The staff member at the info desk was friendly and pointed out the aisle to find padlocks. What a great range of styles, sizes and prices. The self-checkout worked well. The man supervising the checkouts was super friendly and funny. Having a Cafe on site was a bonus. It was clean and airy.

Took my doogo shopping with us today. Got a little doggy biscuit at the doorway and were made to feel very welcome. Hubby's favourite shop ever... always heading to Bunnings... Seems they have everything a hard core DIYer could ever want. Always had good service here.

Healthy plants, all thee garden accessories. I've always found the best seedlings here. The team are friendly and helpful too!

Warning! Bunnings Petone is a dangerous place to visit. DO NOT tell your wife that you will only be a couple of minutes then leave her waiting in the car, you WILL NOT be a couple of minutes; the moment you enter the store you will become the proverbial “kid in a candy store”, your eyes will glaze over as you have just entered the realm hardware heaven. Time will become meaningless as you gaze at the range of new power tools. You will find yourself pondering what you own that you could throw on Trade Me to fund this new and exciting tool, this same tool that until 5 minutes ago you had no idea just how much it means to you. You will float down each isle, only pausing to consider how it is that this company can make a profit given their ridiculously low price tags. Call me a slow learner, but after multiple trips to Bunnings and many marriage counselling sessions, I came up with cunning strategy : Step 1, tell the wife you’d like to take her out for a coffee then head to Bunnings she will have already heard from you how great the cafe is and that it has the best priced coffee in the Hutt Valley. Step 2, buy her a nice big slice of cake and a Latte. Step 3, tell her how beautiful she looks today. Step 4, listen to her woes (remembering you only need to pay attention to her last three words). You’ve now got her right where you want her. Step 5 should only be implemented once she’s run out of opinions to share with you (be patient, don’t let your jiggling leg give you away) kindly ask her if she would help you find a nice gift for her mother ( IMPORTANT - give her a budget; $20 should suffice). You are ready now for Step 6, remember timing is everything, slip an unpaid item into her handbag and discreetly tell a staff member you suspect she is a shoplifter. They will hold her out the back for a good couple of hours before the cops arrive…. BOOM!! Now shop at your leisure my brother. :-)

Love, love, love Bunnings and this store is fantastic! Definitely recommend the cafe - exceptionally reasonable prices and great staff. The store has excellent variety and awesome prices. Def worth a visit.

Big store. Can find anything I needed for variety of jobs. But probably the best part is their return policy: if you change your mind on a product, you can return and swap it for a voucher or for another product...even without a receipt. This has saved me heaps, especially being new to DIY's.

As a resident of the Valley, I'm STOKED to have such a great supermarket nearby. It's small, but it somehow has everything you need. Ample parking, day or night. They even have a pretty decent liquor section. We found a very tasty cider brand we'd never seen before. They didn't even laugh when I showed them my ID, which is a first!

Today 4h February 2022 I arrived at Bunnings about 10.15am. I asked 5 female Bunnings staff where to find 3 different items. All were so extremely kind and helpful to a silly old lady. When I felt slightly faint and had to sit down I was offered a free coffee and a trolley to lean on. Thank you to all of you. I got exactly what I wanted. There was also a very handsome young man customer who helped too!

That's one wire you forget on a camp trip, and no shop has it...... Well it's here... And good service as Bunnings normally has. Store was well stocked, clean and no "plushie" shop assistance... Plenty of parking and places that accomodat a trailer or camper.

Friendly staff. Had a ice coffee and pie here lovely service from staff member, she was so bubbly. The shop is always good value for money when going to Bunnings.

Whent to get shelves to build a walk-in pantry, went to the counter to ask where to go they were a bit stund and then "Amanda" took us to the right place and helped us with our purchase. I'm very impressed with her and will go back to Bunnings Petone everytime.

The app makes navigating this place a whole lot easier. Well laid out but a few of the things we were after were not in stock. Happy staff and the garden section is awesome

Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. If they don't know the answer to a question they will take the time to take you to the staff member who can. There's always a wide variety of products for sale.

Great shop, but some of the service is a bit slack, sorry but some of the staff seem totally disinterested in helping customers like us, even though we spend a lot of money in store!:(

Staff are nice and helpful, when they can be. Often they seem to be run off there feet. You really need to be self sufficient when shopping here.

It's a Bunnings store, so it has all the amazing gadgets, thingmebobs, and dohickies, that you can spend many hours browsing through. Trying to figure out what this or that is for, then being amazed that you have lived all these years without one!! LOL A great place!!!

Bunnings now have the new ranges of Portors paint. Which is fantastic. Staff service at Specailist order desk (kitchen and blinds..) is the worst I’ve even encountered Avoid

This store has a wide range of stock at reasonable prices. It's also conveniently located, and has decent car parking. There are also a couple of cafes nearby. In the store they have a very small cafe, and a decent sized plant section. There aren't many staff around, but the ones that are there are helpful.

Went for a gas bottle and 5 other things I didn't know I needed. Checkout could have moved faster if the servers weren't so friendly and helpful.

Made an online order yesterday. It was ready to collect within an hour and when we went out to collect in our booked time slot, the team managing the car park, phones and dropping the items out to us were amazing. All friendly, well organised and a very slick operation. Thank you.

If you know the store well its great but otherwise there is alot of stock! Found you could search for an item on their website and put in the store and it will tell you what aisle and bay it is in.

Friendly staff and well set out store makes it easier to find items.

It's an OK branch, however the service you get depends on who serves you and they struggle to keep the shelves fully stocked. Cafe is tiny and sometimes has only one person on. I go there for a good deal more than anything else.

My 5 stars is for the greeters at the door, every time we visit they are what makes the visit...the rest of the service in this place is very substantial and the staff often look like they hate the job. Definitely not chirpy like the TV ads.

We spent ages walking around trying to find someone to help us. Finally found a nice guy who ended up needing steps to get something down for us. It took him about 10 mins to do so - his comment was that these seem to be the only one in the store... Anyway we got what we needed and the young guy was great to deal with.

Always cheaper than M...10 on the same manufacturer and timber... And I mean always. I go to Bunnings first to take photos for my 15% off M...10 price promise. Ha ha, M...10 hates me. Saying that, I would prefer it to be the other way around, as the Bunnings staff are more professional. M...10 always give me a hard time with their 'promise' and sometimes try to scam me. That won't stop me going back every time to get it though. I will always opt for Bunnings if it is a non-price promise purchase. The people are more polite, and the staff diversity in Petone, at least, is genuinely representative of NZ.

I've been coming here a number of years. They have an excellent cutting machine and service. Weekends are super busy so getting in and a park is slow. Huge range, always helpful staff who are friendly.

Pretty quiet trip into Bunnings. Went to get a farm gate latch and staple cost $12 which was pretty good. Wandered round having a general look, was approached twice by staff asking if I needed any help. Both friendly and polite. No floetrol in stock which was my second reason for being there. Good fruit trees in sale around the $39 mark. 😁

Staff at check out need to be more focused chatting to others she made a mistake which caused some unnecessary change in products for me as a customer , also had a young lady at Porirua who also made the incorrect comment and caused me to wait a further 20 minutes at the paint counter having waited for 20 minutes I went up to get service they called someone over the microphone and when he finally came he served someone else, when I asked why the other young lady that arrived said they were first not sure as she wasnt there to see who was first this was very offputting again younger person not providing good customer service unacceptable. I was there to get a 2L pot of paint for over an hour!

Handy man's or womans place to find all the things they need. Good for trades and to top it off a great Cafe.

Great variety. Nor the best service. Some staff are are super helpful. Some couldn't care less about the customer.

Pretty average experience. Almost every-time I visit the 'Chop Shop' isn't open as the saws are broken. When it is open the staff cannot cut even lengths of wood. Asked for 6 pieces @ 800mm for some table legs and not a single one was cut to measure. The staff member then had the nerve to say their saws are only accurate to 10mm - this was after I told them they were table legs and needed to be exactly the same length..... Some staff are really friendly and others appear to be actively avoiding customers. Overall, there are better places to go. On the other-hand prices are decent and they will match competitors so if you are after a bargain and like to shop around Bunnings Petone might be the store for you.

Good selection of products and usually cheaper than Mitre 10. However, every time I go there, they usually have only one cashier despite there is a long line. This is very perplexing because there are so many staff walking around in the store.

Good service. I compare this place to mitr 10. You buy something from Bunnings, change your mind (2 weeks later) they will return it if in original packaging. Don't hope for this from mitre 10.

The Greeter is the best. Impossible not to be chipper after a thorough welcome at the door. Garden centre - worth a wander. The shop is always well stocked and staffed.

Definitely a go to Warehouse for any DIY or professional. I believe you get a courtesy trailer to use if you want or hire certain tools to do a job as well.

The young lady in the paint section @ Petone was extremely knowledgeable re deck stains & very helpful. Obviously very well trained, very pleasant to deal with - bright & engaging.

There is always someone there who can help answer questions even if you have to wait a while for them to get to you. It is a big store. They're reliable. I do a lot of gardening and I'm able to get products at very reasonable prices. They're my go to first place. Extensive product range is great.

It's a bunnings, difficult to find what you want as the place is so large but the staff where helpful and also asked us if we needed help. Not 5 star as its sometimes difficult to get a car park.

Disappointing purchased some Timbercryl to paint a fence and needed to go back for some more. They tried to charge me $25 more for the same colour and size. Worked out someone had used a different base and therefore there was difference in the price. After getting the manager involved hopefully they have it correct with this first tin. Time will tell when get home. Only spent 80 minutes of my time trying to sort out the issue

As always..they have the best staff here..ask for help they are always quick to help and ask if theres anything else they can help with. Pretty rare these days to see that kind of Customer service..nice one Bunnings Petone

Staff are very good and attentive to customers

Good place for DIY products. Service generally good. Sometimes you find different priced items spread around the shop. For example clear rolls of tape. Found pack of three next to packing boxes. Then someone had put a pack of 9 on a random shelf (origin of which I never found) then found a pack of 6 in an aisle bin for cheaper than the 3 pack! Generally has what you want.

Came here to get a sign for my postbox to stop the junk mail. Bunnings had a Good variety to choose from. Metal in 2 colours, plastic small medium or large. Settled on a small, metal, silver sign. Got home, fixed it to the mailbox with the included four screws and now I don’t have to transfer the junk from the mailbox to recycle bin ever again. Easy.

Bunnings Petone is a bit of a tough one to rate. In my experience the staff are generally trying their best but are hampered by poor staffing ratios which leads to low numbers of check outs open, customers walking out because they can't get the advice or answer they need. There is also a general lack of useful space to lay out product so customers can clearly see what is available etc. Try to avoid the place on the weekends as that is when the staffing issues are the most obvious.

Happy with the plants I bought not so happy when potting mix was put In car after being told it was snagged on something in car and ripped hence potting mix all over car boot

It took them over 2h to sort out order out and they ended up doing what we asked them to do in the first place, after saying it was impossible to do so. Very frustrating. The staff were friendly but a little bit clueless.

Big range. Shame pricing not more competitive (but punters not got much choice as M10 Mega...) & similar seem to have all ramped up pricing in recent years

Maybe it's just me but... don't like the feeling when asked to let someone go through everything on my way out the door... it's like being accused of something without being acutely accused of something. This kind of let down the rest of the experience because apart from that the staff were great

It's got a good variety of goods, slightly cheaper on price than Mitre 10, slightly more convenient location, but slightly worse parking. If you know about big hardware shops, then this won't be a surprise. Cafe is pretty good as well.

Good product range at low reasonable prices and good service.

One of the best shops for DIY projects in Wellington. You get almost all the hardware for your projects. It is quite convenient to get all the items in a single shop. There are always some good deals displayed in the front and don't forget to check that out. Also, if you are starting any project, checkout the online website to get the estimate on pricing and then visit the shop for purchase. The staffs are very friendly and normally answers all the queries.

Summer rush is over so plenty of parking available even in the weekend. Staff are always helpful, I was in a rush so I asked the greeter at the front door and she directed me to the correct aisle for what I was after. Easy access via Hutt Road or Esplanade note Hutt Road usually has traffic between 10:00am and 2:00pm on a Saturday outside Bunnings.

Alot of hardware available with people to help, but sometimes it can be hard to find one. Generally the shopping experience is good.

Nice big store with plenty of products for the handy man/woman. Big variety.

The store was messy and understaffed. No one was available in the department I was looking in to help, leaving me to compromise on what I wanted to buy because I couldn't find what I was actually after. Then only one till was open, and I had to show my receipt at the door when I wanted to get out! Not fun.

Typical bunnings in a good way, staff you come across some are knowledgable and you come across some that are on the other side of the spectrum, some polite some could do better. Same way with the prices, shop around as some stuff is cheaper but then some stuff is more expensive than in the other stores. Its quite handy having the store there so we got to support them otherwise if there is no competition we go backwards or to where we were some years ago

Love that they are dog friendly! I go here instead of Mitre 10 as I don't have to leave my dog in the car. Works as a bonus both ways as our boy works like a staff magnet - they come over for a pat and then can help us find exactly what we need - or they find us someone who knows what we need!

Really wish we had a Bunnings in Masterton. Have a plant addiction so always great to go to any Bunnings for a look

Has everything you need for DIY and great reasonable coffee and cakes etc at little cafe.. had my preschooler with me and she had a blast in play ground while I had my coffee in peace.. also had a little play in the kids DIY section inbetween cafe and toilets. Always helpful friendly staff

Always good customer service, people are so willing to help you out and are welcoming to our young children. There is a lil cafe and play area for children. Great variety of products.

Awesome hardware store and selection as well as staff. Coffee is HORRIBLE! Inconsistently average tasting coffee. Indoor playground for kids which is great, with cafe within view. Average selection of outdoor furniture, and also at good deals.

Awesome variety of tools and camping products which I was after. Most of the time have some good price deals going on so you can pick and choose what you want to buy in terms of brands.

My husband and I would like to thank one of your staff, Hayden. A few weeks ago we purchased new bench tops. Although Hayden was about to finish for the day, he kindly came to the car with us and helped us load the benches into the car. We then were there over the weekend as we needed to purchase a new sink (for the kitchen) and get some stoppers to stop the water coming through, until our plumber arrived. Hayden went above and beyond to help us get the right product. Prior to that, while we waited, I saw that he was extremely helpful to a man in the kitchen area. Thanks Hayden :)

I like the this new store although it does have its quirks. The store has great customer service although I believe their prices ain't always the cheapest compared to other competitors. Also their product range is generally smaller than the competitor and they generally carry odd brands (which can be seen in their DIY kitchen section).

A big thank you to Russell in tools for you patience, taking the time to assist me, not making me feel rushed into a decision. Got what I needed. I will look to him for help in the future.

Huge store most friendly staff, plenty of car parks. It's just a few yards away from the Petone beach. Hayden and Mary are awesome staff. Many staff there at Bunnings are people I've seen for the past10+ years from Naenae, all of them have plenty of experience and know what they're talking about. Peter and Dave are like a mini encyclopaedia in the tools section. Most other staff are also former builders or tradesman you can rely on their advice

Got the wrong cable for my new TV aerial, hassle free got refunded definitely recommend shopping here 😃

The welcome staff were lovely and helpful but that's where it ended. In the end we gave up trying to work out what we needed and had a coffee and cake at their cafe instead; this was great!

Knowledgeable freindly staff. I was bought a generator they told me if I wasnt sure to go away and think about it and check it would meet my needs as a big item to buy. I did go away and looked into it more then came back and got it

Great craft for my preschoolers, they loved making the mask. Woman in charge was wonderful with kids. As always love the prices of the vege and annual punnets. Cant beat it!!

This Bunnings is well stocked, friendly staff and dedicated tool section makes this a must stop for DIY and trade projects. Has a large selection of brands that I haven't seen at other hardware retailers.

Found one member of the staff in paint shop helpfull but the girl on equiries counter downright rude. Muttering under her breath.... Im not in a hurry to go back when mitre 10 staff are always so friendly helpfull if your lost!!

This place is huge. Visited just a few days after opening. Clean, tidy and massive. Situated on the old NZ Post Mail Centre site. We got a car park ok and found what we were looking for easily.

One of my favourite places to go for home DIY or gardening items. Large range of items, competitive pricing and friendly staff. Only down side is that the parking is awkward and can be a nightmare when busy.

Bunnings petone is quite amazing. We had our entire kitchen done with their help. Specifically a staff member named mani. Wouldn't have been able to do it without him.

I could spend hours here just looking. The staff are ultra friendly and helpful. One of my favourite shops

Great service! An Absolute unit of a man greeted me a my wife Ngaire at the door with and shining smile and a light hearted cheek that almost brought a tear to me eye. After checking my bag and directing me to the product I was looking for, he proceeded to whip his Big old Bunsen out and ruin my wife whilst I decided betweem Black & Decker and Ryobi. 4/5, Mitre 10 went that extra mile and slipped a pinky in Ngaire's pooshooter.

Always found stuff I am looking for there. I recommend asking for help from staff as the place is so big. You can easily spend an hour looking for a specific things; staff can cut this down to 5 minutes ;)

Really great plant varieties!!!! So many choices and really healthy plants.

Service & product / solution knowledge is limited but you can find good deals there.

Always good. But tradies utes filling all disability parks. No cards showing. Staff didnt seem to think was a problem.

I would rate this store zero..Worst customer service called few times to get through, they continued to disconnect my call ....but will give 10 stars for Haiden ( not sure which section he works but tends to be a all rounder) who was persistent in helping me and gave me the accurate information..

A great place to go and get a bargain. Staff know their stuff and are always willing to help. Child friendly and if you are wanting a coffee and a treat check out the café

Good parking and easy access. Plants in the garden centre area were wilting and the staff didn't seem to care. Unforgivable really.

Just reading belows review from William and trying to balance the scale, as he clearly has a lack of standing regarding this. Firstly, you cannot post from Australian Bunnings to NZ. They're not exclusively an online store. Additionally, the policy clearly states same day delivery, therefore if shipped via Australia it would take atleast 3-5 working days minimum anyways. Lastly, Ozito is an Australian brand therefore stock gets exported from Australia to New Zealand. If you add the tax and delivery cost, and other expenses like distribution to stores, it'd be a similar price to the NZ stocked item. It is expensive to export to NZ. For your reference: When you find a competitor's lower price on the same stocked item, we'll beat it by 15% This excludes trade quotes, stock liquidations and commercial quantities. Never had good customer service when you want something assistant if u can find one only knows certain area of shop and position of trolleys not handy when you're in garden area should have some trolleys in that area.

Usually pretty helpful and often stock what I need, although there have been times when staff have had me running around the store trying to search for someone who knows something, only to find out the store doesn't carry it.

Very slow service today. 2 staff working on all counters, and one of those was being trained/new to that department.

In and out in 15 min . Got the new drill and a couple of other bits and pieces I wanted. With out the help and direction of the staff it would have taken twice as long .

All the aisles were taken over by loaded containers of stock to put on the shelves which was really annoying as you couldn't move them as too heavy & you couldn't see what was on the shelves xx
