I Did it while fasting in Ramadan. Took slowly to avoid being burned out. The view at top really worth the pain.. even the views while going up will give you some Hollywood adventurous movie feeling🤣🤣. HIghly recommend.
S.
Ran up in 30mins and threw up if you’re unfit like me I recommend pacing it there are a lot of steep steps up to the top
Really nice walk and views though

Short, strenuous walk to the top, around 40 mins- 1 hour. Well maintained track with toilets at the bottom. Excellent views at the top.
R.
About a 60 minute climb depending on how fast you can go. Stairs and slightly steep walks are nicely combined.
Sights during the walk are limited, however the sight at the end makes it worth it.
Max. 5 people on the top. There are no handrails on the top which could make it a bit scary for people who are affraid of heights.

Took us 40 minutes to reach the top.
It's a mission of a walk, but well worth it when you get there.
There is another viewing rock half way up the walk, at the board walk follow the track to the right (you leave the boardwalk) the view there is even better than the view from the top.
Freedom camping is allowed in the carpark.

About a 60 minute walk if you have low level of fitness, like me. Plenty of steps to keep you
puffing on the way up. Toilet on site which is handy as well as plenty of parking. Local club cafe and bar opens at 4pm if required.

It's a bit of a hike, but you don't need to be super fit to do it, just give yourself plenty of time.
The track up is well maintained, there are quite a few steps so if you have bad joints of any kind I'd give this a miss.
The views from the top are nice, but I'd advise to try and go when it's not peak time as it's supposed to only be a maximum of five people in total on the very top as the area is quite small and unguarded/no railings.
I think for most people it's worthwhile doing if they have some extra energy.
There is also a nice lookout point that's just a couple of minutes walk up so those who just want to get a photo with minimum effort, this would be for you.

The walk was easy despite the constant uphill and steps. Weak knees, better take your walking sticks or borrow your nana's cane. The view is breathtaking and very picturesque, especially if you get there earlier or during the weekdays when few hikers are doing the walk. Max of 5 people in the viewing deck/stone boulders so please follow if you want to stay alive or if you care enough with the other photo enthusiast.

Quite a bit of moderate trekking wil take you to the natural beauty of sea and human life from a 🐦's eye view.
t.
Lots of steps, but very worth it with a beautiful view at the top
T.
Very nice place indeed but you need to very careful when you walking up because the footsteps are very small, slippery and little bit muddy.there is no middle point to take pictures so you need to reach to the top for the best view.
S.
Exhausting Hike but worth the clumb for scenic views. There are two hidden paths that lead to picturesque cliffs overlooking the sea and valley.
F.
A good mountain for a "walk". More than 400 meters up (and down). It is rewarded with a beautiful view over Bream Bay, Marsden Point and the Oil Refinery. Don't forget to bring water or some other drinks with you.
J.
About an hour hike up to the top, and if you have some decent climbing experience and you can continue further to the very top of on of the heads!
D.
Beautiful sunrise and views!
Plenty of steps but well worth the time and effort!
M.
Awesome views at the top, killer walking up and down 1000 stairs
A.
Steep hike of 427metres, maintained path, and wooden stairs, so many stairs.
The view looking down an almost 360view, is incredible, the views of the harbour is stunning 👌would recommend the sweat tears but bring water and good shoes!
Hidden viewing platform: path is located 15mins from the top, there is a secret man made path from the wooden spiral flat walkway, it's 30 seconds to the cliff face, and almost better than the very top view.

My favourite track 👍
A.
Fun little hike with beautiful views at the top
S.
steep climb but worth it for the views!
N.
Pathway really well maintained, but the view on top is ok but not like breathtaking or something. It looks actually better just at the beginning of the track and while climbing you have few spots where it looks nice. But it's a nice path if you have the energy to climb 500 stairs. Take lots of water and a cloth to clean your sweat haha.
R.
Very well maintained track with lots of stairs to get your heart pumping. There's a beautiful view from the top. Unfortunately, part of the view includes an industrial area. ItsI still worth the work to get to the top!

Mount Manaia:
When you get there: There is parking available past mount Manaia club. Be sure to take a backpack with everything you need as the hike is around 3hours return.
Hike: The hike is around 3 hours long and contains upward and downward slopes with a mixture of dirt and wooden tracks. Also whilst we were going up we met locals who told us about secret view points which are off the main track. If you notice a clearing or path check it out for the viewpoints. The mountain is also known to be very sacred and only chiefs were buried there. The views itself are spectacular!

On of my best spots on the north island of NZ. Great little hike up there to get breathtaking views in about 1 hour. Go to sunrise/- set most beautiful and not to packed at all.
Good camping/staying overnight for SC vans in the carpark too (limited 2 spots)
Enjoy ...

"Stairs of Doom"! But definitely possible to reach the top 😊 For less fit people like me - took an hour up with many breaks. View was fantastic! Had a picnic at the bottom to refuel.
K.
Is a good walk to the summit. Awesome views along the way, soon tests where your fitness is at. A good change from walking the Parahaka track.
A.
Great work out for the legs with all the steps one has to climb. Beautiful views at the top of the mountain on a sunny day.
L.
It's a good, tough 1 hour walk up to the summit, but it's well worth the sweat. The 360 degree views it's amazingly gorgeous
J.
Windy and sooooo steep with hundreds of steps but the view was great. Also all the effort to get to the top really flushed out my headcold.
M.
Been there; done that; read the book, seen the movie, and I have the tee-shirt. Not to mention I have camped on the top of Mt Manaia. ;)

(Translated) Well-developed path to the impressive summit. Wonderful all-round view. Some information boards inform about the interesting history of the area.
Only the entrance is a bit hidden and there is little parking space.
