K.I got the Fat Puku burger and it really tastes like a amped up version of a cheeseburger. I loved that the meat was really crispy on the edges but yet still so juicy. The Frost Fries had a super interesting sweet and slightly salty taste.
The service was good and the menu was explained well, the staff definitely care about the food! Also the prices weren’t bad for a more boutique burger place.
We went for lunch but I can imagine the vibes being great at night.

Real smash burger taste with that signature crispiness to the patties.

M.A must do in Auckland. We travelled from Wellington, which has a strong burger scene. But this place slaps.
Make the effort to dine in as the decor, music and hospitality is just the best. Old school hip hop and honestly, the best burger I have ever eaten. We went for the Fat Puku and the Bernie Mac. Just perfect, and really refreshing to actually be able to taste the patty which was crispy round the edges. Sides were epic, the sweet and salty fries are so wrong yet so right.
Great selection of craft beers and RTDs to help wash it down and the happy hour cocktail was too good.
We'll be back.

Got the Bernie Mac(Bigmac), Puku buster(Double Cheese w/Mustard) and Chris Tucker (BBQ sauce).
Puku Buster was nicest of 🍔 ("Habanero mustard" 😂😂 definitely missing the habanero)
Didn't have the best experience, waited 40 minutes and some other customer that came 15 minutes after us got their order first(it gets annoying after a while).
Overall liked it but the hype was over by the time the food got to us.
J.We heard about Fat puku from a good friend of mine so we thought we would try it out at their Albany Branch :) and we absolutely Loved it! So tasty and goodness with every bite. They currently closed their Albany branch last year and moved to Auckland City off Queen Street, which we visited their new store on Saturday! It was worth the drive :)
Their new spot is so funky and different!

A.Just finished the double patty cheeseburger + fries, second down on the menu. Must say, it was on point.
My mates and I have a tradition to do burger crawls and this one will be added to the list. My final thoughts were that it’s basically a ‘suped-up Mcdonalds’, but in a good way.
Areas to improve for me would be:
1) A little too much salt overall, especially on the fries
2) Price point could be brought down a tad
3) Salad in the burger was limited to onion but I’m assuming this tends to be the norm with this style of burger…?

H.Good place, love the vibe and the music played. Good was great. Staff seem genuinely enthusiastic to have you there when we called ahead. South African guy running the place was great if not a little rushed off his feet. Only feedback would be to work on the display of the menu. The offerings are good but we had to read every item in full to work out how each burger differed from the next. Even if you just highlighted the key differences to not lose the tone of voice you’ve put into it? Anyway, we’ll be back.

B.I read the Google reviews and thought that there's no way this place can live up to this hype. I was wrong. Fat Puku was outstanding. Their chocolate milkshake was the right amount of sweetness and the quantity was just the right, could taste the quality of the ingredients used. The fries with salt tasted like buttered popcorn to me and had a nice crunchy texture with a soft inside. The burger was so flavourful, nicely cooked with good flavor. The buns were so soft and held everything together well without falling apart. 5 stars.

Had a burger and a beer with some mates, service was fantastic and quality of the burgers was top notch. Great seating available and a must try if you’re a burger connoisseur. Located on upper Queen Street, it’s easy to find. Lots of alcohol choices and side options to go with those burgers. Give this place a go, you’ll be back.
K.THEY’RE BACK! FAT PUKUS are back in business and are located in the AKL CBD which is perfect! As many have pointed out that they are now in the old Al Browns location, but bringing their own vibes and aesthetics to the location! Imagine everything you’ve seen on their Instagram but now in real life and bigger and badder than ever’ can’t wait for them to open shop and be able to have a burger right on the counter there!

A genuine burger classic with cheese. Smash two Fat Puku beef patties on the grill, get to work with shredded lettuce, B. Mac sauce, our special homemade pickle, diced onions and bring it all back home between two fresh potato buns ▪️ Burgers are on point as usual and I’d expect nothing less from the team 💯 the first bite just has you making all the right noises, the balance of sauce and that delicious meat blend, smashed to thin lacy perfection 👏🏽 enough said! It’s a SOLID BURGER okay!
Fat Pukus don’t discriminate they have a Veggie burger too with the beyond meat patty in the mix, so if you don’t eat meat no worries 😉
So happy to have them back and can’t wait to eat them again! For those who always ask me where my favourite burger spot is! This is it! Go check em out and show them some love! Once they open up the dining area I’m definitely visiting 👍🏽

Their patties are perfectly smashed, the cheese is great, and the mustard is to die for. I will be coming back here often from now on.
