Okay…an unusual meal. CoCo Kai has moved to what was the BK at the Shell station on High St, and they’ve spent about $7.50 on interior décor since. But hey, each to their own I guess. I ordered the beef burger and caramel shake, and added a chicken nibbles when a plate of them walked past me. She ordered some Indo-chicken curry dish that I can’t find the name of on Kai’s erratic internet presence. I asked for the nibbles to arrive before the burger so it didn’t sit and wait, and they did. By about 15 seconds. The seemingly-clean but very sticky table top was getting crowded. The caramel shake was excellent - thick, tasty, cold and with an aftertaste that I’m assuming was some kind of caramel syrup. The chicken nibbles were nicely presented on a bed of lettuce and were deep-fried, which really worked. Very moreish. However, the burger was the weak link in the chain. The fries had a seasoning on them we neither recognised or liked, and the burger also had a taste that confused the whole thing. Closest I could get was somewhere between curry and tahini. I ate it because I was hungry and had just paid for it, but not again. For those that like a bit of oddity with their burger, then this’ll be your bag. But I don’t – if I order burger and fries that’s what I expect. It’s not necessary to get all ‘fusion’ and clever with it. Her chicken was very good, she was happy and it did have bags of flavour.

Highly suggest the tower burger, amazing flavor and very filling. Staff are friendly and nice music while we were waiting for our order. I will definitely be trying more off their menu as I suspect it will all taste amazing.

I always order for home delivery and every single time it is amazing. The chicken burger and The Kadhai Chicken specially was fabulous. No matter when I order, even if its close to closing time the food’s been sooo good always. Good work Chefs!!

Excellent, outstanding burgers. My son and I had the beef burger and the fried fish burger. The fish was a massive slab of delicious, very fresh hoki. Their homemade sauce is outstanding. The burger price it turns out included fries and salad. The fries had this delicious seasoning. Definitely going back here.

Best quality food with consistency. Variety of Food. Kerala, Indian Dhaba curries, Best Calicut chicken biriyani in New Zealand so far, Local dishes from Kerala, Butter Chicken was totally different from other Indian restaurant which was very good. We always get Mango Shake which is very creamy. They have special food items on Weekend. They also have burgers, steak, pork ribs etc

Always super yummy & flavourful.. I've tried the Pork belly burger in the past and it was nice and juicy. First time trying the butter chicken & garlic cheese naan the other week and... Omg delicious. Better than a 5 star Indian restaurant. Keep up the good work

An excellent place that let the food and the flavours do the talking. This casual non-potentious have their own take on a wide range of food, and every single item on the menu is the very definition of finger licking goodness. The guys here really do care about your food and will give every order their utmost attention and respect to ensure you eat perfection. The ribs are literally fall off the bone deliciousness with generous amount of meat and sauce that puts most other BBQ ribs to shame. Also try the hot wings, beef burger and chicken roti, as these are fast becoming legendary. Decor is simple and effective with a fantastic mural of Che Guevara to admire while you wait for the meal you will rave about for days afterwards. The quotation wall is also a great read. Everything on the menu you can order to takeaway and you can order ahead if you are in transit. Particularly good idea for a dinner option on your way home.

I was HANGRY so ordered the tower burger & ribs. Not HANGRY anymore. My vanilla shake was superb; the ribs melt-in-the-mouth tender; and the burger so huge I ate it twice! The staff were very friendly & attentive. Will be going back to dine in :-)

Theres a new curry crew in town and they in my opinion rank tops, thats right #1. Try their chips. Its right up there with the best. The team match their service which match their hospitality. A recipe for attraction😊👍👌

The Coco tower is all the burger a man could ever want. Tender, Juicy meat, delicious fried chicken, a splash of mango and some great sauce. Might have to be Tower burger thursday from here on out... Chips are great too.

A gem. There are a few super-convenient parking spots right outside and a few tables inside, so comparable to the drive thru chain opp. The burgers and ribs here are simply delicious, real gourmet, a treat. The fish burger batter was crispy and spiced with flavour and there was even a thin slice of pear. The fish portion was generous. The pork ribs had a crispy skin that the not too spicy sauce didn't mess with (and non-spicy is available). They were tender and good value for the price, so we went back for another great meal. The fries were perfect with a light dip and also came with a small salad with mango dressing. The owner was chatty and and obviously cares.

Absolutely the tastiest food - I've had the fettuccine several times, 3 different burgers & their Philly Cheese Steak sub and never been disappointed. Nice reggae beats in the background, nice relaxing vibe. I wish I could eat here all the time but my waistline can't accommodate it.

My mum invited me to come here just for coffee which turned into me ordering ribs and fries... and may I just say, I have never experienced a meal quite like this. The menu is full of a wide variety of dishes along with affordable prices. What I appreciate about this place the most is how unique it is in the sense that I have not ever found a place with food like this. Please bless your taste buds immediately!

Had the tower burger and Philly cheese steak sub, both were amazing - the tower burger was a monster! Also had the hot wings were we went for the mild option, however we definitely could've gone hotter. The chips have a great seasoning on them too. Very small dine in place, definitely very casual.

If flavour is what you are looking for, Coco Kai will not disappoint, the menu is diverse, with each dish having its own unique take on what the item name would typically define. It is truly an experience that you cant help wanting to repeat, there is so much amazing food to try, luckily the price is decent as well! Not only that, the staff are friendly and polite, and are always happy to explain what a particular dish consists of. I cant recommend this place enough! it is by far the best place for food in the hutt valley - period.

Just dined here. The burgers n chips are absolutely amazing and well worth it. The pastas on the other hand are microwave heated up n so bland. Great place to dine if u stick with the fresly cooked burgers

This place is a bit of a find. When we ate there at Easter There was no coffee machine operating but the food was delicious. The burger tower is astonishing and the big blokes who were eating them loved them. Somehow the tiny kitchen produces really worthwhile food.

This place has the most AMAZING FOOD!! Definitely exceeded my expectations!! My Aunty took me here with my two little cousins, my cousin and I for her birthday and their menu has something for everyone!! Also, the staff was amazing and treated us so kindly!! The two little ones got free hot chocolates at the end of the night which was so cute and really kind. Just amazing in general!! Highly recommended! We visited Coco Kai because of its high review score. There were some quirks - like a printer-paper menu and paper cups instead of glasses - that had me a little worried. But the atmosphere and staff were friendly and as soon as the food came out I knew we'd found a winner. The Philly cheesesteak is well-cooked with a lot of caramelisation, and the waffle fries are perfectly golden. That's the kind of cooking that shows a lot of love. We left very full and very happy.

Great mocha and the cheapest ($3.80 for a Large mocha!)! They were open on New Year's day so could take my toddler for a fluffy amd smoothie! Nice friendly staff too. A bit small and no toys for kids or high chair for a baby (I don't remember seeing one but they might have one actually).
