J.Great experience, great guides/instructors, and a great climbing area. We last minute checked to see if we could do a 2 day lead climbing course and Harry was extremely accommodating and got us in with himself and Ella for a very instructive, safe and comfortable first day of learning the ropes and acheiving our first few lead climbs! The next day we headed out with the owner Gareth, you could not ask for a better ambassador for climbing - enthusiastic, and extremely knowledgeable, and able to challenge us to push our limits, try some falls, and feel like "proper" climbers! We felt safe and now experienced enough to take things from here and couldn't ask for more! Highly recommend
T.Just had the best few days climbing at Lake Taupo with Gareth from Raglan Rock - super appreciative of the ability to accomodate me at such short notice from Aussie and freakin loved it! J.Awesome climbing instruction from Raglan Rock! Booked an intro to lead climbing in December at their crag near Raglan, then came back for more last weekend with a guided day to consolidate skills. And Raglan Rock were the company that first got me into climbing, with my first ever top roping in June 2020. A consistently fun and stretching experience and safety obviously always the #1 priority. Would recommend to anyone of any level of experience or age.

R.Awesome day of climbing with Gareth down in Waipari. As relative newcomers to lead climbing, Gareth was invaluable in helping us refresh our skills and choosing routes that were challenging enough to help us progress without pushing us too far outside our comfort zone. Lots of great tips and chat along the way! Would definitely recommend either the lead climbing course (for those looking to get into lead climbing) or a guided session (for those with some skills wanting to make the most of visiting a new crag).

We took the 1-day lead climbing course and it gave us the tools and skills we needed to take our outdoor climbing to the next level and start leading outdoor sport climbing routes on our own. Gareth was a great guide, patient, knowledgeable and always prioritising safety. He quickly picked up our skill level and tailored the day course to our needs. Great outdoor educator! And, their crag is great to learn on. Absolutely recommend the experience to anyone out there that has indoor lead climbing experience and wants to progress to the outdoors. Worth every penny :)

J.My daughter and I did the Pioneers Caving and had an absolutely awesome time. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable - and helped to encourage us to do things we may have otherwise passed on - but now we're super happy to have done so .
The caves themselves are wonderful- so cool to know they are just in our backyard. We highly recommend Raglan Rock and the caving tour. Thanks RR !!
n.This is such an incredible experience, quite possibly one of the best outdoor adventures we have had in New Zealand. I can’t believe this hidden gem exists on our road. We had sore jaws from laughing and smiling so much. Such a thrill, and it doesn’t feel “commercial” at all.

C.My husband and I had the best time rock climbing in Raglan with Travis as our guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, encouraging and just a great guy to chat with throughout the morning. We both felt extremely safe under his guidance but he also gave us the confidence to try several routes without coaching us through it too much. The location was stunning and not too far from Raglan town centre. We would highly recommend and hope to book another tour with Raglan Rock soon!
N.Gareth was an awesome guide. Took us to a private crag that Raglan Rock has developed which was just perfect for our level and there was so much more. Had my 13 and 15 year old boys doing a lead climb in no time. Very professional and excellent safety. We had a great time - would highly recommend.
A.My friends and I did the Glowworm canyoning trip and it was unbelievable!!! It felt epic abseiling down waterfalls in the dark and the glowworms were incredible!! The guide was super knowledgeable and we felt super safe the whole trip!! A must do if you’re in Raglan!
A.I was originally booked for canyoning in Piha with AWOL, however, it was cancelled a week before due to council restrictions with the Kauri dieback in the area. Still wanting to do a trip, i discovered this hidden gem in Raglan and reached out to see if any tours were running. As i was driving down from Auckland en route to Rotorua, i could only do one day and no one else had booked as yet. Harry was my contact and stayed in touch the whole time, trying to gather more people for the day so they could run the tour. The time came and it was still just me, but Ben was willing and able to take me out. I paid a bit extra (at my request) for this to happen, but it was worth every cent, and still such good value. Ben was fantastic and couldn't have asked for a better guide. Energetic, confident, interesting and just a great presence to be around. His love and knowledge for the outdoors was infectious and i learned a lot - even got to sample some Kawakawa and Hangehange as we passed through.
I jumped off and abseiled down waterfalls, hiked up stream and down stream in rocky and slippery terrain and rock climbed a steep water fall. Ben was a great support any time my confidence wavered, always double checking safety equipment and i left with a great sense of pride for having conquered Raglan Rock. Gorgeous views along the way, perfect weather, and Ben even provided some great restaurant tips for my stop over in Hamilton. Thanks guys for the best day, this was a huge highlight of my visit to NZ. I'm so glad my plans got changed! Hope to see you again in a future venture.

Also Harry who I think runs the business is awesome as he very kindly accommodated our special need for booking date. Highly recommend this business and its good people.

G.Awesome experience with Gareth as our tour guide. He was full of energy and passion for what he does, which made the experience even better! My partner was so surprised and enjoyed every moment of it. He even said that Glowworm Canyoning was one of his favourite experiences so far! I am still processing everything - the glowworms were an amazing highlight after trekking through the waterfall for 2hours. Definitely put this on your to-do list in Raglan - you will not regret it.
N.We did the Glowworms Canyoning tour and loved it! Our guide was great and really knew her stuff so we felt very safe on the ropes. We abseiled and jumped off waterfalls and the tour ended in a pool surrounded by glowworms which was stunning. We now want to go back for the daytime canyoning tour so we can climb up the big waterfall.
S.Awesome experience definitely worth doing, took my partner on the glow worm canyoning as a surprise and he was blown away, the glow worms were spectacular and the waterfalls stunning. Gareth and Sarah were lovely hosts and nice warm gear was provided, Gareth's expertise made you feel safe and his enthusiasm made it a fun adventure. thanks again guys we will definitely be telling our friends about Raglan Rock!

The crew is amazing, jumping off waterfalls, laughing and learning about all the native plants and glowworms. Definitely a must do in Raglan!

L.Top quality experience! Raglan Rock use their expertise of the activities and the local area to create a fantastic trip. We have Canyoned, Climbed, Abseiled and "survived" the bush craft camp. Safety was paramount to the guides in all of these activities and I would highly recommend this company. I will definitely be back as a school with my students and as an adventurer myself! GREAT WORK

The guides have an awesome sense of humour, and it was so fun to have a go and try this even though I'd never done it before. We did the 7PM Canyoning and were able to be completely absorbed by Nature and Glow Worms. Until yesterday I was going to leave NZ quite underwhelmed with my glowing worms experience and it all changed with this 4h adventure.
Really, forget the caves!
But please bear in mind that this will be done in cold water and poor visibility. One is bound to slip and maybe fall, get wet and cold. Is part of the adventure and the reason why it ends up being so magical. If it was easily accessible everyone would do it. Is not hard exercise and it is done at your own pace BUT it is not a simple walk in the park.
In other hand, for those expecting an extenuating and difficult canyon... it is not. Is enough to have fun and see this amazing animals at really close range and EVERYWHERE.
Another small detail: the river is full with some very special seashells that when open release a liquid that also glows and appears to be just like the worms. So the water is also glowing. How crazy is that?
Regarding the photos, although the guides do try to take some photos, as soon as there is no more daylight there are no more photos. But in the wise words of our singing guide: "the most amazing things we can experience in life can not be captured in a picture".
K.Three friends and I went on the Glowworm Cayoning tour with Ann and it was absolutely awesome. None of us had canyoning experience but the night progressed in an entirely doable fashion so it wasn't scary. The glowworms were amazing... it felt like we were on the set of Avatar! Highly recommend!
N.What an awesome experience! Travis is the perfect guide! Just the right amount of adrenaline, adventure and fun. I'd absolutely recommend everyone try this at least once.
S.Had an amazing time caving with Kyra last weekend. I was pretty nervous but she was so friendly and professional, I soon relaxed and loved every minute. Awesome experience can’t wait to do it again!
O.Canyoning was amazing, we will 100% be back. Gareth was excellent and the route is good for all abilities. We were worried that we might get cold, however with the wetsuits and the canyoning we didn't struggle at all.

J.Wow. I have travelled all over the world and this was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. The guide was professional, supportive, knowledgable and humorous. The scenery was breathtaking. We did the night tour. Been to Waitomo but never seen as many glow-worms as this. High octane and very challenging but also felt very safe. Thankyou Raglan Rock!
