Not bad, not bad..... will come back. Good burgers and great fish and chips. Reasonable price. They also have milkshake.

The only word to truly describe this place - AMAAAZING! The customer service was impeccable and the food just completely topped it. The burgers were such good value and full of flavour. This is huge for us living in a housebus, we've tried our share of take out. This is one stop not to miss!

Have tried many places in Dunedin for the past four years, but the food from Takeaways on Marlow is unbeatable! Generous portions of chips, huge fish and they have the best onion sausages here. The staff here are lovely

Without doubt the best fish & chips and burgers this side of town. Good fresh fish, crispy batter, tasty burgers (just go straight to the "deluxe" column, it's 100% worth it). Sounds kinda grumpy on the phone at first but actually super mellow.

The best Fish & Chips in Dunedin! The regular fish size was so huge in itself. The chips were carefully cooked and salted. Very nice old-timer running the place with his family. Thank you

The Burgers are amazing, Chips the perfect mixture of soft and crunchy, The Meat Patties are THE BEST meat patties We've ever had from a Fish n Chip shop. Will definitely return again.

We spent a couple of months in Dunedin housestting and our host family recommended this as their favourite and ‘the best’ fish and chips in Dunedin. We actually had to drive past 5 other places - albeit less than 10 minutes - to get from Kew to St Kilda and found this F&C shop all by itself down a quiet residential street. The (tiny) trip was worth it - great Fish and Chips - generous servings, fast and fresh (no stale oil here, that’s for sure). Trudy is a great lady and we really miss our weekly treat now that we’ve moved to the next housesit. We’ve tried, variously, the regular fish, hoki, the sole, the calimari, the blue cod... all fabulous. We find Wednesday night to be the best - just turn up and order and it’s no longer than 10 minutes - we have to say - if you’re going Thurs/Fri/Sat - couldn’t hurt to phone ahead and order as this place is super popular with locals and gets busy.

After multiple visits I'm happy to report the Great friendly service ,the food followed suit the burgers are awesome and the chips are fresh and crisp I will be back.

Fish is really nice. Chips cooked well but very lightly salted. No lemon or napkins included. Burger was fine. They dont accept credit and there isnt an ATM within walking distance so bring cash or a debit card. Travel cards are usually on credit option, travelers keep in mind to stop by an ATM first. Would definately get the fish and chips again, but would ask for lemon and extra salt on chips.

I ordered my usual from here and wound up having enough to have 2 meals installed of one. Big pieces of fish.

Great chips. Blue cod was very nice. Also had onion sausage and homemade curry roll. Very good value for the money and a super friendly owner. You could enjoy this on a parking spot on John Wilson Ocean Drive with great views of the ocean, just an idea.

Awesome Fishes (both blue cod and elephant). Really love them and I am one of their regular customers. The fillet size of both kinds are nice and descent. Moreover, chips are always carefully cooked. Love the place.

Wow! Seriously best fish in chips in Dunedin. Top quality food but quite cheap! I haven't tried burgers yet but they look amazing. I live in south dunedin and this is far faar better than the 4 other fish and chip shops on the main st. Glad i found it, definatly our new local!

Talk about a hidden gem, was not expecting much but what I got was one of the most delicious, crunchiest, spicy chicken burgers I've ever had in NZ! It was quite large for so cheap!

A great, cheap meal. Chips are decent size & soft. I got the hot dog which was awesome! Partner loved his jam donut. :)

Hidden gem! Fantastic burgers, great variety of fish as well as your usual fish and chip shop items. Haven't been let down yet with the chips either! Well worth a visit although can be a wait at times due to popularity.

Best take away shop in Dunedin by far. Massive pieces of fish, great chips, large portions and a cheap price. The staff are lovely and the atmosphere is very happy.

Best Fish and Chips in Dunedin ! Great friendly team always happy and cheerful. Stack Burger is brilliant and the blue cod is always massive and fresh. Chips are great and you never have to wait to long for your order. Consistently good, great location with plenty of parking. Clean store to which makes a difference. Milkshakes and other store items for sale too. Have heard they may be open Mondays now ! Keep up the great work guys : )

Amazing burgers and the best battered onion sausage in town.

This was great! I searched *best fish and chips* and I was not disappointed.... excellent chips and the fish was delicious with a super crisp batter. We were even given free samples of homemade tartare sauce! Bonus.

Nice chips. Greasy fish and meat patty. Fish had horrible taste due to that brown line down the middle of it that fish sometimes had. . Quite expensive compared to my local. Slow service and minimal engagement from staff. Won't be in a hurry to do another purchase

Fantastic gluten free blue cod. I was visiting from Christchurch and staying just around the corner. I rang they made gluten free specially for me and it was delicious. I was so grateful and they were lovely people. Just ring first if you are wanting gluten free options. Next time I'm down there I will definitely be back

On a visit back to Dunedin we found the best takeaway shop in New Zealand. The battered sole was delicious plus the chips were crisp and perfectly cooked. We went back today for the whitebait butties, amazing, and as a bonus, protein cream milk shakes. The premises are spotlessly clean and the staff most obliging.

Slightly old review from a month ago. First takeaway out of lockdown and we opted for fish and chips to enjoy with an older family friend. Had seen great reviews for Marlow so I thought I would try. Used to be put off by the premises (I used to work in the building under a different business/owner in late 2015 which did NOT end well) but I am glad I revisited. Best fish and chips in Dunedin to date. Great serving on the chips, elephant fish was cooked beautifully, lovely thin batter, and the chicken, bacon and pineapple burger was huge and full of flavour. They weren’t doing thickshakes (understandably), but perhaps next time! 5/5

burgers were good , fish was pretty average. First time chips were under cooked, so i asked "cook chips properly" at 2nd time but still under cooked. need a new cooking timer.

As a frequent delivery personnel to this takeaway shop, I must admit I never tried an elephant fish and the lady(might be owner’s relation of some sort) she offered to give me a small piece to try, I was blown away of how tasty and thick it was! For now on anywhere I go I’ll be requesting elephant fish and not my standard hoki. Thank you very much

Probably the best fish and chip shop I've found in Dunedin. Quality fish, cooked well. Great burgers and the chips done just right (And actually seasoned properly, unlike lots of other shops in the city) Excellent option.

My husband & I love Takeaways On Marlow the food is Amazing!! It has the Best Burgers & Fish & Chips! The staff are really friendly & nothing is a bother! I love that they sell Ice Cream Soda!!😄 The music while I wait is Awesome & the shop is nice & clean!! This is the Best chippy Shop 5 Star!!

Fabulous! Fish had a great flavor & chips were perfect-crispy on the outside and hot and soft on the inside. Tried the seafood platter, which was ok but a little overpriced for what it was. Sticking with the regular fish is the best option, in my opinion. Can be quite a wait, so like others recommended phoning your order in (just 1 guy working).

I don't even live here anymore but man do I have fond memories of the chips at this place. Will put a smile on your face on a rainy day, which is most days in general. SO GOOD

Somewhat disappointed first time the chips were really nice had elephant fish was super thin 3mm and wide. Second time ordered ordinary fish (shark) was very thin again. Pineapple fritters are good but disappointing no cinnamon sugar.

In two words, food art. The veggie stacked burger and the portion of chips I had for lunch was the most satisfying meal I've had in Dunedin. Whilst everyone is banging on about nogood nogood this little gem is tucked away and should not be overlooked any longer. These guys are the real deal and clearly love what they do, as it's evident from their presentation and flavour. Best chips in Dunners and could easily take out best in show for the whole of NZ. Class act guys, i'll be back, thanks again.

Great chippie place. We live at north D and they chips stay crispy all the way home. Plus they open on mondays (we like to randomly have cravings on mondays and many places are closed on mondays. Good size portions too. The tartare sauce is a tad bit too sweet for my liking but overall good feed.

Average fish and chip shop. Not great but not bad either. We ordered fish and chips. Fish was ok and of average size Batter ok but not great. I wasn't fussed on the chips. They were narrow and were cooked in a hurry. Mind you it was rush hour and they were busy. A good helping of chips were given.

The best fish and chips I've ever eaten. Delicious, I had one standard piece of fish which was perfectly cooked and very tasty, and the chips were just right; crunchy outside and meltingly soft inside.

Good old kiwi classic fish and chips. Marlows is a small but nice clean place with a good variety of burgers and seafood and good quality for an affordable price. Worth the trip then head to the beach after to enjoy the view 😀

By far the best fish and chips in Dunedin I have tried. They never disappoint and chips are always fresh and crispy.

Was a little unsure about ordering a meat pattie as I have bad experiences before but was told that it was a good thick pattie with a lot of flavour and I was not let down. The chips were amazing and the staff were friendly and helpful. If you are in or near the area this is a must try.

My first time going here tonight after hearing great reviews and I am pleased to say it surpassed my expectations I was instantly greated by friendly staff who helped me through the menu (fantastic range burgers are a must try!) service was excellent, serving size portions was great, everything inside was clean and well presented really raised the bar of a "fish and chip shop" I would recommend to everyone to try takeaways on Marlow and see for yourselves
