R.Positive: Ordered fish burger. Quite nice to see the fish batter is made in house not bought it from other fish supply:) Well priced burger with large portion:)
Negative: They stuffed up my order a bit when it say no tomatoes on mine, luckily I checked before I eat and the outside written down no tom, but two orders were switch other way around and made it a bit confused as another without tomatoes and mine has it... I would say the staff should pay more attention on orders and when they put the food in the box!

T.Seriously the best fish and chips ever. Battered or Crumbed fish. The battered mussels are large and absolutely amazing. The Blue Cod and Elephant Fish is to die for. I got 1 scoop chips and should have just got half a scoop. Will be a go to when I head South again. The guy whom served us was damn good bloke!

J.Amazing cod and chips. We went with the crumbed blue cod and were super impressed with the size and quality of the fish. Probably the best fish and chips we have had this year.
We went to thr Beach just down the road to eat them. Was perfect.

B.Yum, yum, yum - quick, tasty and generous portions. We went for lunch and used our leftovers to make fish tacos for dinner. The blue cod was beautiful even after being reheated in the oven. It'll be a tradition to stop whenever we head south.
M.You've got to try the crumbled Blue Cod! It's one of the best fish in New Zealand from Hampden Takeaways! Quick and efficient service with a smile. The chips are pretty damn tasty too! Go on give it a try... you won't regret it!

P.No joke best fish and chips I've ever had. Really recommend. the batter is cooked all the way through and is nice and crispy, fish falls apart in your hands- soooo good :). I drove 200km for these and its def worth it.

b.We always try to arrange any east coast travel to be at Hampden for lunch. Fresh crisp chips, perfect light batter, and the blue cod is fantastic. Generous serves too. No "gluggy" feeling after, like some fish and chips. Do yourself a favour, and see for yourself.

To the person complaining that their single cod and chips was unable to feed 2 people... What did you expect?!? Stop being so stingy. I thought it was very reasonable. This is quality, not quantity.

N.Biggest paua pattie ever from a fish and chip shop. So yummy. When ordering I was concerned over the price but the size exceeded all expectations and the quality remembered long after the price was forgotten.

G.This almost "a hole in the wallc style of place was previously named Lockies and was justly famous everywhere for its fish and chips.
Now Lockie himself is involved with the Fishwife takeaways on Moeraki waterfront. The baton for the old place has changed hands.
But fear not. The new owners here at Hampden Takeways formerly known as Lockies continue the tradition and the takeaway offerings from here are as good as ever.
And still worth a special trip to visit or stopping in while passing. With the side benefit that Hampden Beach is a but short drive away so you can get a proper feed of fish and chips and then enjoy them whole still piping hot, at a proper sandy beach setting, replete with the seagulls and fresh air.
