day hiking.
J.Highest DoC hut in the North Island and has amazing views. Great shelter from terrible storms that roll off the nearby sea. Good base for mountaineers going up the south side in winter.
M.Cosy wee hut that held 12 of us easily enough with plenty of room to sleep and enough of the basics to be comfortable for an Autumn overnighter.
T.Spend a night there!! Even if it is cloundy, at dusk and at dawn it is mostly clear and you'll be rewarded with the best sunrise and sunset ever!
