This is a classic hardware they do everything you expect from a good hardware. Know exactly what you talking about. If they dont have , very unlikely, they have it in for you very quicly because they know so many suppliers.

Excellent hardware shop with such a range of products from scuba gear. Hardware requirements, tools, and you can get just 1 or two screw, and not have to purchase a whole packet. Staff are very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. If they dont have it in the shop the will endeavour to get it. The best hardware store I have ever visited

The helpful staff in this traditional NZ hardware went out of their way to help even if they didn't have what we needed in stock. The manger spent a good 10 minutes going through their parts catalogues and calling suppliers for us. In the end they provide the name of a craftsman in a neighbouring town to visit on our way home.

Probably my favourite store in Thames, a proper old hardware store with everything a DIY person could ever need, staffed by an incredibly helpful team who have the knowledge to help with just about any project. They managed to hand file a key for a very old lock for me that you can no longer get blanks for, just awesome!!

I've been shopping and getting information/advice from Reads for 41 years. All staff are informed and knowledgeable, a wonderful range of everything and more in the way of hardware. To enter Read Brothers in Thames is to step back in time and its fair to say the team at Read Brothers cannot be beaten on any front. -friendly warm helpful service -if they do not have it , they will source it -a sense of humour -they remember your name and make an effort to chat , even for a minute -nothing is too difficult , a grandfather clock crank adjusted, a new spade sharpened, a few stainless steel hooks , a whipper snipper, weed spray, rat bait, giant staples for reticulation system, paint, they have it all. This is the historic hardware store, carrying all the stock which the chain stores won't. If they don't have it, they will get it. You'd be surprised at what you can get at Read Brothers

The best hardware store anywhere! Over 150 yrs old in the Read Family ownership. Superb knowledgeable service. Read Bros Hardware store is a MUST SEE when you visit Thames whether you want something for the kitchen, gumboots, garden or marine equipment locks, or just one small item that usually has to be bought in a pack from other retailers!
