Had an amazing experience on a 3-day trip with lead guide Llewellyn! We climbed in three different spots, each one totally unique. Llew is an expert climber and a treasure trove of knowledge about the outdoors, the New Zealand landscape, history, and good music. He's a really good cook too! This was absolutely the best part of my 2-week trip to NZ. Hope I can come back and will definitely be giving Wanaka Rock Climbing a call when I do.

My Husband and I really enjoyed our climbing experience with Wanaka Rock Climbing. We did the 2-day multi-pitch climb at Mt. Cook with Tim as our guide. Tim was experienced, knowledgeable, and friendly. Our climbing level is 5.11 indoor top rope and 5.9 outdoor lead, and this was our first multi-pitch. Tim chose fun climbs that also challenged us. We would and have already recommended Wanaka Rock Climbing to our friends.

I cannot sing their praises enough! We had Frankie as our guide who was flat out one of the most lovely people we've ever had the pleasure to meet, and so incredibly knowledgeable about all things climbing! In 3 days she taught my partner and I everything we needed to know and more to feel totally safe and confident taking on multi-pitch climbing on our own. Not to mention the extremely fun days of getting out to some really beautiful places with packed lunches that put my meal prep to shame! Llewellyn was super attentive, always very thoughtful and really made sure we were getting what we wanted out of our time with them. Thanks to you both for an absolutely incredible experience that we definitely consider a highlight of our time in New Zealand!

We had a great morning with Llew! He totally respected our wishes for climbing and routes and was an amazing guide. Totally worth to experience climbing if your new to it or like in our case didn’t bring all your own equipment anf just want to access the good spots quick with someone who knows the area by heart!

I can highly recommend these guys! My husband and I spent an awesome day out with Llewellyn climbing the Grand Travers of The Remarkables. He is really professional and reliable guide with deep knowledge and huge experience. He did his best that we could enjoy the climb and he told us lots of information about NZ mountains as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the Level 2 Development Course with Wanaka Rock Climbing. The instructors (Llew + Callum) were very personable, knowledgeable and enthusiastic to teach. They also adapted the course depending on our existing skills and what we individually hoped to learn from the course which was great. There is only so much you can learn in three days, but I came away from the course with all the skills to get out on the rock and lead climb more confidently and safely. Would recommend this course for anyone getting into lead sport climbing. Great lunch too! Thanks Llew + Callum!

I can't say enough good things about these guys. Their guides are not only well trained and experienced, they also truly care about your experience and will go the extra mile to make sure you are getting something valuable out of their courses and will walk away as a better, more experienced climber. My girlfriend and I signed up for two different courses (Level 1 & 2 Development Courses), and Llewellyn was able to arrange the overall schedule so that we would train different techniques and skills while always climbing together. On top of that, my partner had badly injured her left hand just two days before we started the course. I didn't even think she' d be able to climb at all, but Llewellyn made sure she could learn how to lead climb on routes that were more manageable given the circumstances. Not only did she end up climbing and improving her overall skill set, but had a ton of fun while doing it. And so did I! Highly Recommended.

Me and my partner did 3 days of guiding and instructing with these guys looking to get us from the gym onto real rock outside. Had an amazing time with Dan, Callum and Llewelyn. Pushed us just enough to make real progress, and gave us the headstart to explore more of New Zealands climbing. We'll probably head back next spring to get some multipitch instruction.

Our half day with Frankie as our instructor was one of the best bits of our trip to the South Island. She was a great teacher - able to give you the tips you needed while also not being overbearing and improving your confidence. The routes selected were a brilliant mix and in a very pretty spot. Our family of four spend an incredible day climbing the single cone mountain of the Remarkables in March 2018. It was one of the highlights of our six week trip to New Zealand. Llew and Dave were patient, experienced guides and although all of us found the experience challenging (and a bit scary!), we felt safe the entire time. Two of us went with Llewellyn taking the easier ascent and two went with Dave and we all met at the top of the summit for lunch and abs sailed down together. On top of it all they’re both really nice guys to spend the day with. Thanks again Llewellyn and Dave! It was an experience none of us will forget and an amazing, inspirational, introduction for our kids.

We had a really great day out with Llewellyn. We thought we would have to cancel due to the periodic rain showers but Llewellyn brought us to multiple really fun crags that stayed dry. He was totally flexible and accommodating. The provided lunch was also really delicious!
