Reviews of BirdCare Aotearoa
J.
All good people doing good jobs rescuing birds in the community I’ve this baby sparrow injured by cat at my backyard still alive when arriving the birdcare sorry for the little bird hope it’s going well being looked after
D.
I saved this little guy in Titirangi road - his leg was injured. Called up the BirdCare Centre and they told me to drop him between 10-11. Really friendly service and appreciate that they could take him in. They even gave me a reference number so I can call on his status.
R.
I rescued a wee hatchling starling from my stable floor, I raised it for 18 days and then after a hard decision I took it to the Bird Centre as I knew they could properly wean it. I grew very attached, sounds silly but it was an amazing experience. Thank you so much for taking it in. I'm so glad there is a place we can take birds to in Auckland.
J.
Dr Miller and the Birdcare team are awesome. Support these people, donate, and if you find an injured or sick bird, go here and be confident they will get the best outcome possible in Auckland.

Lovely place, great to know that someone cares of injured birds
A.
This was a fantastic place to take an injured bird my cat brought in. Knowledgeable, quick and very kind. They even gave me a little calling card so I can check up on the bird.
It's the little touches like that that make this place fantastic
P.
Found an injured Mallard on the road and dropped it off BirdCare.
It was comforting to know that the duck would be looked after. Thank you so much for all you do. 💕
A.
Think ahead and try to bring a donation with rescued birds or make time to pop in and lend a hand. Run by busy volunteers who clean poop, feed and care for wild birds in all weather, right through every holiday and often for months on end. In the 15 minutes I was there 5 cars arrived to drop off more than 10 birds. Heroes.
C.
A wonderful place. Full of very hardworking people caring for birds. Please do contribute with a donation if you can.
L.
Had to take a baby tui . Was a long way to go and unfortunately they are on restricted hours. The lovely lady on the phone knew it would take us possibly outside their hours but she said to come anyway and they would take it. On arrival there was a huge queue and more arriving after us. These people do a fantastic job they should be applauded for what they do ❤
B.
Great team doing great work. Be sure to help out with a donation if you can.
A.
Awesome service worthy of your support and donation. Dropped off a waxeye fledgling to them we had found and fed some farex as recommended for nectar eaters.
S.
The lady there was very helpful in taking the injured bird in. A bunch of dedicated folk.

We dropped off a baby dove at the Centre, lovely place and great team there looking after the birds, please do some donation if you can.
P.
Great place. Friendly and passionate team. We were happy to find a safe place for the dove we found near our house.
J.
This place is amazing. End up using them quite regularly.
Open from 8:30 to 16:30 so it's important to keep those injured or abandoned birds warm if you can't get there straight after getting the bird.
In need of volunteers, if you are interested have a look at their website to apply.
k.
The careers who look after our feathered friends do a good job of helping them get well. Great Job to them.

Such a great place! Fabulous people working hard to care for NZ Native and Non-Native Birds.
S.
Friendly staff and they do great things looking after birds that need help. We rescued a wax-eye chick from our cat and took it to them to treat and look after until it had grown enough to fly.
We made a donation also as it was the least we could do to help support the rehabilitation of a native bird.
Do consider supporting this worthy cause.
R.
Lovely people, very professional. I'm very grateful for their service

Our pup bit a bird. We took care of it overnight and then I drove it to NZ Bird Rescue.
They sure have full hands, people already waiting with injured birds.
NZ needs place like this to look after its wildlife! Very nice lady took care of me and was very warm and welcoming.
N.
They are doing a great job! We found a newborn Sparrow a week ago and managed to raise him until today that we left him with this amazing team. We trust they will take care of him from now on. Pictures of Day 1 and Day 8 🥰
D.

N.
They do an amazing job of taking in injured and orphaned wildlife.
S.
I felt welcomed and my questions were answered kindly by the young female volunteer. Such a ling way to go...if only we had a bird rescue in South Auckland.
M.
This wonderful place has always welcomed the poor little birdies we've found either fallen from their nests or hurt somehow. Thank you for all you do you wonderful people.
S.
A popular place to take injured birds, where the variety of extremely knowledgeable people genuinely care for the animals entrusted in their restorative care. Aviaries, warming area and recovery/hospital room needed to treat Auckland and its surrounding regions' bird life, comprise the area's sole bird rescue service. They appreciate donations of all kinds and eftpos is available.
G.
A Special thank you to everyone helping and taking this little newbie in this morning ❤️09/07/20. I was distraught in the first instance and what to do? This little chick fell out of its nest, landing in a smaller tree below breaking it's fall and hanging about unknown. I decided to rake the debris from the recent storms and this little one all of a sudden fell to the ground in front of me. I'm so happy i could check this little one in 200709#4 with you. Thank you everyone so much. You are all stars.

Walking my little dog in the evening and this Baby Gull was trying to fly and looked weak.
Took him home next day rang Bird Rescue in Auckland. They would take him but I live in Thames so I have to bring him up. Talked with local Vet and great news a Lady in Thames looks after Birds needing Rescue. All what Baby Gull needs is lots of Food he was under weight.
Thanks to the Lady in Thames 🤗
I.
When I droped off an injured duck, there were 6 other people in the short time I was there also dropping off injured birds but not one person made a donation- so please, if you can, give a donation to help the many many injured birds being dropped off here every hour, every day.

Found a flightless baby parrot running back and forth on the road, one of those Australian ones. Cars running over top of him nearly hitting him. We managed to catch him and took him in to the hospital, so they could help release him in a safer place near his family. They noted down where we found him and were happy to help.

Awesome service. Thank u guys.

If you find a bird needing help, these are the people to call! I wasted time calling department of conservation who said they would come and pick up a stranded Cook's Petrel, after leaving it in a safer place for a few hours they were to pick it up. Next evening, walked by and just made sure, poor thing was still there! Useless dep of conservation! Was very upset, went and got a box to take myself, of course when I got back it was gone, nobody saw anything either. Lesson learnt! Call bird rescue first! Bless you, great work!
