For the price I would expect better quality food, value for money not great, service very average. And I wonder if during the off season for the locals the price is different 🤔

Good. All the standard options. A good range of fish available and you can have it cooked battered, grilled or crumbed. Chips were well cooked and a single scoop was a reasonable size serve. Would go back.

Really amazing fish and chips ! The fish was so good we have actually been thinking about It all week and want to drive back from Auckland :) lovely and fresh , nice piece of fish and lovely batter that’s not to Heavy . Best pineapple fritter also . There was a large group of us and we all enjoyed our meal . Five stars 🌟

Been at mangawhai since the beginning of time. Massive range of food, not just your typical takeaway foods. Good size meals for cost but nothing special.

Our order consisted of 3.00 dollars of chips, Gurnard, crab stick and a bacon ànd cheese burger. It came to $19.20. Chips were hot and crunchy but the portion sizing is small. My 7 dollar Gurnard was dry, but the batter was crispy. My partner had the burger, he said it was an average burger for 7.50. And lastly, the crabstick was good. We gave a 3 star rating for good/average.

Excellent place to visit if you are into Ice cream. Lots and lots of flavours and choices for standard or waffle cones. A lovely old fashioned feel with friendly attentive staff.

Typical burger & takeaway hint, with a slight leaning towards fish on the menu. I can only comment on what I ordered today. Hamburger was above average size, made with fresh tasty ingredients. Price was reasonable, and a little cheaper than most "trendy" cafes. Polite and prompt service. Would I come here again? Well, that's a YES from me!

Fish and chips are great, one of the best in NZ. Especially for the fresh fish. We tried both snapper and tarakihi. (Fish & chips in NZ varied a lot in edibility). No comments on price as I didn't pay for it...:)

Great fish and chips - crumbed snapper was huge fillets, perfectly cooked and seasoned, and perfectly crispy chips, not greasy at all. A mangawhai institution.
