Reviews of The White Lady
G.
I would give a well respected 4.6 stars. However, would be a perfect 5 stars if I buy this at 4am 🤣. Very friendly and attentive staff. Well prepared Hawaiian Cheese Burger, very juicy patty (slightly skinny), plenty of veg and beautifully cooked pineapple. An ideal comfort greasy food. Will have this lovely burger any day.
F.
What better place to stop by at 3am after a night out doing the absolute most? 🍻😂 the Old Skool Burger & cheese toasties always do it for me! So crunchy, warm & fresh! 🤤 The only downside would be the wait times, and your customer experience depends on who’s working that day. But I have had some very funny, lovely, and memorable interactions with certain staff there! Can’t wait to keep stopping by here to try out more of their very tempting menu! 😋
Y.
It's been popped up around Commerce St. Iconic fast-food in Auckland CBD since 1948.
Traditional American style burger and chips.
K.
Hungry at 2am? The White Lady is the place to be 💯 Lexi and Eddie will look after you with the best burgers, chips and shakes. The deserve pay raises tbh😁
I.
Hawaiian burger, Chicken burger, American hotdog, fries and milkshake were all super satisfying and tasty! Very generous sizing and great value. Highly recommend and will definitely be back again. The service was great too, thank you!
B.
I went to the food truck that was at the Beer Spot in Panmure. There is quite a range of burgers to choose from. I went with the White Lady and that was delicious. The burgers were huge and very tasty. Cant go wrong with beef, bacon and cheese.
C.
Very very expensive and a little disappointed with the food.
My cheese burger was more lettuce than anything else. The $6 pot of chips ehich serves 1 was very average.
Nothing special about it these days. Not like it was in the early days. Now it's just an average takeaway bar that's very expensive.
E.
Burgers are pretty good but nothing special, 8/10. Be careful paying for it tho. I had to question the bill twice before paying for the right amount ordered. Explicitly ordered a 15 dollar burger, first invoice came 26 bucks, I questioned it, second came 39 dollars, questioned again and finally got it right. 🤔.
J.
This place has been a staple for over 70 years and I can totally see why. The food is quick, cheap, and delicious. The fact that they're open basically all night is insane. Definitely a must try for a late night meal or snack. I had the grilled cheese which was cooked to perfection. I will definitely be back.
J.
Great hamburgers, steak burgers, chicken burgers, fries and shakes and it's open 24/7 on weekends. Service is quick and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Loved it 👍
C.
The white lady definitely puts up a good fight for having been around for so long. It's burgers were good and am not complaining about how much it costs too. Went there three times and I remember not having to wait too long for my food despite having a short queue.
p.
I would give a 4 star. I ordered a chicken cheese burger. Service was very good. The burger was ok. It had very less sauce but you can add it later if you want.
E.
Best burger i have ever had ..toasty bread fresh salad homemade patties..whatelse could i ask for..dont feel guilty after ate like the feeling you usually have after you have a fastfood burger
Y.
The old classic was the choice for me😁 the chutney? Or the something is divine! The chips and gravy though was what I would be back for and what ever is on that burger!
R.
Sometimes I crave for a burger and The White Lady is one of the few and good places where you can get this good old American classic in Auckland.
It is simple and good, straight to the point. Nice bread, awesome sausage, onion, catchup and mustard. A handful of awesomeness.
Last but not least, it's open 365 days per week! Some nights they don't even close at all, another rarity for Auckland food market.
R.
An icon of Auckland . Superbly crafted burgers with honest flavours . Fresh produce and excellent quality meats . Highly recommended for Locals and Visitors.
G.
Done! No contest so far of even their basic cheeseburger immediately topping my current list of best burger in Auckland. 5 min later and that delicious taste is still lingering. Grilled onions come w it just like I like, and asking for BBQ sauce instead of tomato was the perfect addition. With this only being one block from home, I'm now going to have to try my hardest to restrict myself from having this every day.
J.
Iconic! Part of the Auckland's history, they have been running for 70 years constant! No break 365 days a year! Good food and affordable pricing.
B.
The greatest burger institutions in the city bar none. Whilst others go gourmet, White lady continues to churn good old fashioned burgers, toasted sandwiches, milkshakes and chips like my parents would have ordered over 45 years ago.
The king burger is still the business at $12.50 and I love the crispy pressed patty that they do know, as the texture is phenomenal.
The staff take all the drunks in their stride with a smile and in terms of one of the best places to chat to the locals late at night, the area around the white lady is number one.
D.
I don't actually have words for how friendly the staff are here, for how fabulous the food is or for how hard I recommend this place as a place to eat after a bottle of wine or seventeen.
Go grab the double cheeseburger.
xx
S.
The best burger and chips I've tasted ever! Fresh & hot. The burgers are presented so professional, I was extremely impressed with their skills. Hand on heart their burgers are better than McDonald's & BK after a night out in the town. I highly recommend The White Lady, to everyone. Thank you to the awesome staff xxx
P.
Think of this as an old school food van, established long before food vans became fashionable! It's a perfect stop-off for a pre- or post-drink stomach filler.
You won't be waiting too long to receive your food, but don't expect an instant burger as everything is freshly cooked to order. And fresh it is - buns are soft, lettuce is crisp, and the meat is tasty (it could have had more seasoning, but now I'm just being picky).
I especially loved the way the cheese is melted onto the bun, which besides being tasty, helps prevent slippage when you take some delicious bites.
Looking forward to trying more things from the menu.
I.
Grea burger! been around since last century!
Equally great staff😘
B.
First time at the white lady for 20 years, the hamburgers. Fries and toasted sandwiches are still the same.
R.
I have travelled the country extensively and eaten burgers virtually every where. The White Lady is not only up there next to the very best burgers I have ever tasted but have been consistently setting the standard by which others strive to achieve over the more than 40 years I have been frequenting The White Lady.
J.
Got just a regular cheese burger and it was great! The patty was nice a browned and the bun was toasty on the outside and soft on the inside. The cheese was also like a tasty edam and nice and flavourful. My only gripe is that it's a bit expensive at 11$, which is confusing given the fact that there's presumably very low rental/leasing cost for the truck and parking space. Good late night snack though.
J.
Unfortunately this was disappointing. You kind of expect a greasy but tasty burger but this didn’t tick the box for the latter. The fries were ehhh. I’m a very fair reviewer so this is a low rating for me.
C.
Comfort food that opens till late. This burger joint never fails me. Love their hawaiian cheese burger. Cheese toastie.
Z.
Awesome burgers. Open till late. Couldnt sleep after 12 n head down to grab a bite
A.
Delicious food served from a cool food caravan. Part of Auckland history. It's a must!
S.
The White Lady, an absolute Auckland icon. Over 75 years of operation open 365 days. If your in to a late night burger and fries this is the place.
M.
Me and my gal pal went and tried for the first time. We had the old school burger and it met our every expectation of what an old school burger tastes like. Ingredients were so fresh and the burger was well presented. The chips and shake were the best accompaniment.. Absolutely delicious. Very satisfying. Thank you for your service. We will be back soon😊
F.
The only place to stop for a late night burger or toastie! You haven't lived unless you've had the White Lady experience! 🍔🍔🍔
N.
Great!
P.
very fresh and soft buns
softest burger buns i’ve ever had
P.
The White Lady is centrally located in Auckland CBD and are open until late every night - dangerous!! The veggie burger with egg is huge and soo delicious!!
P.
If you are a Vegetarian and looking for food at 2 in the night , white lady is your place you can have cheese toasties , chips and their veg burger
M.
2.30am on a Friday night... a deluxe burger with gravy fries so completed the evening!
I.
I work here, decent place to work at and burgers are nice, love the toasties too
s.
Fantastic burgers, been going there since the early 80s
V.
Great burgers, hot dogs and milkshakes! Open all days. Reasonable price and great value for money! :)
E.
Dope food, they forgot my drink though but algood should of checked.
R.
The food was good when I was there in 2018, but on my second visit the staff told me they ran out of takeaway paper bags (despite giving the kids in front of me one) because she saw me taking out a plastic bag. Being a first time tourist in NZ I have no idea of the local policy (plastic bags were still being given out by businesses then) so I was taken aback by the reply. Never went back after that.
J.
Milkshakes are too thin and you can't taste the cheese in the cheeseburger. Friendly service though!
H.
I always go there for the hot dog and chips and they never disappoint, so simple yet so delicious! Always good to pop by to grab and go 👍
J.
The White Lady is an Auckland and New Zealand icon. Plain and simple. I have lost count of the times I have spent a night out in the bars and nightclubs of the Queen City and the last reverential act of the evening is a visit to the Lady for one of the best gravity centering burgers you will ever enjoy. She has sustained and pleasured me for years. May she never leave me. There is only one choice for the savvy punter after a few cold ones and the company of friends about to go their way; The White Lady.
L.
Love this place Eddie makes the best Burgers !
H.
White Lady, you have stolen my heart. What a stunning burger. The exquisite cheese, the cooked-to-perfection bacon. I came to the The Beer Spot to drink but I stayed for the bacon burger. I love you forever and always. Call me, darling.
w.
Hot and yum
Bit expensive but im full
17dollars steak and egg if price was lower i would rate it a 4
J.
I would give a 3.5 stars. To be honest, bun is good, way better than a lot of burger bun I had lately. The overall taste is alright, not fantastic.
S.
The best place to finish the perfect night out. I tried different burgers and they are all delicious. Recently I like to get a super cheesy sandwich with sweet corn. The staff is very nice and the service super quick (although most of the type there is a bunch of people) I never tried the fries but they look very yummy. This place is a must have after a night out with friends and I never got disappointed.
A.
Great burger and chips from the white lady. Kids absolutley loved it, service is always good and so is the food.
R.
Wonderful burgers but if you know the White Lady you know this already. I really loved reading about its history. Been in Auckland since 1948 owned by the same owners/family. If you are hungry for a quick bite to eat don't miss giving the White Lady a try. Thank you for a wonderful burger.
A.
Great food, taste delicious. Excellent customer service
J.
I got a White Lady Burger and it has pretty much everything on it that they have! Including a big juicy steak! It was beautiful and freshly cooked, fast service, friendly staff. I think it took me longer to eat it than it took them to cook it! Highly recommended if you're looking for a feed after a big night out in the CBD.
N.
Open late night this burger joint had everything I wanted and more In my drunken pursuit for sustenance.
I had the chicken burger and their biggest burger plus chips with a help yourself aioli it was truy the definition of euphoria.
E.
I've only tried one thing off the menu so far, but it was absolutely delicious! Cheese and onion toastie is simply amazing. Nothing too fancy, just good comfort food. The menu did seem like it had a good range, but it was slightly more expensive than I would have expected for a food truck. Additionally, they opened around 10-15 minutes late one time I went which was a little inconvenient. Overall though, it's a great establishment and I look forward to discovering more of their menu going forward!
E.
Amazing food ant all hours! Highly recommend the white lady burger
A.
Burgers always fresh and great late night snack.
Always done right, bars around the area, hotels, showgirls, all at your fingertips.
Great location! Easy uber home after too
T.
The White Lady, as many know, is an Auckland icon. It's been around for as long as I can remember and it's always been there ready to serve up a late night feed.
Burgers and toasties are always delicious and I do love how they have chicken salt for your chips.
f.
Well at 2am in the morning its the best!!! But honestly good food, good price, no wonder it's been here long time
r.
Fantastic large milkshakes for low cost, best ones I've ever had! And the cheese toasties are cheap and brilliant! But be warned, you may get addicted, we at least go 3 times a week!!
S.
Had the cheese burger. Bun was nice and toasty, patty was tasty and greasy.
J.
Tasty burger, great ingredients, everything tasted so fresh. Liked the cheese burger. Chips are good too.
G.
Came here after a long night out and was surprised to see them open. I don't know if I was just really out of it but it sure was one of the best burgers I've ever had... Don't have a single point to put them down on. Would definitely return, hopefully sober, to try them again! The sides are good too!
S.
Looks great & smells beautiful. The menu looks awesome & yummy milk shakes.
L.
American style hot dog is my favourite!
F.
Good burgers, so on the side of the road. Better than eating at one of those famous hamburger chains.
B.
Simply great burgers. Nothing fancy, just quality ingredients and a good philosophy of "rather a little too much than a little too little".
I had a great time working here casual while backpacking in Auckland. I wish you all the best and hope to see you again! :)
Greetings from Bali.
J.
Dont miss it. The steak burger is very nice.
K.
An all time fave since my teenage years and with age (for both) just gets better and better! The burgers and the service will not disappoint. Open 24hrs over the weekend and 365days a year. My fave has to be the cheeseburger and fries with lashings of tomato sauce. Yummmm
R.
You can go ahead and call this the time machine, the truck , business goes back to the 1948 . Pretty impressive if you ask me, when you visit this joint check out the pictures from time ago. Now let’s talk about the food, chips were pretty delicious the yogurt garlic sauce was nice. The main part , The burger I tried the oldskool but without the egg, i love abit of beetroot, it was a great burger although I was expecting the burger itself to be the Best iv ever had , was decent but i must say Iv had better.
S.
The chips were nice and fresh. I love how you can add your own sauces (and a good variety of them to choose from :) ) the menu was a little pricy though imo
V.
Everything would have been perfect if not for the less than desireable "shakes" that were nothing like how it tasted before. Rich, thick and creamy. It tasted like store bought flavoured milks and when we brought this up to the staff who made it she nonchalantly said that we could request it thick. Okay seriously who wants their shakes watery. 1 star off for this.
O.
Awesome burger to a reasonable price
H.
So far it’s the best burger in city after hard 🤣night out and it’s bit expensive if they keep bit low on price it will be more crowded
P.
You can get free sauce. Aioli , ketchup and one more...so all in all the burger won't be dry...bit on the expensive side but worth the try when all shops are closed they serve so it's well deserved.
M.
What a lifesaver. We had been touring the cocktail bars and were in need of sustenance. Freshmade Burgers and Fries. Super delicious. Super convenient. Great staff, with an amazing backstory.
10/10. Would definitely recommend.
M.
Always love the hot, fresh and tasty food. I always get a Hawaiin Burger and it is moist and delicious ++
M.
Best Hamburgers ever. Over 40 years of dealing with late night munchie attacks it never disappointed
A.
Had this chicken bacon cheese burger and the vege burger. Both were just amazing. However, the vege was more crispy and juicier in comparison to the chicken. But enjoyed both burgers and recommend you to at least visit once. Decently priced..may be priced little higher in comparison to other burger outlets, but guaranteed you won't regret that extra amount spent.
G.
Definitely worth the money for the burgers. Short waiting times and nice workers too.
M.
A real traditional burger, from a traditional food truck. You really get an old timer feel when eating from this place, eating a large burger standing next to a historic trailer kitchen which is wheeled in every day at 19:00. Great food.
J.
Great place for a burger. The staff are smiling and friendly (specially if you smile!). And the food is excellent.
A.
Hadn't been here in years, I forgot how good the White Lady burgers are! If you find yourself downtown in Auckland you could do a lot wrose than grab a cheese and bacon burger from here. As good as their burgers are their chips are excellent!
L.
Love the Milkshake. Burger was just fine.
N.
What can I say, who hasn't been to the White Lady and always had the best burger or toasted sandwich with fries and a milk shake made the good old fashioned way. So we introduced the next generation to the White Lady and they were not disappointed and keep asking to go back....
a.
The burgers were good. I asked for extra jalapeno was charged for it but didnt get any so disappointed
D.
The best burgers in Auckland. Great staff and a history that's a key part of Auckland city and new Zealand. Try an aucklander burger and a banana milkshake. You will be back within a week to repeat this experience. A must eat at venue.
T.
The White Lady in Fort Street always serves up consistently delicious food. If we need to go in to the city we try and time it for a late night dinner. This place never disappoints.
S.
We saw The White Lady packed with so many party people that night and we decided to give it a try. I shared it with my husband and we ordered the one with egg haha! We were def drunk that time. The waiting time is pretty long maybe 15-20 mins but we def enjoyed every bite of our freshly made burgers! Id love to try it again when sober maybe it will male a difference. Haha!
B.
Their reputation says it all...Best dam burger I’ve ever had! Tasted so good it actually gave me a hard on (which was weird cause I was hanging out with my dad at the time).
Aside from that can’t fault it.
D.
Thanks to the two lovely ladies at outside the The beer spot that served me an my partner I was the one that got the white lady burger no pineapple extra cheese an jalapeño absolutely delicious Glad we made it to you’s before you’s left😍❤️❤️❤️
T.
Not bad burgers kinda like home made quality, really handy being open late at night but a bit pricey.
J.
Highly recommend getting a the White Lady Burger
s.
It's good. They claim to have been open 365 days a year since 1948. Impresssive
L.
Faaa still the best quality food, that's cooked with lots of love and passion.that when eating the king burger just throws me back to my younger days wen I use to go to Auckland city in the early 1980 days.thank you for the nice as kai my bros.very pricey but worth it 2me in my book.thank yous so much ,yummy as mean as.........
Kia ora koutou ma
L.
The White Lady! Always delivering great food after a big night out on the town. Burgers are good honest burgers - no fancy gourmet burgers going on here. Add on chips and a drink for about $5. They also do toasted sandwiches and coffee.
E.
The one and only. I waited 5 years to go here and the only thing I regret is to not have gone here earlier. Nice burgers, freshly prepared. Very good meat quality. You can come here as late as 4 am and will still be served. Only take away. No seating.
J.
There food is delicious and still is from when i was little highly recommend i would take my family there again and again
N.
An auckland classic establishment, the must visit street food after a night drinking in town. They are a street food caravan selling burgers, fries and hot dogs. Their burgers are filling and greasy in a good way, exactly what you need in your stomach after a night at the bars. You must stop here on your way home!
P.
I have constantly visited this place for the last 5 years. Never anything short of fantastic hunger buster! They did not have fries before which was like having wearing sunglasses with just one lense in it, but now it's a 10/10. Good job guys!!!!!
M.
Best place for Nightout. Hungry in the middle of the night. remember the name white lady. Really deserve 5 star
A.
Amazeballs! Great for getting food when your drunk or sober, friendly (patient) staff and you might even meet some peepz there who make your night..
Plus the stories they have there (if you can still read) are a great waltz down memory lane 😊
I personally like the Aucklander burger with an extra egg and cheese, 250g of scotch tossed between two fresh buns makes all the difference, the egg and cheese just make it extra delicious..
Be careful though - it is defo a decent burger to behold!
Depending on how busy you find it, you will generally get your food quick smart. And even in the busy periods you still have a quick service.
Would highly recommend to anyone and is a staple for a night out for me, plus its been open every night for 40 years or so..
E.
Classic place to stop by in the middle of the night after going out for a few drinks in central auckland.
This guys are seriously consistent when it comes to burgers, it doesnt matter when or whattime of the night visit them, they will always serve you a quality tasty burger.
M.
Homegrown Kiwi business that still holds true to its traditions. Burgers apart, they also offer fries, shakes, toasties, even a veggie burger. A must have at least once whilst in Auckland. Opens from 7pm till 4am daily. You wont find a shop though- they operate out of a trailer.
E.
Mm cheese burger and vanilla milkshake was the best decision I made all day yesterday.. Soaked up some of the lovely waiheke wine I drank.. So I thought it was the best ever..
R.
Thought it was gone, How marvellous it is not, Auckland in the 80's I worked at Auckland Star, Shortland St, off course early morning, I would watch the guy on the tractor backing the White Lady Van, along Jean Batten and turning the corner (this is backwards) around into Shortland St, yes the old days, during our break we would go to the White Lady, another world, another taste, loved it, and sometimes after work, we couldn't get enough. Then in town at the Pubs, how great Friday and Saturday, after the pubs close (hey this is in the 1980's), everyone would go again to the white lady, u felt so complete having the burger, the toasted sandwich, just standing outside and smelling the onions, teleporter take me back, not forward back to the 1980, I think we called it the Pie cart, although it was known as the White Lady. I make toasted sandwiches done the odd burger, god that can be messy, trying to put all the white lady stuff on it,Nah nothing like, but I did find out, all the tastes of the different food that goes on to the hot plate, transport into your burger, the taste, and the pineapple, that is why is so so yummy. Glad u are still going, standing the test time
Memories are made of this, and great to hear people from far and wide are enjoying the same experiences I had why back then.
P.
The burger was good as usual. I had the chicken burger. The chicken was fresh unlike other fast food joint. Is worth trying if u are in Auckland city.
P.
The white lady was the best fast food burger van I've been too all the ingredients were so fresh and so tasty well worth a try 😁
B.
The original Auckland late night pie cart, execpt they no longer specialise in pies but do killer burgers instead.
The White lady now stands on Commerce street where it is towed into position by the white tractor every night. Famous amongst nearly all of Auckland's late night revellers, the burgers at The lady have stood the test of time and still taste fresh, delicious and full of flavour!
I have had many expensive gourmet burgers and made a fair few of them myself, but there is no denying that unmistakable taste of the "King burger" that gets me every time. I have noticed that the burger prices keep going up, and what was cheap eats is now a decent priced eat. If they had kept there prices down a bit, I would have given this review 5 stars.
J.
absolute cornerstone of Aucklands ever growing burger scene. made with love and just as delicious whether its a Tuesday office lunch or 3am weekend munch before jumping in a cab. The quality is always there.
H.
Hamburger and fries were only ok. One staff was great while the other was not friendly. The bus food truck is an Auckland historical icon but the food is overrated.
a.
Always delivers great burgers, I visit every time I come to New Zealand. Order the King burger and u won't be disappointed. The White Lady burger is massive so unless Ur super hungry I wouldn't go there
J.
Loved it. Fresh tasty food, great customer service. Going back again 😁
M.
I have a bit of a soft spot for unassuming but high-quality establishments, and this right here is the definition of that.
I suppose the only downside is the extremely drunk people you must often deal with around their place of operation - but I think this is probably unavoidable (I mean, you get a burger at 3am, that's what you get). I guess also this is a feature, not a bug, for some.
E.
This is a must do when visting Auckland. Known by the locals for serving probably the best burgers around it is held in high regards. Conveniently located in the CBD its your stop off before heading home from a night out or a quick dinner option.
J.
My husband had tried them before and introduced the food to me yesterday and omg 😍 this is now my favourite food , tasted fresh and delicious hehe . And now we gonna have white lady again tonight haha
K.
My wife and i discovered the white lady 5 yrs ago !
So for the queens birthday long weekend ! ( Melbourne Australia)
We came back to Auckland !
2018, with intention of having another delicious burger and our burgers did not disappoint !
Thanks again White lady !
Here are some more stars because
5 aren't enough !
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ !
T.
The crown of Aucklands outdoor dining experiences
M.
If you are after a classic nz style takeaway burger you can't really go wrong here.
r.
2015- $10 for burgers. $5 for chips. fat juicy tasty burger! buns were soft, the produce in it was crisp n fresh...and the fries were nuclear hot. yuuummmm! i miss this truck during the daytime when im totally feinding for a burger n fries!...too bad she only keeps vampire hours. definitely worth the trek thru the downtown maze of bar n club hoppers in the dark.
G.
Great grub! Had a steak toastie - tender meat fresh salad and tom, tasty relish. The chips taste so good, seasoned to perfection.
L.
Been awhile since i visited , as in 20+ years, however was not disappointed as the burgers were fantastic and would gladly forego other closer gourmet burger places to go back.
K.
Great service, nice chips and American Hot Dog. A little on the expensive side I thought.
L.
Great burgers! They were huge and soooo good. I would definitely recommend eating here for a quick bite 😋
L.
By far best burger
소.
Old school buger is so great
N.
The white lady burger is on point everytime. Great value!
V.
Delicious takeaways! We had the hot chips, cheese grilled toastie, american hot dog & milkshakes.
A.
Little pricey, $22-$24 for burger/steak burger, but worth it! Pretty speedy service, and over all a good burger for the price!
S.
good quality food supported with friendly efficient staff.....was a great moment to visit this epic outlet
J.
One of the best burgers in Auckland always a go to for a late night hunger buster!!! A+++
S.
Tasty but bit pricey, $23 for a white lady burger.
